    Hi! Nail tech here! Yes the UV gel top coat method is legit! Just make sure your normal lacquer underneath is fully dry!!! That’s very important! Also another tip for the polish on the skin issue is put your top coat on and get some top coat on the polish you got on your skin and then take a cuticle pusher the tip end not the scoop end and it’ll just come right off giving you a super clean line!❤

    • @katgirlblue

      Does the gel top coat dry out the nails, and will it work without UV light? Thanks!

    • @keelyboulter1992
      @keelyboulter1992 Год назад +22

      @@katgirlblue the gel top coat has to have the uv light yes. And it won’t dry you out more than any other nail enhancement. Now as always there’s always risk of allergies and you CAN become allergic to gel and uv products over time. It’s rare but it can happen! Always remember to oil those cuticles ladies! I hope this helps ❤️

    Hi Tati, I recently heard a tip about doing Gel manicures. Apparently, the UV lights that are used to cure the nails can cause a lot of sun damage to our hands. So, whenever you use the light make sure you have sunscreen on your hands to stop them from aging prematurely. I never thought about it before, but it makes total sense. We are constantly protecting our faces from UV. ❤

    Here is a tip that I wanted to share. It’s been a game changer for me. I struggled with my lashes falling after I curled them. The tip is:
    1. Curl lashes
    2. Put a whisper of WATERPROOF mascara on first.

    My favorite hack for rejuvenating old mascara: fill a cup with boiling (or at least very hot) tap water, then stick the mascara tube into the cup, after first making sure that the tube is tightly sealed (you never want to add water to the mascara itself; you add bacteria to the mascara and that's not good). Let the tube sit in the hot water for about five minutes, then remove the tube, dry it off, and use like usual. The dried, thick mascara on the inside of the tube will have softened and thinned out, making it very much like new.

    You are so right, Tati. I was wondering why the brush works so much better sometimes and terrible in other times. Yes, I was taught to keep a silk scarf for this purpose. Also, years ago I worked at Bergdorf Goodman and the people who worked in the designer clothes area always gave the client a large square silk scarf to put over their head to try on clothes, otherwise there would be makeup on the clothes, and also it ruins the client's hair! It's the same principle as using a silk pillowcase, which anyone with hair should do!

      The only way it could cause an infection is if you don’t Sanitize the product before using or if the regular polish hasn’t dried fully before applying the gel topcoat, causing moisture underneath. How do you keep makeup off of Lulu scuba neck hoodie when zipped up? Or Canada goose parka when zipped all the way up? I always have tinted sunscreen or makeup on corners at top of zipper when I don’t have it fully closed.

      I wear a scarf with my parka to create a barrier from my foundation. For the times that I have forgot to do that, I used micellar water on a cotton pad and was able to remove the makeup.

    Yes! I love this! My one concern is about the polish. I had the same thought, but when I looked into it, people said it might not be a good idea only because it never gives the normal polish an opportunity to fully dry. This traps moisture under the topcoat and can potentially lead to an infection. Just wanted to let you know what I heard! Love the oily hair trick though, im definitely about to try that ❤ love you girl!

      Yes that’s exactly why applying gel over regular polish might be an issue. I swatch and I’m really into getting info out there. Take care!

      Good point, buuut what if you wait for the polish to dry and then apply the gel coat? Hmmm...

    • @vikicarts1772
      @vikicarts1772 Год назад +5

      @@ramonaavram7527 it's still not recommended. Gel polish is like a plastic which cures as opposed to drying. It's makes a seal and will trap any moisture right by yr natural nail. You might get away with it for a while but it's so bad for your natural nails 💗

    • @RomyArg30
      @RomyArg30 Год назад

      yes, the you can do it, but you would have to wait 24hs, regular polish does not dry in a couple of minutes, even if you touch it and think it's dry it is not, to be 100% dry you need to wait many many hours, @@ramonaavram7527

    Tati you should try Color Street for your nails. The glitters last for up to two weeks. The solids are great but more like a week with no chips. You can still do the top coat as well you referred to. I sold them a few years ago, but gave up and now just use them for myself. Great product.

    The older I get, the more grateful I am that I never got used to using foundation. I have a really odd, fussy skin colour - because I'm mixed ethnically, I'm pinkish pale in winter and golden brown in summer. So I got sick of feeling like I needed to have 15 foundation colours to match accurately and just gave up. I've gotten used to my natural skin because of it, and I never have to deal with the staining and fussy application of different skin coverage products. Some may say "not everyone has that option" - I had severe acne for stages in my 20s and I just let it be what it was - I always felt like people would see it anyway (the texture), just painted, so I may as well get used to it.

      Yes! I’m right here with you. I’m pink in the winter and golden in the summer. No foundation is the right color for me, so I just go without. Also, I’ve always felt like covering acne with makeup just ends up looking worse. So glad to find a kindred spirit!
