You'll enjoy this and learn a lot through this, more so about the 80s and 90s of NASCAR than any other period. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video back.

Me too i was born the year before it was televised and had family in the racing industry and yeah took off from there i dont whatch anymore because they turned into rich guys go driving and show off the rich guys
My dad drove in the lower series in the early days of NASCAR. I drove a few races in 2010, but I wasn't great at the stock car style. I can hold my own on road tracks like Mid-Ohio, but oval tracks are a lot tougher than they look. The banking is absolutely insane and eats a ton of power and will suck you up and in.

I really wanted to see an F-1 fan watch something like this. I've never been much of a racing fan, but this video gives me good old fashioned american pride. We race cause we need booze. Another thing with Dale is that he was a master of learning the race track and taking faster lines and with his car control could drive lines that most of the field simply could not
I’m not a fan of NASCAR but I’m from North Carolina where it was really big when I was growing up. My grandfather and some of my cousins were big NASCAR fans and every Sunday at my grandparents house the race would be on TV. I remember when he died a lot of people were sad. Great video!! It’s true that NASCAR has lost the majority of it’s fans in the last few years. (Over a 50% drop in viewership between 2015 and 2019 according to Sports Media Watch). Most longtime fans have fallen away because (in their own words) they’ve decided to focus on being in the entertainment business and not the sporting business. This has also caused new fans to not come in because, as we all know, it’s die hard fans that introduce the sports they love new people. So, they’ve sort of shot themselves in the foot. It will never be popular like it once was in it’s current form.
Dale Earnhardt was Nascar's Stone Cold Steve Austin. You couldn't talk about American Auto racing without bringing up the Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt. After his Fatal crash, there has never again been an all black Number 3 car in the sport in respect of his name and family.

Today it's Race on Sunday, So-What afterward. Lifetime Fan, no longer hardly even know who's winning.
Ok, I'm late to the party; but I'm someone who tried to get into NASCAR and just didn't click. 2 reasons: It's Currently a "Rich Boy" club and the fanbase's closemindedness (Yes, This is important) The reason why it was Stock Car Racing was because back in the day, you just bought a car, souped it up, and took it to the track. A lot of the previous generation of drivers were from blue collar families and didn't have a whole lot. The bit of spending cash they earned, they invested into their car. Now, because the sport is more set: to break in as a driver, you gotta have a lot of track time, which costs money. You need to have the cars to practice on, which costs money. If you want to enter a car, It costs a shit ton of money. It's what F1 is now just sons of millionaires and billionaires with ennui looking for a rush because they can afford it. and 2) The racist fans. Half of the fun of a sporting event is going to see it live. Interacting with people, cheering on "your team" or "your guy" But when it feels like 90% of the fan base is flying the Confederate Flag while wearing MAGA hats, throwing around the N word and F word (slur for gay people) I do not feel welcomed. And yes, I'm sure if I go in, they'd hand me a beer and show me Southern Hospitality, but to them, I'm just "one of the good ones" That's my issue. I would love to go to Talladega or Daytona and cheer along side, but I don't like the chances of not getting a beer bottle thrown at my head while cheering on a 2nd or 3rd gen driver who's worth 30 million dollars calling themselves the salt of the Earth

And yes, I'm sure if I go in, they'd hand me a beer and show me Southern Hospitality, but to them, I'm just "one of the good ones"
That's my issue. I would love to go to Talladega or Daytona and cheer along side, but I don't like the chances of not getting a beer bottle thrown at my head while cheering on a 2nd or 3rd gen driver who's worth 30 million dollars calling themselves the salt of the Earth
I LOVE NASCAR!!!!!!!!!!!
People think nascar is simple and requires no skill but there is nothing simple at 200 mph or 321 kph.
Be boring hasn't killed Nascar, politics and the France family (Nascar C.E.O. ) has . I once could tell you every move of 43 teams ,now I just don't want to know!
