What about Peter Jackson’s King Kong? A ambitious Jack Black, Brody, Naomi Watts…Andy Serkis? (Gollum,Snoke) Wtf?! it was set in the 1930s, but made in 2005…great visuals, still holds up. A total hidden gem. It’s like the prequel to Skull Island..yet skull island was actually the sequel/prequel/reboot to it.

My reasoning for picking 2014 godzilla first is this... The way godzilla was portrayed in this movie is exactly as it would be in real life, he is a lizard titan rampaging through the city... It also had kind of a horror aspect to it as the movie had a dark setting filled with smoke and the idea that you could hardly see something as bug as godzilla amongst all the smoke and dust... Now some minor issues... Godzilla only glowed as he was about to use/using his atomic breath but now it's like he has a huge ambient light on him all the time... Not very scary, stealthy or anything... Also the colour of his glow in 2014 was more whitish then neon blue which is much more unrealistic and childish... The camera angles were almost all on the floor which made godzilla and the mutos look absolutely huge amongst the city and there were plenty of people around to show to true scale fo them... And my favourite bit, there arnt any stupid silly "relationships" between the giant fuck off titans and some tiny girl... The reason I'm put off some of the more recent films is I think here is now too much human interaction... I'm not sure how else they would go about it but I just dont like that they can "communicate" with them and help them with things... He also didnt sprint in 2014 like in the new one... Its like they forgot hes a 300ton giant Its just not the same... I still love the film tho and will watch them all the time but thats my opinion, each to their own...
