@GildedBlanco definitely no plated marks I appreciate your response. I have taken it to two jewlers and they both confirmed it was real gold solid. But they have no idea what the PJ stamp is
That´s a very stupid and absolutely unreliable way to test an item if is goldplated or solid gold! There are many ways to make an item look golden. Some of them will leave a stain on a towel. Rub your towel with toothpaste on your unwashed hands. You will see a stain too. Take your item to a professional juweler and they can tell you within minutes if the surface of your item is gold or not.
agreed! this is just for someone who is curious about their jewellery and doesn't have access or wants to got to a jeweller, but like you said a professional is always recommended to be absolutely certain!
Does the work on gold plated things ?
I have the miami cuban link and came out the same, thanks
Brass does the same! So which is which?
For brass you might need something like 14k acid
If theres black means gold?
Better chance it is
What about gold plated? This test still accurate?
I depends on the gold plate what’s the marking on it?
@@DonGilded says 14 K and 585
@@DonGilded also has a PJ stamp on the other end of the clasp
@@lorenzo2534 not marked for gold plated you would see something like 1/20, or GP, EP, GF. It could possibly still be solid gold

This is false. The black mark is from the non-gold materials in this less-that-24k gold piece. The toothpaste is merely a mild abrasive.
What about silver gold
There’s other test that can be done for silver
If my mark is it then?
Where is the fake gold for comparisson
didnt have any on me at the time, but I will come back and revisit this
Id like to know about gold plated jewelry?@DonGilded

Brass, copper, aluminum and silver will leave a black stain as well.
@@PA_Woodymost gold jewelry pieces are made with the metals you mentioned.
@@DonGildedIt will be stupid until you see a professional do it huh?? It’s actually helpful and pretty cool
@@WilliamBrown-uy8zlglad you found it helpful
