    Well my wife gave to me the SN9YG with the additional 2 rear speakers kit. It was supposedly a 7.1.2 system. It was pretty damn bad. Even my Vizio v51-h6 (a $250 piece) had better and deeper bass and more noticiable surrounds. First I had problem with the subwoofer disconnecting too often mid playback, then height effects were totally absent, I tried so much to make it sound well and I end up returninng it and getting a Vizio elevate for the living room and it blew my mind. I got the elevate thanks for you review which was on point.

    • @mattpipke5716
      @mattpipke5716 3 года назад

      See I was on board with the elevate but he and others talked me out of by saying the set up was sketchy and it would randomly just shut off or ignore commands and stuff, are you having any bad experiences with your elevate?
      What tv are you using it with? are you using the Earc?
      Do you have a game consoles set up as well?

    • @HoracioPz
      @HoracioPz 3 года назад +1

      @@mattpipke5716 I have it connected to a vizio oled tv, now it works perfectly fine using eARC but there are a few caveats in my very personal use case. See, I have a nvidia shield pro, and I had the issue that if I connect the shield to the sound bar, then use a single cable from the elevate to the TV (single cable taking shields and sound signal) would have very annoying input issues and would make it totally impossible to use the vizio elevate as "hdmi switch" This will cause the TV to turn on with "no signal in HDMI 1 (eARC) when sound was playing. Needed to use TVs remote to cycle through the inputs until it recognizes the shield properly. Now this issue will not happen if I have the shield connected to the TV directly. So it will mean two cables, one for shield and one for sound bar, this works perfectly fine and all my content works in dolbly vision and dolby atmos from the shield and the TV and sound bar pick them up instantly. It is a very nice experience. Just don't use the soundbar as primary HDMI passthrough, use your tv

    • @HoracioPz
      @HoracioPz 3 года назад

      @@mattpipke5716 Also, I have a nintendo switch, same issue as the nvidia shield. If the console is connected to the sound bar and tried to use the passthrough, the inputs go crazy. The good thing is that the vizio TV has 4 HDMI ports, on which one eARC for sound bar, one for the shield which I use to scream grames from my desktop with gamestream, also to watch normal media like netflix and disney plus. I just have one HDMI port left waiting for the PS5 that I'm having issues to get.

    I’m probably going to just by the Sonos Arc + sub and surrounds as I’m fed up of LG stuff. Had the same problem with an LG fridge that had a faulty PCB and it used to heat the food rather than chill it. End of my LG journey with this soundbar.

    Great video! I’ve had the SN11RG for about a month and after spending hours listening to the different sound effect modes and tweaking settings, I’ve found that the “Music” setting actually sounds the best for music. Each to their own, I guess!
    I used to also have the SK10Y and for that one, I had it set to standard. The SN11RG on standard sounds worse than the SK10Y, in my opinion.
    The SN11RG for movies kicks arse over the SK10Y, but for music, the SK10Y sounded so much cleaner than the SN11RG.

    It seems that the soundbar itself is too thin, shrinking all the internal speakers. I wonder if that is why it doesn’t sound balanced and sounds flat? It also makes the surrounds look bigger than they probably are and the 7” sub is the smallest yet. For the price, there are definitely better options. It almost seems on par with the comparable Visio at $800.

    • @JonahMatthes

      I agree. I think the physical thinness of the soundbar is why it sounds like this. The surrounds are larger than any other system I’ve looked at, including the Samsung HW-Q950T. But the subwoofer is tiny in comparison. 8” seems to be the standard, and some have used 10” subs.

      Same. The entire LG SN11R was €100 cheaper with BF vs. just the Sonos Arc itself. I tried to make a logical choice (heart went to Sonos... but no Arc discounts), so LG it was.
      After using it for a few days, I had very mixed results. Used AI calibration, tried all settings, sat in different places. Sometimes it sounded very good, sometimes underwhelming, usually OK. It was all over the place and just didn’t impress me and others I asked to listen to it.
      I just ordered the Arc to compare and it always sounded good. So sometimes, the LG was better, but it had a freakin sub and rears lol. Hearing the quality of the Arc itself, I decided to go that way. Already added 2 One SL’s and it’s impressive, I’m glad I did. Someday, I hope to add the Sub as well.
      So yeah, LG was underwhelming for me. It was weird seeing WhatHifi giving it a 2/5 (while a lot of very positive reviews are out there), but sadly I agreed after trying it.

    Really great report. Thank you for confirming my concerns about the LG system. For me its come down to the current Samsung 950 system or the Sonos Arc with Sub and SL rears. I am leaning heavily toward the Sonos at this point. I don't care for the cloth on the Samsung and the display on top? That's just bad engineering. You need to see the display from your viewing position. Sorry for the off topic, but it seems most people looking at Soundbars come down to the same handful of options in late 2020 and early 2021. You earned my subscribe for sure!

    EDIT: (I got over whelmed a little, but after much reflection and thinking and looking up specs of everything I own, I decided to try the LG SN11RG for now and if that doesnt check all the boxed we will re assess.)
    Every time I think I found my new sound bar you talk me out of it at the end.
    So, what else is out that offers earc, atmos a sub and 2 speakers and sounds BETTER than this for 1500?
    It needs to have earc, atmos, a sub and rear speakers and an interface that works.
    What to get for my 77" CX LG Oled and Series X, plus 4k fire stick.
    I just want a reliable upgradeable soundbar that offers 5.1.2 min, or 5.2.2 or even 7.1.2/7.2.2, I like the idea of being able to add a second sub if I want.
    So now what? no Sonos, no Vizio elevate, No LG sn11, no Samsung Q90, I dont really want to build a Sony receiver /speaker set up although it is an option.
    So what is better than these?"
    I looked at the vizio elevate and thought ID like it, but then multiple reviews werent crazy about its reliability to do what it is supposed to do and who wants to deal with that, the Nakamichi 7.2 system looks great, but it isnt earc, I dont get why not but I really dont want to run my series x to a sound bar with hdmi 2.0 it just isnt going to work, so then I look at the Sonos, I dont use any apple products as a rule, so needing an iphone to set it up rules it out but then the price is ridiculous too, I can build a cheap receiver speaker set up for 999.99 so why would I pay double that for a sound bar and a sound bar with the imitations of connections this one has? Im getting worn out here.

    • @JonahMatthes
      @JonahMatthes  3 года назад +1

      Just because a system has some downsides doesn't mean it's not good. No system is perfect unless you want to pay an extra premium.
      Sonos Arc, Sub, and One SLs is a great system (once you run Trueplay tuning, you won't need an iphone again. Link your music services with the sonos app), Samsung Q950T's reliability has improved over time w/ fw updates (it's a good option), JBL Bar 9.1 is outstanding, but the rear speakers have to be charged.
      Again, no system is perfect. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Buy a system and try it out. If you don't like it, then return it. That's the best way to figure out what you truly like.

      We are in a smaller room 12x12 essentially open on one side, regular ceilings.
      I just think for 1100.00 for movies and games it will be the best solution for us.
      I was considering the Samsung but it doesnt support PCM 5.1 in the center speaker and I hate the cloth and the display placement, I know those things dont make the sound better but Im goign to start with the LG, if we don't like it, Ill return it and try the Samsung.
