Insta360 One X3 Snowboarding Review

- All last snowboard season the insta360 OneX2 was my go to action camera but I recently upgraded to the Insta360 OneX3. So in this video I wanted to take the One X3 snowboarding and use it’s variety of shooting modes to see how the quality looked, how the different shooting modes worked, how it performed, how it’s battery life was, to see just was it worth the upgrade from the X2. While snowboarding I used the Timelapse, timeshift, 4k single lens mode, me mode, bullet time and of course the 360 mode! I have to say for testing the camera the lighting conditions were just about perfect and the snowmakers were running as well which gave it all a pretty epic look. So how did the one X3 do snowboarding? Let’s find out

Siick review man. Ive been going back and forth on the insta 360 cams since last season. What is the frame rate difference between 360 and Me Mode? The quality is def there in me mode but I wish it wouldnt clip out the tip of your snowboard. Is there a longer stick you can get to prevent that or were you not quite extending your arm all the way out? Subbed bro, happy shreddin
Thanks man! The insta360 is definitely the way to go. I was a huge gopro fan for years and nobody else could compete but now I’m straight insta360. Way more fun to use, bigger variety of shots and the battery life is so much better. On 360 its 30fps and me mode it’s 60. So I didn’t realize it when I filmed it because I was thinking the same thing, but when I exported it I didn’t have it set to the widest FOV so it actually does show the entire board. In post you can select how wide you want the angle and I had it set to the middle of the range. It was my first time using me mode so I didn’t realize it 😅

I think the x2 is a great camera but the x3 just has a slightly better image quality, plus me mode 😁🙌🏻I actually just posted my 1 year review of this camera
very good review, just had a question regarding the fish eye lens, how durable are they and are you using the lens protectors?
Thanks for checking it out! So in the winter I don’t run the protectors but I do in the summer. I do my best to protect them and when I’m not riding a lot of times I’ll put on the rubber cap till it’s time to record. But I’ve dropped it in the snow and stuff many times and it doesn’t hurt them. In the summer I use it to mountain bike and onewheel and I do use the protectors then because I know it’s a much tougher surface if something does go wrong
I’d definitely bet the insta360 care just incase. I have had to replace the lens on one and it makes the process much easier, faster and cheaper. (I scratched one in a onewheel crash without protectors)
Just got the X3 and heading to tahoe in a week. Have nonidea about editing. Using this camera just for snowboarding. From what I understand me kodenis great for the reasons you said and also it always focusing on you, obviously 360 kide will give you a lot more options on views when editing whereas me kode will be likited wuth the single lens.... whats your opinion on me vs 360 snowboarding. I do want to get the best views.
Nice!!! You’re going to love it! I like using a good combo of both. I prefer the 360 mode just because you never miss the shot that way, the angles a bit wider and reframing is a little more time consuming but it’s super easy to do on the phone in the app. You can basically add the points for it to focus or auto track( you draw a box around your subject and the camera will do the rest) That being said me mode looks SUPER SMOOTH, and better for powder riding or if you’re wanting my slowmo shots. It is a little more cropped in but if I’m riding solo it’s my go to method just to save me some time reframing. I’d say I use 360 hdr mode 60% of the time and me mode probably 40%

hii, could you tell me the camera settings that you use? because I don’t know if it’s better record in 6k or 4k for social media or youtube! ❄️
I record everything in 5.7 K and then depending on what I’m working on I will export it in either 1080 P or 4K. Where you are filming everything in the 5.7 K in 360, when you actually compress the file into a flat image it’s really only 1080 P unless you’re just shooting with the 4K single lens. But a lot of times for social media. I will export it in 4K to give it a slightly higher quality file.

have you tried the go pro as well? which would you chose?
This is actually my first year without a GoPro. Normally I’ve always had one and last year I had the insta360 and the hero 10. I love gopro and I still think the image quality of the shot is the best you can get. But the insta360 is dang close and way more fun and reliable to use. I never miss the shot because of the 360 footage, I can do a whole day on 1 battery vs gopro it would take me 3-4 batteries.
I had the gopro max a few years ago as well and for 360 footage I think the insta360 is much better. You can barley see the stitch line Vs on the max is was fairly noticeable
maybe it’s a dumb question but can you record the stuff in from of you in me mode. like let’s say i want to record my friend
Nope, if that’s the case the standard 360 mode will be your best bet, or use the 4k single lens. Me mode only focuses looking down the selfie stick😁
Have you noticed any issues with heat? I noticed the go pro 11 overheats very quickly when shooting HD shots and writing a lot of data.
I’ve been ran the x2 for a year and a half, now I have the x3 and the one RS and have never had a problem with any of them whatsoever. I had the hero 10 overheat and also get too cold to turn on, on multiple occasions. The insta360s have never met me down!
I wanted to get a hero 11 because of the insane quality but the dependability of the insta360 I just decided to go full insta360 for the time being

i've been watching a lot of other vids on this camera but for some reason yours looks like a green screen behind you. all the others didn't. hmm weird. not sure if different settings LOL
Maybe different settings or filmed after a software update 🤷🏻♂️ I dk I love the camera. I’ve taken it all over the place this season
