David had a huge influence on me as a teenage sax player. No one sounded like him. He changed the sound of the instrument, brought it into the modern age. R.I.P.
Why am I crying? Did I know Mr. Sanborn? No, but damn it, HE KNEW ME. RIP❤️
Yup..Crying with you, buddy. He moved our soul.

Just turned 60 a few months ago. Song is still timeless. A masterpiece!
Yes Yes Yes indeed it is!
Happy belated big 6-Oh
R.I.P. Mr David Sanborn....thank you for the amazing music.
Here to remember David Sanborn. Rest peacefully. ❤Always.
I saw the Double Vision tour a few years back . Pure heaven . I spoke to them after the show . All humble and pure class . RIP Dave . And also Chuck Loeb . Both will be missed !
Chuck Loeb! Great guitarist…had several albums of his when I was younger. How lucky you were to meet David and the band after the show…what a thrill! I went to a lot of concerts in my younger days…George Benson, Al Jarreau, Manhattan Transfer, Michael Franks…they were all SO great! 😊
Rest in Love David Sanborn! Your work was legendary to the mind, body and soul to all of us Jazz lovers! Thank you for your contribution to the world of Entertainment. You will truly truly be missed!
RIP David Sanborn. Legend of sax.
Thank you David Sanborn for the amazing music you shared with the world! That beautiful sound that set a standard and opened a new door!
2024 and it still sounds like today. 😊
And better in a lot of ways! Instrumental hits these days? There was a decade-by-decade statistic i saw a while ago that showed the dramatic decline of instrumentals becoming hits through the years. They barely exist now! But the '80s were bliss with mellow jazz coming on the scene! The '70s and '80s were the best...All sorts of music coming out that was amazing, But seeing Jazz and Country become "Pop" in the '80s was very cool!
What a loss, sometimes you wish these greats would live forever. RIP Dave, thanks for the wonderful music and memories, forever in our hearts.
This song reminds me growing up in the village in Eastern Cape(SA) ,no electricity, no television. The radio is all we had.
Say that again my brother, this song reminds me of Radio Transkei,. If not mistaken, it was played buy Hector Qhashane, naku rham-rham, at the back ground of his show.
Quality sounds good fir relaxing and for the troubled mind
battery powered radio?
Who else remembers pm9 n pm 10 batteries
@@bumfartbumfart2 yes pp10 or something . Had to fine tune and lower the volume to preserve the battery . When broke put it by the window to recharge a bit from the sun . 😊
Rest In Peace David Sanborn.

R.I.P. This is one sad, sad day.
I am so glad I saw him in August 2019 at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, with Bob James Marcus Miller and Boney James, that was an awesome concert The Double Vision Tour 🎷🎷😎
I was there too! And yes, that was like a Jazz Hall of Fame Lineup! Was celebrating my birthday that evening!
I love this song! He was definitely one of the Greats. Rest easy David❤❤❤
RIP David Sanborn. One of the best jazz maestros that ever lived
We should all pass away "with dates on our calendar." RIP David Sanborn. First time I saw you I was staying in a hotel across from a dumpy movie theater in Atlanta. I laughed at the marquee that read Bob James & David Sanborn. My introduction to The Fabulous Fox Theater, akin to my native New Orleans' Saenger Theatre...appropriate venues for entertainers such as Mr. Sanborn. Godspeed.
David Sanborn, You're the first thing I play every morning when i arrive in my classroom to start my day. MAPUTO is going to mean so much more to me now. May you Rip.😢
Beautiful song… got a glass of wine, cooking and relaxing after a long work week.. TGIF 😊
are you a girl?
I fell in love ❤️ with smooth jazz because of David Sanborn. He was the first smooth jazz artist I heard back in 1981

Heartbreaking to hear David Sanborn has passed. One of my favorite artists that helped get me through some difficult times. He will be missed ❤
Does anybody else remember this coming on channel 5 in the morning back in the 80s? RIP DS🎷
I don't. I definitely remember KKSF 103.7 fm, playing it. Especially in the evening hours. So smooth is right.
Mr. Sandborn helped shape the music of my youth and adulthood. Your extraordinary talent made me fall in love with jazz music. You’ve set the bar oh so high! Rest in peace dear sir! ❤️💔❤️
Rest in Heavenly Peace SIR, YOUR MUSIC WILL Continue to see Us Through!!❤

Before there was smooth jazz, there was Bob James and David Sandborn…
David Sanborn changed how I hear music as a singer!! RIP !!
In my humble opinion, 'DOUBLE VISION' is the best smooth jazz album of all time, and MAPUTO is arguably is one of the best smooth jazz songs ever.
I have to agree with you there. Bob James' Grand Piano Canyon is right up there along with Rippingtons Moonlighting as my favorite Smooth Jazz albums to round my top three.
@@mishunkontrol1874 : Yeah, I love The Rippingtons too... Moonlighting is amazing. The Rippingtons albums were a constant companion of mine while driving cross country.
Always said the same thing.

Its amazing...I live in Maputo - Capital of Mozambique and i saw Marcus Miller performing here. And he explained from where he gets Inspiration.
That is so cool! I didn't realize that Maputo was Mozambique's capital. Some college friends of mine introduced me to Maputo when I played in a jazz combo with them. As a bass player, I love the feel of this song
Please tell me how it is to live in Maputo in Mozambique. Do you have any American Black people living there?
@@RNLovelyRussell There probably are some, because there seems to be plenty of us moving to Tanzania which is very close. I was considering going there myself but I'm going to Ghana instead because of the easy path to residence. I'll be there early next year. I definitely plan to visit East Africa, particularly Tanzania and Maputo, Mozambique.
Beautiful city my man,i can see why Marcus, gets inspired!!
That's so awesome. I saw Marcus Miller & David Sanborn perform this live along with George Duke. It was probably one of the best live performances of this song I ever heard.
Music in Heaven just got a lot better!
Rest in Peace Mr. Sanborn. Loved your music.
Yep, 2024. We just lost David yesterday. 💔 Damn.
Peace to all those who love and miss him. 🤲🏽 The world is less bright today. And fcck cancer. 😢
This used to be one of my late dad's favourite song MHRP 🕊
Me too RIP
I always felt that this was the song that got David Sanborn to be apart of Michael Kamen's collab with Eric Clapton.
Ever since Richard Donner's passing, this song will always remind me of his Lethal Weapon Saga and how integral Kamen's music was for all 4 films.
Thank you Richard Donner and Michael Kamen for the memorable moments I had watching your films.
Rest in Peace David. Your contribution to Jazz will be felt through generations! Truly one of the best!
RIP....just love your music 🎷🎧🎤💙
This takes me back to those nights of blasting the pioneer stereo and listening to some of thes best Jazz. We will never get those days back, but the emotions, and day and night air listening to it, will last a lifetime. Those were the days.
Remember my days in Okinawa Nov. 1985-1986.
I've never done that!!!! Lol! Still have a Pioneer in one of my cars! The right one comes on and pray for the windows and door skins! Keep on crankin' it up!!

No wonder I love jazz so much - to put on a good pair of earphones, sit back, close your eyes & listen to all the different instruments & sounds coming through... Just Awesome 👍🏼

This is the song that got me into jazz. It used to be featured on a commercial for a jazz radio station out here in LA called the wave when it first launched. I was little. This song is also one of the reasons why i wanted to learn how to play thr sax when i was little. I randomly thought of this song and came to listen to it and im reading the comments and see l Dave Sanborn has passed away just yesterday. Damn. RIP.
Dedicated to one of my close highschool friends , Audrey Preston,( Class of 1980) who passed away from cancer in 2021. She asked to borrow this track ( a cassette) years ago and never gave it back… I see why !!!Now, David Sanborn is deceased… rest in heaven you two !

Started listening to R'n'B and soul at around 11/12 years of age. I am 22 years going on 23 and I have been exploring this type of music. My love for jazz and fusion grows exponentially on a daily basis. I LOVE IT HERE.
Keep it up, you caught the spirit, it's very fir someone your age to be fascinated by these kind of genre.

Even though I'm a retired pediatrician, and though I've loved science and math for so long, I'm not ashamed to admit that instrumental music as an alto, tenor and baritone sax player was my first love. And David Sanborn is and has definitely been my favorite sax player!
Check out Boney James!
