Does 14k italy gold stick to magnet?? Have 2 14k italy gold rope chains and the magnet picks up both. I know 14k is 14/24 % gold so was wondering if the other components in the necklace (the fillers that arent the 14% gold) could stick to the magnet?
Its probably 14k gold plated they can get away with label it karat grade stamp if they plate it with that same gold but not enough playing worth a dam tbh
The magnet test is unreliable there are other metals mixed in to make gold chains unless it 24 karat. Alot of pawn shop idiots use the magnet test and tell people their chain or ring is fake and are incorrect because magnet tests aren't reliable.
I have a question I wish to find an answer for it , the question is about items which made of gold but for some reason forging process included iron for the alloy, would acid test works in this case or iron even with little percentage will spoil acid test and give the result of no gold?! I have an old gold looking item which don’t chemically react with acetic acid as copper and brass do and shows slight magnetic properties as a sign for iron , exposing the item to heat makes it more brighter but acid test with a black stone gives a noticeable reaction and everything just disappear! Thank you!
Alright so I did the magnetic test on my 20 inch 5mm 14k Miami Cuban solid gold chain and the only thing that stuck a little with the lobster clasp portion. I also tried it on my 20inch 2mm 10k solid gold rope chain and same thing only thing that was a little magnetic was the lobster clasp. Is that normal?
You should explain the difference between ferromagnetic, paramagnetic, and diamagnetic. I'm lucky enough to have strong magnets, a positive material identification device, As well as several acid tests I can perform due to my NDT background. You should never really refer to a metal as non magnetic or just magnetic. There are, especially in gold and silver a difference.
No man , I brought it to the jewelry store and got it tested its real gold but cheaply made , I brought mine back tho and bought a higher quality chain
I was given a necklace and I was told it was gold but i cant find any markings. Its got a label on the package it came in with all kinds of numbers mainly serial numbers. It weighs 65 Grams. I am assuming its gold plated but it wouldn't even stick to my earth magnets
i just got sent one i paid over 2 grand for off ebay, fortunately im getting a refund, but i compared it to the one i wear already and it was nothing like it. When you shook it (bracelet 11mm cuban) it made a jingly sound when you shook it, and just didnt feel right. The gold colouring was closer to 24k than it was to the 14k it was supposed to be. Its on its way back to the states now. Guy had good feedback and all, jewellery business.
I have silver but mine I got from a lady selling silver from the Viking period its all cast silver no hallmark back then. U know any one whod buy a couple pieces of mine? My fab is I got a bronze ring w a stone in it . the stone was a cut stone and Vikings probably got it for a girl but the stone was not cut by Vikings. They probably took it out before they mwltws down the gold etc .
There are some exceptions to the magnetic rule. Occasionally, very fine chains will have a steel wire woven through the middle to add strength to the chain. The item in this case would have a very light pull to the magnet. Another esception is if it is only magnetic on the clasp then the magnet is just picking up the spring in the clasp. If the item sticks to the magnet firmly but it is marked then it is a falsely marked item. The term "Fool's Gold" is usually reserved for describing iron pyrite which is a crystalline salt structure of the element iron and it is not magnetic.
Dental gold and npg gold? What to know and marketing ploys.... Been thinkin of gettin a piece made of npg but I don't want t buy expensive crap.... Something decent
I looked up the tag on my chain. It said it was 20 micro inches of 24k gold with a copper core. It had a very light pull to the magnet. What does that mean? Is it fake?
I have a question... Do 24k gold come in different colors... I just bought a pendant it's machine made and it looks like a different color then my necklace which is also 24k
Yes, most clasps have a steel spring inside that is magnetic but typically the rest of the item will not be magnetic, including the jump rings. Occasionally, the jump ring will be magnetic if the original was replaced.
I apologize for the delayed reply. The vast majority of jewelry is marked with either a karat mark or a three digit number representing the purity, for example 585 is 14k, 417 is 10k, 750 is 18k. If your jewelry isn't marked and it is not magnetic then it is a good idea to have a professional look at it for you to see if it is solid gold or just gold plated.
I am having a hard time picturing the gold chain. If it is multiple chains put together and some of them are magnetic then it is likely that all of it is gold plated. I hope this helps!
Somebody ought to go back and edit out the intro sniffle. Or maybe it was left there on purpose, what do I know? Certainly don't know much 'bout gold, reckon.
Last thing I would do .... if I didn’t know if it was real or not .... Is drop it off with someone so they can test it and let me know. LOL. that’s funny right there. Come on Down so I can finagle you!!!!
This business is a big scam I learned the hard way alot of people gold is gold filled multiple layers of gold over copper brass material so when you file it down it still fools you because the shine is the same not even solid and you need a expensive device to detect if its real solid 18k or 14k gold.Even top sellers know this and still scams people out ther money....gold is rare remember that!!
So you just wasted my time so you check your gold with a magnet and if it doesn’t magnet it means it can be coper just take this video down cause it makes no sense
I wish you would quit manhandling the pretty jewelry, plated or not. Banging the magnet on the gold necklace is so stupid. Stirring the pile roughly so the pieces scratch each other is stupid too. You are acting like a kid.

Some white gold is magnetic. Same with silver. Depends what metals are added.
True
I just bought a chain off Amazon, it’s 10k yellow gold, I put the magnet to it it just reacts a little bit , but don’t stick right to it
Josh me too is it fake?

What if the jewelry is marked but the magnetic picks it up. Is it "fools gold"?
There are some exceptions to the magnetic rule. Occasionally, very fine chains will have a steel wire woven through the middle to add strength to the chain. The item in this case would have a very light pull to the magnet. Another esception is if it is only magnetic on the clasp then the magnet is just picking up the spring in the clasp.

Not really....all it tells you is if a piece is fake, it doesn't tell you if it's real though
I looked up the tag on my chain. It said it was 20 micro inches of 24k gold with a copper core. It had a very light pull to the magnet. What does that mean? Is it fake?
Jordan Dahl scratch test
Yeah dipped copper in gold
I have a question... Do 24k gold come in different colors... I just bought a pendant it's machine made and it looks like a different color then my necklace which is also 24k
Omega45vong yes for exampel indian gold is more yellow
Omega45vong they’re both probably fake... rarely is 24K gold used in jewelry.. too impractical
Only the clamp is sticking to it
So I bought a chain for $2.500, and the next day my neck turned all green, do you think I got ripped off?🤔💨
No fucking shit.
Yup
Lol.....
Damn another video said that if it’s magnetic then it’s real gold….
Everyone talking about magnet hell i dont have one lol im getting frustrated
Q: How to test for Gold at home

how do u know if it doesn't have a karrot sign

Just run (place) your gold necklace on your ipad and see if it stick to it
