I'm excited to try these. Made your lemon bars back at Thanksgiving and they were a huge hit.
Okay this is starting to get creepy. I read in one of your previous video how you read everyone’s mind. I was craving a cheese danish and I have one in my hand this very moment.
Me too! My father in law looooves danishes and I was trying to find an easy recipe. Boom! John saves the day ❤
Oh wow! Perfect timing!!
It’s the algorithm and the matrix lol
Not me! So I’m going to cry like a little baby! I want a danish! Wah 😭 😩. OK I’m done 😂
NO YESSSS HE DOSE HES DONE TO ME LIKE FIVE TIMESSSS
I truly love all your recipes 💕 so easy to follow them.
Thank you and looking forward to follow more of your recipes in 2024. Happy New Year friends!! 🙏🏼 🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🥂🥂
i made this with readymade puff pastry and it was perfect yayyy
Looks great John! Cheese Danishes look delicious 😋
Thank you!!!
Excellent recipe, I make these as a special treat but had not thought of putting lemon juice with the cream cheese, I will try your recipe when I next make them. Just to add, I occasionally put a halved apricot (canned) on top of the cream cheese and after baking, I glaze the danish with peach or apricot conserve.
Darn !!! those look sooooo delicious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you
Wowwww sooo delicious
looks very very yummy 👌❤️
Mmmm..look delicious!
Could you use eggnog for the liquid in the glaze?
Why don't you share some tea time vanilla and chocolate cake recipes?? Pls do so I am terribly looking for a perfect tea time cake recipe .pls help plssssss
How about adding some jam?
My favorite glaze for any/all pastry is an equal weight of melted butter and sweetened condensed milk. When I was working at the Paris Resort in Las Vegas, the Executive Pastry Chef once told me "dont waste your time trying to perfect a pastry glaze....do this, instead...it is the secret difference between home baking and 'bake shop' pastries.
Thank you! Yum!
I actually love this guy's videos, he's really fun and calm to watch and he looks like he just straight up enjoys everything he's doing plus they give you an actually clear and fun recipe to do
Me to. He’s fun, adorable, doesn’t matter if he has some “bloopers” (what really happens to lots of us in the kitchen) I don’t like videos that appear “perfect” when making a recipe😖 I’ve made some of his recipes and I’m delighted !! And my family🙃
His recipes are REALLY good too!!
I've lived in France and Italy for the last 17 years, and even with all the wonderful pastries they make in both counties, nothing compares to the delicious cheese Danish I used to get at the bakery back home! From time to time I've thought of them, but could never remember the recipe! I'm so excited to try this one myself! Thank you!
How did it come out?
@@issjessica779 OMG - it was so good! And so easy using puff pastry! Next time
I may try other frits, just to see! Thanks for asking!
@@cherylmarieantierthewoo thanks for telling me
@@issjessica779 No problem! If you try them, let me know how your turn out!
How long do they take ?
I just love the quick recipes for when you want something sweet, but don’t want to make something that takes to long to bake. This is fast to make and not much is needed. 🤤🤤👍🏼👍🏼
I can't bring myself to buy the store made puffed pastry dough, those companies use some of the most unhealthiest oils. Yeah, I know it's dessert, but I do my baking with either light olive oil or butter.
Oh my goodness! Yes! Cheese danishes are my one weakness. I have to make this recipe, and will probably end up eating them all by myself.
Very easy to make and was definitely a hit between my friends. I had actually doubled the recipe so that each of my friends could have at least 2 but apparently it wasn't enough since they fought over the last one I was saving for a friend who hadn't arrived just yet. They only relinquished it when I told them I'll make another batch for next week.
I loved hearing the crunch when he took the first bite! 😋
Can't wait to try this!!!
That made me happy too!
I LOVE cheese danishes! I’ll definitely have to make these when my fridge is less full of desserts 😂
you made a great recipe, greetings from turkey🙋♀️
You should make a lemon cheesecake (or mini cheesecakes) I would love that!!
Oh yes! Please!
Hi there! He already made mini cheesecakes like a year ago :) You can find the recipe here on RUclips. I made them and they were delicious! :)
@@lauravg515 no lol I meant like mini lemon cheesecakes
@@ashleylockhead17 really wouldn't hurt you to be polite
@@lauravg515 I am being polite I was just saying what I meant by my commneb
Goodness! When you bite into that and u heard the crunch I salivated 😂 that looks and sounds soooooo heavenly delicious. I've been trying out alot of out recipes and omg you know what you're doing sir. Lol. Your recipes are gold🔥 xoxo love from Trinidad
So odd that you use cheese! Here in Denmark a Danish is firstly called Viennese bread, because it was Austrian bakers, who introduced it in Denmark, when Danish bakers went on a strike.
They became so popular that the Danish bakers started making them too.
Here they are solely sweet. With a ton of different shapes and fillings. My favourite is a rum snail. It has rum flavour, cinnamon , yellow icing and sprinkles. It is shaped like the shell on the snail’s back.
In the US, cheese danish is very common.
PLEASE do a swedish princess cake 😍✨
I’m not a great baker but this was so easy to follow and it came out amazing! My 65 year old mother asked me to tell you that she loved them. She’s immunocompromised so it’s been nearly two years since she’s been able to take a trip out to her favorite bakery to have a “quality cream cheese danish” I made them for her so she could have one fresh. Thank you from us both 🥰
In Sweden they call Danish 'Viennese Pastry', my cousins told me that's where it originated, but making the pastry from scratch with Danish butter made it even better, hence the name in the USA. Homemade Danish is so much better than most bakeries, I used to make it years ago.
Hello I'm from Denmark, and yes we call it 'Viennese bread' (Wienerbrød).
However, the type of pastry evolved over time in Denmark. The name comes from the fact that laminated dough in general originated in Vienna. From there it travelled the continent, resulting in croissants in France and danishes in Denmark.
Puff pastry, croissant pastry and Danish pastry are all laminated doughs but are not the same thing. There is much more butter in Danish pastry and Danish butter was/is of high quality. Perhaps that is your cousins connection between Danish pastry and Danish butter.
I made the cheese danishes and your banana pudding recipes, everything turned out amazingly! Thank you
This recipe was a resounding success with my entire family! I’ve been asked to translate it into Spanish and teach everyone how to make these delicious danishes. They’d never had one before and their lives have been forever changed thanks to you! Thank you so much!
Que delicia!
The printed version of the recipe says 6 oz while the demonstrated version used 8 oz

Hi Ashley! Happy baking!
I love Preppy Kitchen recipes but I’ve noticed consistently contradictory cooking temps listed between the written recipes and on the video. It’s pretty frustrating. For example, your apple pie recipe on the webpage says bake at 350° and the video says 400°. Quite a difference. Cheers!
It's pretty sad that he can't follow his own recipes when he makes the videos. Since he said he had extra filling in the video (and that he'd report back on spillage - which he never did) I checked the recipe to see if there was advice there. The advice would be to follow the recipe and use 6 oz. of cream cheese and not the 8 oz (a whole block) that he used in the video.
I have made these and I used orange marmalade instead of lemon, and powdered sugar instead of sugar. OMG. Absolutely delicious! I'm getting ready to make more this Sunday morning so just watching video against to refresh my memory. Hubby loved them!
i just started baking and i am so impressed by your skill for baking and the abundance of baking ideas you have!!! very awesome honestly
My dad used to own a resturaunt when I was little so he'd always go to Costco for resturaunt supplies and one of the highlights of going would be the plate of danishes he'd get just for our home. I LOVED the cheese ones
this makes me really happy aw 🥲
I made these yesterday for breakfast and they turned out amazing. My whole family loved them! I used vanilla bean paste and they were so good 😍
Felt like cheese and pastry but realised pretty quick these are sweet ones. Can you make a savoury version too? ❤️
Im trying this 100%. It looks like me gma used to make. Keep up the great work!
Hope you enjoy!!!
My Husband will love these-I am sure I can use cherry pie filling too-thanx for sharing
I started watching your videos a couple years ago and I can’t stop making your recipes because they’re so good!!
I really loved making these, I even added my homemade pineberry jam to them (I used your strawberry jam recipe/video). I'd like to make a smaller version so I can share these with coworkers, but I'm not a great baker at all. How do I adjust the size, temp and cook time to make like a mini version of these?
Omg never seen this before. Looks delicious 🤤
Thank you 😋
Great googly-moogly... I think I could actually make these. And I wouldn’t have to spend hours looking back and forth at the recipe while my ADHD brain drops information.
Just by the thumbnail I know this is gonna be so good!
Thank you!! They are such and easy and delicious treat
Had a snow day, so finally had a chance to do some baking. These did not disappoint!
Interesting 🤔
I’m going to try this .
🤩🤩🤩
I was literally searching for a cheese danish recipe from John and boom, I get this notification! I am totally making these!
Looks wonderful! So quick and easy. Have to try it. Thanks for all your great videos and recipes! You are very talented and cook with such ease and enjoyment. Love watching you!
Sometimes the simplest things are the most delicious! I love cheese danish, can’t wait to make these😀💕
Just made some my family loved them! Thanks for the hard work it takes to make your videos.
Thanks John, this diet is never going to get started at this rate! 😂. Great recipe thanks!👍
Yum!!
I wish people would show how to make it straight from the garden or animal then cook it in the kitchen on RUclips so I can make it my self
Please attempt to make gulab jamun and/or ras malai! We love when you highlight different cultures & cuisines💕
Thanks so much for a wonderfully detailed demonstration. As a teacher I can tell you that knowing information is one thing. Knowing how to effectively impart it to others is the real skill. Not everyone knows how to do tha;t. But you certainly do. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I'm happy to say I'm motivated. Can't wait to start.
I loved the vending machine ones too!!! Old school haha😂
I watched your video and then I printed off the recipe. The printed recipe calls for 6 ounces of cream cheese, however the video shows 8 ounces. If using store bought pastry you are to cut each sheet into 8 4-inch squares, however the video indicates you cut each sheet into 4 squares and they looked bigger than 4-inches. Which is it?
I thought the same thing regarding the number of squares after reading the recipe. But I think he was referring to 2 sheets making 8 squares since the recipe called for 1 box of puffed pastry thawed and the number of servings = 8 and the written recipe said roll both sheets to eliminate the crease.
However, there is definitely a discrepancy with the amount of cream cheese. Perhaps he reduced the amount in the written recipe since there was quite a bit left over? Only a guess since he did not respond to your inquiry.
Can you add raspberry, cherry or blueberry to the 1 tbs. Cheese filling to kick them up a bit, or do you replace the cheese filling with the fruit filling? Still looks so yummy!
Just add the jam on top of the filling
I'm too lazy to make my own pastry dough. I use a can of croissant dough from the refrigerator section at the grocery store. I mix the jam (or lemon curd) into the soft cream cheese and spread it on the dough before rolling it up (like cinnamon rolls). Slice and bake til light golden color.
Thanks for your amazing channel!
Yum. You really know your audience!

I'm danish and I've never heard of this 😂 but it looks good
Danish is the name of the pastry he’s not saying it’s a recipe from Denmark
@@evagwennie duh ;)
This looks super fun! I just love a new Preppy Kitchen video. Thank John!
I can’t wait to make these for my mom and aunt. I’m not a lemon person, I think I was traumatized as a youngster having to dust with lemon Pledge constantly.
I really like the way you talk. You're a natural teacher.
I made these and they were delicious! Very easy to make too. I had a lot of filling left over and suggest you buy twice as much puff pastry than recommended because the filling goes a long way in the recipe. Thanks!
Hey John! Weird ask, but how do you end up cleaning your silicone mats? its been a little bit of a pain to clean ours!
I grew up on these in NYC. My grams recipe is different, but I’m gonna give these a try. Hope the boys & Brian are doing great. Saw that beautiful sunset reel, then the snow. The boys must be loving it ❤️🌈
Yummy! All my fav flavors! I've made my own laminated pastry dough from scratch. However it's tough to keep from over working it, which makes it too chewy, even tough. I still need to practice making that kind of dough. Puff pastry seem to be a good substitute. The - FILLER- looks - KILLER! lol
Cheese Danish, my favorite kind of danish...can't wait to try these! Thks for sharing your recipe, John!!!
Incredible recipe!!! Yummy!!! Tasty like grandma's!!! Thanks for the good vibes!!👍😉
Never tried these before , look delicious tho so making nowwww💕✨
Delicious thanks for sharing ❤️🎊🎉💕💐🎁🎁🇩🇰🇩🇰✔️👍😋😋
These look wonderful! I love the cheese filling! I know that filling from Polish pastries, but I think they use a yeasted dough, more like a sweet bread, not puff pastry.
starbucks cheese danishs are og!
I recently made these using the Preppy Kitchen pastry dough recipe and they were absolutely phenomenal. Note to anyone going off of the written recipe: the website calls for 6oz of cream cheese but John uses 8oz in the video. I was wondering why my filling was so runny!
Still, they were delicious regardless.
Johnny! We needed cheese danishes and we’d forgotten! Leave it to you to remind us! 🥰
I’m so making these! Thank you
That looks so yummy and refreshing. The way you prepared is so wonderful. 🤝stay connected🧡
OMG high school. I was the
Weird one choosing a Danish.
most times a pkg. Lol
Great practical and yummy.
Thank you Mr. Preppy. ❤️🎶🎶🎶🎁🙏
Question Preppy Kitchen! Yeah, so I usually follow Natashas Kitchen Danish Recipe and they come out really well. I've ran into this issues every other time I make the Danishes, I put the egg wash on and bake for 20-25 min and they have an egg taste to them. I know for a fact that the egg wash's egg are fresh from Trader Joes, so I know it's bc the eggs is bad. Do you know what I can do to avoid this? If there's no egg wash than it looks pale and undercooked. Please help me out, I'm embarrassed since I made the Danish's for a potluck at my job, sucks man.
Although it's not a perfect original danis recipe, it looks and sounds totally perfect. 🥰
Once in your life you should come to Denmark and eat original Danish at breakfast every day for a week.
You would be so welcome! ❤
- Remember to ask the native where to finde the best and most original pastries baker.
Just had my sister talk me out of buying a cheese danish at Starbucks. So perfect timing
Oh I'm so going to make these, thank you Jon!!
Cheese danish is my favorite! These look easy. I'm definitely going to make them. Love your videos.
John! I love you and love your videos. Huge fan. I’ve made too many of your recipes to count at this point. I will also probably try this recipe because I love cheese danish, but the background music in this video made this one hard to watch with the AirPods. I thought I was at a fun house, lol. Still looking forward to the next video though. (written with love💕)
you are, by far, my favorite cook. I could watch you all day!
I love watching your videos. You make it look so easy and you’re always entertaining. I made the chicken pot pie and it was amazing I’ll be trying these soon.
I'm so gonna make this! Looks amazing.🤤
AMAZING THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME,
I would toss the “puff pastry scraps”, in cinnamon sugar, and bake until crisp!! Yuuum!!!!
I can't wait to try these... I am going to attempt your puff pastry dough recipe as well... Wish me luck! LOL!
for the people here who are interested in an authentic danish heres a recipe for authentic filling.
2dl whole milk
2 eggyolks
40g of sugar
20g of cornstarch
1 tsp of vanilasugar or if youre fancy a bellow of vanila
disolve the cornstarch in a cup with a bit of the milk
mix the other ingridients in a pot over medium high heat untill boil with continuesly stirring.
after the boil take off heat, mix in the cornstarch mixture. and keep stirring until it starts thickening this can take a few mins.
pour it into a bowl and refrigerate until cool and its ready for use.
I used your puff pastry recipe for this and totally missed the fact that I should use European butter. Oddly enough, my puff pastry turned out great and the cheese danishes look exactly like yours! They were absolutely delicious
Everytime the scales get pushed I expect to hear a crash to the floor sound..... Every single video 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
I made Natasha’s danish a while back and they’ve been hit or miss only bc sometimes they have this egg smell. My work got us Kneaders danishes, too a bite and could smell that eggs smell, very off putting, so mine come out like that and a professional bakery that specializes in did to, what do you do to avoid that?
puff pastry and danish pastry are 2 different things, can you make a video of DANISH pastry dough?
My filling turned out really liquidy :(
I did everything exact same as the recipe says except I doubled everything
Help D:
Hello, in your link for homemade puff pastry you show a picture of the ingredients needed but I do not see the exact proportions needed in your step by step instructions 🤷 help !!
Thanks in advance 👍
These look delicious!
Thanks so much!!
JOHN, THERE IS NO CREAM CHEESE!!!! What was Brian thinking???
