This is awesome. Your videos are very helpful because of the detailed information you provide. Definitely relieved some of my anxieties as someone planning my trip to Kyoto and Osaka for the first time. Thank you and keep up the good work.
your videos are fantastic and I really appreciate the amount of effort in detail you put into them also the amount of history you give is incredible. I think you have a great platform here. your delivery is very charismatic and I think this is going to take off.
Can I just say..THANK YOU! My goodness, I’m coming to japan in November to Kyoto, your video just stopped my anxiety for that part of the trip! Love your video too!
I was in Kyoto three times and I can confirm that this video is extremely helpful for first time visitors. Kyoto Station is overwhelming the first time. I will forward this to friends. Subscribed.
This vlog is really helpful as I will be traveling solo to Japan in January. Although this is will be my second time in Japan but it will be my first time in Kyoto. Thank you very much for this
This video is so helpful Thanks :). I'm going to Japan with my family 2025 Jan 7 to Jan 23 in Tokyo Osaka and Kyoto. I have been wanting to go to Japan since I was 10, im 22 now so 12 years. I would love to see some walk threws of the Osaka and Tokyo train stations and/or airports too.
THIS! 🎇🎆🎇🎆 Very well done and super informative, we all Thank you! And keep injecting humor into your videos, it will set them apart from others. (Krispy Kreme komments, etc)
Peace! You’re the best! Thank you!! Visited Kyoto last Spring & had a most Divine time! This station is fantastic & we navigated it thru first timers luck $ grace! If you do toys maybe next spring we’ll get in touch ! Just left you a thanx too🙏🏾☀️☀️☀️👍🏽
Excellent video. This is EXACTLY the information I was looking for. I looked at several videos on Kyoto Station and this was by far the best. Thanks for providing the map, and the reorienting us to the map as you went through the station. And very focused camera work (some people wave the camera around in a dizzying and confusing fashion but you don't. I always get a good look at what I'm supposed to be looking at. Also thanks for including the Porta mall level. We are just passing through Kyoto Eki on our way to Kunisaki Onsen. However, based on your recommendation we might make a longer layover...especially to check out the okonomiyaki restaurant.
This is amazing! and so helpful! I am going at the end of this month and this makes me feel alot less anxious! Would you have something similar to this for tokyo?
Super video thanks I’m back to Kyoto in November and have a question regarding the IC card As i haven’t used it on the trains before Can i use my IC card on the special rapid to Osaka Also can i use it to get to Nara on the JR line Keep up the good work love your videos
Hi I didn't put it in the video but they're right outside the main entrances. On the karasuma side, you'll exit and turn right. You'll see the taxi sign there!
I will be traveling with 4 adults, each with one piece of luggage that is check-in size. We want to grab dinner at Kyoto Station before taking our next train to Ogotoonsen. What do you suggest? Can we bring our luggage into any of the eating places that featured in your video? Since we are only stopping for dinner, we are hoping not to store our luggage for the short duration. Thank you!
Hi, you'll have to do what I did in the video and reserve a seat. You just don't need the fare pass because that's what your JR Pass is. Reserving a seat for oversize luggage will still cost money. You can do it at the station when you arrive (99% fine) or reserve online. There's a link in my blog post to the official website, just make an account and reserve - PiQtour.com/kyotostation
hii!! does kyoto station to osaka station just a normal train? not a shinkansen right? because i’m planning to go from kyoto station to osaka station and to universal city station, for usj, early in the morning probably 6am is that possible with just using suica card only? opening and closing hours for the kyoto station is?
Hi, you're gonna wanna check Google maps for that. You can put in the starting point and destination and then choose the time you want to arrive. Most trains don't start running til around 5:30am. And yes you can do it with just Suica, you don't need to take a shinkansen there. Getting to Universal usually requires two different transfers so make sure you check the route well. :)
That's weird, it's supposed to. Do you think maybe you had a bad card? All the major cards are advertised to work across Japan. 🤔 Although, there are sometimes lines where IC cards aren't accepted.
Hi, I’m confused on what pass do I have to buy, Kansai railway pass, Kansai area pass and all the different passes available. Now, I’m planning to get an ICOCA card to use on all buses, railways, instead of buying those passes. May I get your inputs please? Should I just get an ICOCA?
You don't need a pass; most people don't use any. Just get ICOCA or something similar. Passes may benefit some travelers, but it's something you'll have to research and decide based off your own itinerary.
JR Passes and IC cards (e.g., ICOCA, Suica, and Pasmo) are not the same. While ICOCA is a transit card, think of it as a debit card. You should definitely look into some of the 3-days, 5-days, 7-days regional JR passes and even the full JR passes to see which one best suits your itinerary. (My wife and I always purchase either a 14-day or 21-day JR Pass, depending on the length of our trip. This allows us to travel freely throughout Japan without worrying about the cost of individual train tickets.) Have fun planning!
If you are planning to take the shinkansen to various places you should look into jr passes, but not necessarily the country wide pass. That is good for 7,14,21 consecutive days so if you stay in places for a few days it won't make sense. But some of the regional passes do make sense. For instance. I will be in Kyoto for a couple of days but I'm also going out to Okayama. So I will get the five day Kansai wide pass for. Y8400. A one way ticket from osaka to okayama is Y6100. So that more then pays for the pass and I have to use on local trans as a bonus. the icoca/suica etc are good one non-Jr lines as well as Jr. Can also be used in convenience stores and vending machine. They are more like debit cards, just a convenience. Of course cash is fine too.
This is awesome. Your videos are very helpful because of the detailed information you provide. Definitely relieved some of my anxieties as someone planning my trip to Kyoto and Osaka for the first time. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Wow. Who doesn't need this video?! This will really help a lot of people while traveling in Japan. Keep up the great content.
This was a lot of information. I think I'm going to have to review it a few more times. Thanks.
Your video is great. I was at Kyoto station last year and was so lost. I am going back this year and this is so helpful
We were there in September! The station was amazing. The skybridge and that grand lit stairs were cool. We stayed at the hotel in the station.
This is such a great guide to the Kyoto station. Next time I'm there, I will definitely do more exploring around the station. Thanks!!
A great reason to go to Shiga is to visit Hikone castle and garden. Platform 2, easy ride, 50 minutes- 1 hour.
Shiga is my favorite prefecture! Hoping to introduce it to everyone eventually. :)
Can I just say..THANK YOU! My goodness, I’m coming to japan in November to Kyoto, your video just stopped my anxiety for that part of the trip! Love your video too!
Thank you for uploading this info!! We will be in Kyoto next week, so this helps a lot!👍👍👍🙏

Thank you for a detailed tour of the station. Glad to see there are many signs for elevators which I will be needing a lot.
Enjoyed your video. My wife and I have been to Kyoto 15+ times in the last 25 years and always spend an hour or so just in the station.
This vlog is really helpful as I will be traveling solo to Japan in January. Although this is will be my second time in Japan but it will be my first time in Kyoto. Thank you very much for this

Amazing video. I'm just going to download it and watch while walking around the station (in case there is no internet...)

Nope not yet! Hoping to eventually have guides for all major stations tho, haha. Glad this one could be of some help!
As if I didn't have enough to do in kyoto and now I'm finding out just how much stuff is only in the station 😅
Thanks for sharing😁🙏

I’m back to Kyoto in November and have a question regarding the IC card
As i haven’t used it on the trains before

My favorite place in Kyoto is Nara! 😅
Did you stay at a hotel in Nara? Which one?
Thanks!
You're awesome, thank you so much!
Great video with a ton of useful information. Thanks!
We're visiting our daughter who lives and works in Kyoto at the end of the month. Will pass on Krispy Kreme.
Excellent content like always. Is there Uber in Kyoto? And is it easy to call for one? Thanks.
Thank you, and yes! Very easy and I recommend it.
I think the Kintetsu Line will become more popular...as its the fastest way to get to the new Nintendo museum 🥰🥳
What I learnt in this video is that Kyoto station is totally confusing, so if I went there I would just ask a cute Japanese girl to help me...😊
thank you , uk
Hi! I loved your video! Question: where do I get a taxi to Gion district to my hotel? Thank you

Is there vegan ramen option at the store that you are showing in 31:15?

If you eat at the station, I don't think it'll be a problem!
scared like a little animal hahahaha that cracked me up
Beautiful Lady , very cool video .
Tip top. Love your content.
hi thank you for information. Can I use Suica card at Osaka and Kyoto too ? Should I buy it only suica ? ty
You only need one IC Card for your trip, so yes, you can use Suica there! Just get one card. :)
@@piqtourjapan thank you for respond. Best wishes from Turkey.
Pls tell me where I can reserve for my large luggages (I have JR pass) ? Thanks ☺️

Hi! I am in Osaka 20-22 November. Do you think it will be too late for the red leaves? Thanks!
You definitely will not be too late, that will probably be a great time to see them. Usually the end of November till early December is good.
@@piqtourjapan thanks!

When I went to Hokkaido in Feb 2024, my PASMO card did not work anywhere there. Had to buy single trip subway tickets.
That's weird, it's supposed to. Do you think maybe you had a bad card? All the major cards are advertised to work across Japan. 🤔 Although, there are sometimes lines where IC cards aren't accepted.
Die you have to pay for crossing the barrier of the train area and exiting it again? 🤔
Only if you exit from a different area than you came in. If you go in and then realize you made a mistake and then leave the same way, it's fine.
@@piqtourjapan thank you very much! So in your case (entering at the north entrance, turning left and exiting just before the subway) it was free?

Forget about the passes. Just load the suica card on your iPhone. You tap your phone whenever you take a ride.
Are you talking into a coconut chocolate bar, or what? 😅
