This song always takes me back to my original college days when I'd have this playing while studying. Now, I'm doing the same these many years later. Timeless!
Exactly! I had a cassette tape of this album that I wore out while driving in a 1980 Renault Le Car (A VW Rabbit, Ford Fiestas and Honda Civic rolled into one...but cheaper!) all across Europe. Every time I listen to this track, it brings back some great memories of places and close friends, some who have departed. ✌
This album and this song (along with Heavy Weather by Weather Report - A Remark You Made) got me started on this kind of music in 1980-81. Smooth jazz before it was called Smooth jazz. The Bob James path led me to Four Play. Earl Klugh I saw at the Greek Theater in L.A. Earl Klugh also led me to Al Jarreau. So much beautiful music; Thank you.
and you just reminded me of Weather Report thanks!! While you're out there Check out Herbie Hancock Chameleon and you will probably like Jean Luc Ponty
I have some Miles Davis music in my library and Herbie Hancock was in a Miles Davis quintet in the 60s. So, worth looking into. A college roommate from back then had Jean Luc Ponty in his collection. @@howardcampbell6796
For me... the best collaboration of a track from Two Jazz Giants of the modern era! Thank so much Mr. James❤Mr. Klugh. My older brother Eric who passed away in 2007, is also gifted in keyboard playing and idolizes Mr. James. He has all the complete BJ vinyl albums up to 1979 autographed when Mr. James did a concert in the Philippines & he kept them in a special separate record shelf.
It was the early 80's I was listening to local Toronto radio station CKFM and they played this tune. I still have it as a recording on a cassette. Brings back wonderful memories. Thanks guys
Thank you Mr.James one of my favorites from The Album ONE on ONE with your collaboration of my all time guitarist EARL KLUGH.This album won you a GRAMMY.This make my day Mr.James.THANK YOU SO MUCH.
"Discovered" this album nearly 45 years ago while statione 6:30 d in Northern Italy, as a young Air Force captain. It remains one of the finest collaboration of two musical giants of all time.
Heard this played at Ontario Mills Mall this weekend in the morning walking in. I knew right away it was Bob and Earl. This set the mood for the whole day
Back in the 80s I would set this as background music, sit at my drawing board, ( before CAD :) ), and before I knew it the sun would rise, and my loving wife would show up with a cup of tea for me. I would draw house projects all night. Me, James and Earl ! Still my " Go TO " music !!
Back in the early 80's this was the opener right before the television station came on...been searching for this for a long time and here it is on accident.
This song makes me remember all my best time at the University of Lubumbashi in Democratic republic of Congo. The one who makes me discover this song is a old friend of mine named Francois Mwepu.
1 of my aunts back in my native DMV Metropolitan area had the album in her arsenal & she even let me play it myself on her good record player at that time & later on my portable...no bluetooth let alone a cue on such things yet in the 80's like today. You had to be there. I recall this song along with "I'll Never See Her Smile Again" used on Maryland ITV Ch. 22 used as tv Elevator music in-between Educational shows, thus making such more appealing. I since bought my own One on One album myself used last decade & still in my arsenal to this day Mon 6-13-22.
Mr.James I wish to buy this ALBUM ONE ON ONE with Earl Klugh because i never owned one and your ALBUM DOUBLE VISION with David Sanford.I owned this in the 80's but then my old neighbor took it but left the covers. These 2 album won you 2 GRAMMYS.I hope AMAZON have them. These time if i purchase both i will hide them. Those albums are treasures.
C'est le 31 décembre 2021 à l'instant. Ce son me transporte langoureusement en 2023 que je suis sûr de voir, mon âme étant en paix. Bonne année à James et Klugh.
Why does youtube, or the artist's publishing company, keep blocking their artists' videos??? It is so damn frustrating! You listen (watch it) to it one day, and a few days later it's gone, it's so damn stupid!
I still see my father reading his Sunday newspaper and listening to this! R.I.P., Dad
Both this song and my wife are named Kari. And, appropriately, both are beautiful, complex and highly intelligent in their composition!
That's so beautiful.
Been listening to these highly accomplished musicians for years!👍
I hope your wife isn't Kari Lake.
This song always takes me back to my original college days when I'd have this playing while studying. Now, I'm doing the same these many years later. Timeless!
Mine too
I played BJ 4 over and over and over and over
Bob and Earl gave us some of the very best traveling music in the '80s; the miles in the car just seem to fly by.

Still moves me after all those years

Always a classic when BJ and EK get to play together!

I did a local (Nigerian) adaptation of the song.
Moi aussi Marcel, my room mate introduced me to Jazz especially Bob James, Earl Klugh, Watanabe in 1987 at University of Ghana, Legon.

The year must have been 1982- nostalgia prevails
Still one of my favorites. Take me away gentlemen.
He is the greatest guitarist in my opinion I think
Healing, good times, grounding...there will be total restoration of everything lost.

Liked it instantly the first time I heard it on vinyl in 1981 working in a record shop. 42 years later and timeless from BJ.
And Earl Klugh? It is a collabration. And Bob and Earl are fantastic individually but also when they work together.
La touche de Bob James. Plus que parfaite. Bravo l'artiste.

Reminds me of spring 80 egg rolls & Cosmo burgers. Plus a visit from my not yet baby mama Beyonce Baylis.
KARI: a favorite of mine from "ONE ON ONE. Yep. Learned most of the guitar part. For the sake of the art.

It's called copyright. In this case, Warner Brothers owns the rights to it
