@@FutureCatNZ The keys to the door is it must be hollow and holes drill sporadically. I had a frame built around it and the door is removable as needed. It is now about 14 years old. I am going to get a new door soon. The local quilt shop is ordering the heavy cotton canvas. Once the canvas arrives then there will be a family gathering to stretch the canvas a staple in place.
Thank you for sharing this with us today. I have been wanting to make a big ironing board/table. This is a great idea 💡☺️, I think I can get my son on board, and make something similar. You are BRILLIANT 💖🍀🌹🦓! THANK YOU AGAIN. Happy Healthy Holidays.
I just found you. Knoxville TN USA here. Love the new ironing board and the storage space. Could you please send out the measurements of the ironing board and the height too. Your feather quilting was very good. Liked the string better than the elastic for the top. Could I make the top. Could I make a suggestion. In the corner of your room maybe take out the chest of drawers and lamp and have your kin build you a bookcase like the other one you have all the way up to the ceiling. And I can’t see the other corner maybe do it too. And maybe keep all your cases and furniture light. Also I think some white lace sheers or curtains would help lighten up the room. I was so excited to see you get your ironing board get made because it makes you so happy. Thank you
The top was was made from a 600x1200mm board, which would be roughly 23x47". Including the wheels, it's about 34" high. Thanks for the suggestions on what to do with my sewing room. Unfortunately it doubles as my office space when I'm working from home, so I'm a bit limited on what I can do with it, but you gave me some good ideas to think about!
I don’t think I would’ve quilted the cover, because those stitch lines might come through when you’re pressing your blocks. I need to recover my normal ironing board, but I’m going to use upholstery fabric and a solid color.
@@FutureCatNZ well, I am trying to get rid of this nasty cold, that everyone seem to receive as a Christmas present I have that denim upholstery fabric. I just don’t think I have the right elastic.
My custom ironing board is a door. Works perfectly. Covered with a thick flannel mat and canvas. I love it.
A door is such a great idea! I wish my space was big enough for that :-)

@@showmegalusa4521 thanks for the tips!
I LOVE your idea of an ironing board. May look for some boards to try this. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I hope you're able to find suitable materials to make your own!
Very cool ironing station. I do so very much enjoy watching you while I hand quilt! Thank you for sharing your time and talent!
I'm really enjoying ironing on it! Glad you like the videos :-)
How did I miss this video. Fabulous ironing board and fabulous family. How lucky are you !
Yep, they're pretty cool 🙂
Very cool! I didn't notice all that storage space underneath!
It was probably hard to get a decent look at it with all the stuff I've got in that room! 🙂

Thanks! I'm still loving my giant ironing board - I hope your son is able to help you make one! Let me know how it turns out :-)
Very-well planned to use up the spaces underneath that are created! I look for that everywhere in my room! Thank you! 😄
Those spaces are still one of my favourite things about the ironing board - they're so useful!
This is such a wonderful thing! Bravo for your collective creativity!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun building it.
I like it, but I need the tapered edges at the end!
I think if I sewed clothing I'd miss the tapered end more, but for me it's worth it for the extra surface area

Very nice TFS. ❤
Thanks!
I love it space to store your iron??
I didn't think to add a specific space for my iron, but it does fit nicely on one of the shelves underneath.
Love it
Thanks!

So far I haven't noticed any problem with the stitch lines coming through. Hope your ironing board re-covering goes well!

I have that denim upholstery fabric. I just don’t think I have the right elastic.
@@dcwatashi Hope you're feeling better soon!
@@FutureCatNZ me too at least I have two 4 legged furballs to keep me warm
🎉
We should be able to buy rectangular ironing boards.
I agree! Though building your own is very satisfying :-)
Oof, I look like shit. Need to get in some more exercise!
You'll just have to do even more gardening! ;-)
I'm sure there's some more ivy you could pull down!
