STORYTIME (?): I wanted to be a musician for my whole life, so I studied piano and music theory for 10 years (11 to 21 yo) I deeply love music but as years went by I felt I was limiting myself and the pressure put onto me to play pieces technically perfect, not allowing me to be creative, was causing me real anxiety. I also realized my best talent is actually drawing and painting so after a big identity crisis (it took me two years to make the decision!) I decided to be an illustrator instead (I already work freelance and I teach art online)... but now during the pandemic I spent many more hours on videogames than before and I kinda fell in love with... so I've decided that I want to develope my own videogames! I dropped music conservatory and started learning programming, 3D modling and sound production while still working as a freelance illustrator (and I also make graphic design sometimes, which is not my favourite thing but I don't hate it and there's a lot of jobs available). Programming is quite hard but I think it has a fun part, we infps love to discover patterns and we are really good at it, it's like a big puzzle and I know some of us love puzzles! I found that programming is not much more difficult than learning a lenguage or learning to write/read music, which I did both. It's hard and it can be frustrating, but you can still enjoy it! specially if you're gonna use it for something as creative as developing games full of art and characters from your imagination. That's exactly my goal :D I want to create games that are emotionally engaging, aesthetically pleasing, with great music and that allow you to be creative as a player... I still have a long way to go on my learning journey. It is quite risky tho, that´s why I have the backup job of teaching art and making graphic designing/illustrations. Anyway, sending lots of love to those who are still trying to find their way, it was so freaking hard for me! I'm currently 22 and I still have doubts from time to time. But I do think game development is a grat job for infps because you change from drawing concept art, to creating a story, to writing music, to animating, to programming, etc etc... plus you can do it on your own and spent many many hours creating, and you also know that what you create can bring joy and interesting experience to other people without you having the need to actually socialize with them! lmao. I'm so excited about it!
I’m an infp 14 year old teenager, and I’m also still trying to figure out what I want. Sometimes (really often) I go through a crisis of doubts and feelings because of anxiety. I recently found out that I love dancing and singing as well, but what I’m really good at are languages, but I wanna be a singer soooo bad, but I also find interesting writing, maybe designing and ahhh. It’s just so frustrating. I have lots of ambitions, but I don’t do anything to make them real. I wanna do something for my career, even though I have many years left, But I don’t wanna “waste time”. I feel lost, I have 0 confidence, I’m terrified about what could go wrong, and I know I’m not the only one who feels this way :( but sometimes I look at other teenagers, and I notice how much they’re enjoying this time of their life, and there’s me, just worrying about the past, or the future. I think I might need some professional help…
@@sofiagonzalez4064 Hey! The fact that you are able to recognize your thinking patterns that cause you anxiety is a good first step, some people don't even realize or know themselves that well. If you think you may need help there's no shame in asking, it could be good for you! I went to therapy a couple of times and it can really help you manage anxiety and know yourself better :) I really get that feeling of not living fully in the present, it happens to me a lot and it used to happen to me at your age too. I think as I grew older I learned to deal with it a bit better but there are still doubts sometimes and I'm also very nostalgic (probably an infp thig? haha). But it is important to learn that everyone has their own times and interests and it is best to not compare yourself to other people, it's not necessary that your life is simmilar to other people's lives. Yo can be different and that is perfectly fine! But I do get the struggle 😅But really, don't stop yourself from seeking help if you need it. I do regreat not asking for help in the past when I did need it, I asure you it's not worth it. Teenage years can be really challenging and everything seems kinda intimidating, but as you grow and learn to know and accept yourself it can become much better, at least it did for me. Anyway, I'll be praying for you and I hope you find your way and learn to enjoy the process one step at the time :D Also remember that if you end up doing one of those thing as a profession it doesn't mean that you can't still do the others as a hobby or side project 😉😉😉
@@sofiagonzalez4064 Its so nice you're thinking about this so early! It's hard as fuck to be fair, but I thoroughly agree with the video. I do realise that making my passions (psychology/counselling + anything artistic) my jobs would be very difficult and putting so much pressure on myself is only stifling my creativity. Therefore when I think of a "job" I think mostly of either teaching or social work, because of the tight community, the helper aspect, the schedule, because it lies in my field of interest, the rather good pay, the independence you get on the job, and the high amounts of free time you can get. This way I can be productive, sustain myself and have a community/coworkers while still pursuing my passions on the side, and not having to worry about the marketisation of them (i am actually very little interested in acquiring money for what i create) or the lack of freedom that a regular job creates!! Yeah, navigating careers as an INFP is really hard, and I think we have to be ready to bite the dust (I already did, I'm 19 and I flopped after leaving high school). It does NOT mean that we have nothing to offer to the world, it is just because we are very sensitive people who are resistant to a lot of work environments and because we are very little interested in the art of making money. Don't put pressure on yourself to be confident!! I was never confident growing up as a teen, and while I do love myself now, I am still a very submissive person. I know that because of my nature I am likely to be used, and for that reason I am very intimidated by people. This is something that will most likely never change. No matter how good of a facade I learn to create, I still need to have a self-protective layer. That means not being the center of attention, not being fully expressive, etc. And there is nothing wrong with that. Additionally, i am more likely to face what people deem as "failure" (financial, occupational, relational...). This can cause feelings of lack of confidence. INFPs are very counter-culture. Most advice that you see doesn't really apply to INFPs, because of our very radically different way of seing reality and things. Most grand authors, who were also INFPs, were sore losers who were poor as all hell. Most INFPs cannot afford to be confident in a world that is so loud, where our uniqueness is rarely celebrated and we are easily taken advantage of. Be kind to yourself, aspiring for success so early on is very possible for INFPs but rely on a lot of luck: maybe you have a unique incredible talent, maybe you have a supportive family that bridged the steps between you and success. Either way, being successful is honestly not that big of a deal. It's talked about way too much due to capitalism, but as long as you find ways to make yourself happy, to live a meaningful life and to sustain yourself, anything else shouldn't really matter. I think we as INFPs were never looking for success in the first place anyway lol, we just want to have an impact, and we relentlessly aspire to make the world look more like our ideals. Sadly that is impossible, and as an INFP, learning to ditch things that produce feelings of anxiety and guilt is essential... I would of course love to hear your ideas. x
OMG I'm in a similar situation and my thought process is pretty similar. Do give us an update! How's it going now? And if possible i would love to connect with and know abt the journey because it's feels really similar 😅 All the Best!👍
Thanks for your videos mate. As an INFP male you’ve made me feel less lonely and more understood in this crazy beautiful world. Somehow you feel like a friend already.
@Benjamin Spicy The way you talk about us is so kind and calm. It's not like you're calling us stupid. Just telling others about us the way we are, but you make every flaw seem like a positivity. Thank you for this! I've always wondered WHO I was, and these videos have described me PERFECTLY to the T.
I am 24 year old INFP from Bharat (India) The problem with myself is : I love the "idea" of doing things than actually doing them Example : I love reading Blogs about "How to write a Great contents" But Hate when "actually" writing them I am currently completing my last year of Psychology degree course At the same time looking for a Job in DIGITAL MARKETING !!!! 😅
By far the most practical and relatable career advice for INFPs, that I've seen. Most others just keep glorifying the creative, passionate & caring aspect and mull over how these can help get a fulfilling and better paying career for us; but no one considers the being at the right place at the right time, luck factor.
I am an art therapist, and I think it is perfect for an INFP! It very creative, you take care of people, but you dont need to be with them all the time. You can take care of just some groups per week, have your living and feel good! 😊✌
So a stable flexible job seems like something that may not fit everything you desire but maybe pays the bills but still offers jobs for your interests after work. Then continue to practice those things on your own until you’ve learned and produced enough that you can provide for your own efforts, a job you create. “Get a job that interests you that allows you to be your private self that allows you to be somewhat creative, financially viable, be able to move around, and then do something whatever you want on the side as your passion.”
I'm 32 and I haven't had a steady job once. I've had jobs. I've also served as a replacement. I've been promised a steady contract many many times. But my personality is always used against me in the end. Either because one, or more, bosses/managers/assistants end up feeling threathened by me because I barely talk but work my ass off like there's no tomorrow, every single day. So they think I want their job and start to subtly bully me, put me in departments where I don't like to work etc When the truth is that I work hard and fast and non-stop because it distracts my mind and tires my body. To the point when I get home I fall asleep pretty fast. I work that way because it gives depression and chaos no time to nestle in my head. Other times it's because they think I'm seducing my coworkers. Which I do nót understand to this day. I'm socially awkward, even for socially awkward people. I can not talk to women in a seductive way without mocking myself. And I do not think I am a handsome guy. To be told multiple times that I'm just seducing people and not working and disturbing the peace at work cut me so hard and so deep.. it was like they saw everything that I hate in other people but they saw it in me.. it was so insulting. There was even one time where they fired me because they thought I was leading a rebellion against management. Because I said I didn't like my boss, who was crazy about the gf I had at the time. Coincidentally, the last gf I've had. Now, apparently, I have a certain reputation. So no one wants to hire me anymore. So I was asked to re-educate myself. To go to nightschool and learn something new. But of everything available nothing interested me. The three things that did interest me were either insanely expensive or it got cancelled by the government for not being interesting enough to lure in enough candidates. So they forced me to do something against my will. When I started, immediately on my first day I was bullied by everyone involved in the class. When I dropped it after being bullied for 8 months, they said I would never amount to anything. Now I gotta deal with that, get better, find a job and still make something of my life. But no one wants me. They literally shun me. And then I have to carry the responsibility of still being unemployed, of still being poor and of still getting 0 respect from anyone. Life as an INFP male is unnecessary hard. It'd be easier if there was a company that hired specifically INFP's. Maybe then I could actually have a life. Maybe then I could think of getting a gf and finally realize my dream of being a father. But that day will likely never come. Because no one gives a damn about a sensitive, emotionally vulnerable, unemployed 32 yr old friendless man.. that's just a loser in the eyes of society, of any employer. Of the government. And you literally need those three on your side if you wanna make something of your life. Btw, Why was my original comment deleted? I didn't say anything bad, or insult anyone. Just sharing my story. Looking to be understood... Yet you too, a fellow INFP, would cast me asside just like that? :/ Thanks, man. That makes me feel só much better. Thanks a lot.
oh man that sounds really hard! I know what it is to be bullied and accused of things you never did, that's the worse ever, so unfair! :'( I really hope things work out for you soon. This is a cruel world we live in but please don't give up!
You remind me of me and my good friend who is like my brother. We walk around work working hard and seeming intense and mischievous in a way and always pulled to the side to see what’s going on. But really we are thinking about how we wAnt to avoid people and problems lol in the end I guess avoiding things will turn out to bite us in the butt. He is a food runner and I am a medical assistant.
After roaming around the world and within myself, until my mid-twenties, I became a happy language teacher. I really wanted to be a photographer or a writer. Still do, but my mind's so busy at work I don't have the energy. But I have a good stable income and love my job. It's creative: create material and lessons. It is intriguing: meet new people It is meaningful: help people There is freedom to follow your own path in in your own classroom. Sure, I'm an introvert, but teaching is acting, and acting is creative😀 A happy 50 year-old infp.
Aww thanks ❤,I now struggling in semester 2 of social studies education (become a teacher) and every day i stressed out will it be worth it will i enjoy it later i have a leaning in the arts like stand up comedy, youtube, design. but I'm very inconsistent with it all because there are too many unfinished projects. So majoring in social studies (teacher) is like a guarantee if things don't go well and my father and mother are also teachers. after seeing your comments I feel I have to keep fighting in this major despite the stress of running it
Same!! Was a nomad and Traveller for The most part of my younger years and as a polyglot teaching languages always was a stable job that could be done from everywhere & is flexible and doesn’t interfere with my INFP quirks like getting up whenever I want, not working some days, not wanting to work “outside” - it’s all possible when you teach as a freelance remotely, when it feels too lonely you can always add classes in person, it just works for the INFP lifestyle and leaves so much free time for all the other “projects” haha…done it for 15+ years now on/off while trying many other jobs/things.
This gives me hope, thank you ❤️ Currently having an identity crisis. I graduated with an education degree major in English language. At the moment, I am studying to get my teaching license, but as an INFP, these days I lack motivation due to my doubts if the decision to pursue teaching will really be worth it, if will it truly make me happy. I just don’t really want to get into a job that’s constantly competing. Hopefully, I would feel the same way as you did once I get into this profession.
i've been thinking about this a lot lately. i'm in a VERY chill job with low-ish pay. i've been there long enough where i can do it with my eyes closed which is good and pretty much anxiety-free. it's my best job to date even though it's not in my field of passion, but because i have the freedom to do other things i'm interested in whilst on the job, and can leave for the day and pursue my actual passions. i never have to take the stress of work home with me for the day. i guess i'm feeling complacent though. sometimes i think if i went for another job and earned an extra $10k a year, i'd have more money for my passions down the track. it's between a chill and could-be-way-better pay or potentially a more stress inducing but higher paying job. at this point, i'm happy here. my mental health does not get affected. but at the same time, i feel like it's my time to move on and get more cash. i dunno tho. my mental state and freedom is more important i guess.. but i also feel like i'm wasting my week earning this low income. it pays the bills though, i guess. it would just suck to leave this 0% anxiety inducing job that is great for my mental health for a new job that stresses me out. is it worth it? i dunno. this has been playing in my mind for a bit now. anyway, i digress. this was a good video, as are all of your videos! from an INFP-A :P
Great advice. I was in a "caring" job, but I found it to be draining and too much social interaction. So now I work as a hospital janitor, not glamorous but lets me survive while I work on my art. Colleges and Universities are tricking people into believing that they can make a living in the arts. $$$
Yes, I've also found out there's not much we can do about it without luck, that's why I'd never rushed on anything... If luck lets you, then so be it lol
I have consumed a lot of content on the INFP creature and you by far get us better any other content creator I've come across...please keep doing your thing!!!
@@loisrabies8713 I have the exact same problem. I've worked retail, in the food industry and any sort of thing that pays less than $10 an hour. The schools I went to made sure I'd fail because they have no idea how to teach students with one, much less, many learning disabilities. So, I never got to finish school and I've tried getting my GED 6 times and always fail because, again, there's no one to help me. No one understands how miserable I am when I'm working even a part time job. My employers always tell me I do my job, but I look like a zombie when I'm doing it and some have let me go because I zone out so frequently. But believe me, I dont mean too. When I try explaining this to my parents they just roll their eyes and call me lazy. But I'm not lazy. When I'm doing something that I truly care about, I'm not a zombie and I dont zone out except to take a mental pause to refresh my head. I'm an artist too, and the only person around me that believes that's a feal job is my husband. I am very limited because I am technically uneducated, and going into the ultra saturated market that is the art world, it's not easy to just make a living wage.
@@loisrabies8713 yeah people always ask what I'm going to do with my life I say I'm gona be a famous artist they say, "no, realistically." then I want to die.
Oh, thank you, about *THE CARING* PART, and I do care, (well, the joke is care about humanity,, yet not so much the individual, human) and have done to the point I lost myself
As an Infp, im more motivated when it seems like I have an obligation to do something rather than just wanting to do smthg. The ‘want’ (Fi) simply works for me to choose exactly what I want to do/be/make and then the ‘obligation’(Te) makes me work for it and finish it. The message in this video recognizes these functions of the infp and acknowledges what an infp would want, and motivates an infp to act and do. Basically, I feel obligated (aka motivated) to follow the career that I want after watching this video😊 Thank you!!
This is it! I'm working 20 hours a week doing bike delivery and a bit of marketing for the company, live in the cheapest appartment I could get my hands on, and I'm busy making electronic music...spending a lot of money on equipment, not knowing if I'll ever make a penny from it. Only thing that's bothering me is the question wheter or not I should learn an extra skill next to music to make some extra money. headache!
From 7th grade, I've made my mind to be an astrophysicist/astronomer. Currently in my 1st year of college with physics major and astrophysics minor. -INFP
I'm 28 and I still don't have any stable job. From a young age I wanted to be a singer, I was really interested into music. But my parents especially mom was against it, it's not gonna feed you blah3. I also was very not confident in myself. So I studied economics in university just randomly. Had no interest in it. Tried to work as an economist but the co workers really gave a me a hard time, kinda bullied me. I always think that office work doesn't suit me so I found a job that moves a lot. Goes here and there. But the boss there said I had not enough experience, so educate yourself more and fired me. I tried to study programming but it was truly hard that my brain couldn't even process properly. I had a part time job but got fired due to technological improvement. I had an office job but it drained all my energy so I quit. Lastly I started an online shop with my friend, it was going well but because of corona business is not going well. So I'm here just sitting at home thinking all day and night what to do next. I'm practically a jobless, penniless person now.
This is so true! I have been thinking for a couple of months about the pivot to make in my career, and each option I "tried out" didn't fit. As time passed, I realised that my "dream job" is to reflect my inner world outwards through creativity, which apparently doesn't align with any existing conventional job roles. Thus, I found the way of life you suggested in this video the only suitable option.
Thank you so much for your INFP videos. I've been watching a lot of videos on the topic but yours are really clear and to the point. I appreciate all of the hard work you do to put these videos together. Keep up the amazing work!
NeSi helps you to deal pretty well with information, it's even better if they are your mid functions. So basically, you can work with anything that deals with abstractions or data. Ex: writing, programing, project (plan), music industry, art, movie industry, counsil, game industry and so on.. The advice he gives is to try to have a functional career. Be prepared, and work hard to understand how the world woks and how to earn money.
I have picked programming and it almost perfect job for me. I'm working from home. I have lot of spare time even when working, so I can do whatever I want, if I'm completing my duties. It is good pay. I can artistically express myself in some way (UX desing, or programming could be in done in lot of ways). IT is fast evolving space, but mostly it is the same. It is offering some sort of common things you will do most of the time, but it is exciting and offering lot of flexibility on the other hand. Big part of developing software is come up with some good idea for the user. You need to see your software as your user and try to implement best things for them. So as INFP I totally recommend
I found your channel when I was looking for INFP videos to understand myself better (I guess that's INFP trait). Just wanna say that I really love your videos and how all your explanation of INFP hits me right to the core. This particular video just helps me to validate what I've been doing coz actually I often feel that my job is not fulfilling, and I have very little time to do what I'm passionate about (artsy/musical stuffs). This makes me blame myself for not brave enough to do a job in the field that I love. Thanks for telling us that it is realistically ok to live that way, and for being supportive that we should still continue doing what we are passionate about as a side job/activity.
Healthcare can be ridiculous at times BUT… it might work for us INFPs. I’ve worked in a clinical/hospital lab for a long time in testing and there’s also phlebotomy, processing, histology…THIS video made me feel like it is actually the place for me. I do need to pursue some creative activities more seriously as my “2nd job”. There are others areas too. Registration, billing/coding, pharmacy/tech could be options. Part time with benefits options. Evenings, nights, weekends are a little less people intense (coworkers/managers). Show up, do good work, totally enjoy life on the other side of it.
I really like how this person speaks, like, 'he's a bit confused, BUT HE'S GOT THE SPIRIT' the more I hear him the more I can feel confusion in his voice/ narration. It's so interesting like 'is that his real speaking tone?’ 'Maybe.' 'Maybe not.' XD
definitely the best video ive seen about this. You are realistic and not in a discouraging/offensive way. I also like how you kept the visuals simple and relaxing. You should make more like this, IMO.
Altho I realize, its not exactly what gets a ton of views, so maybe not something you have time to do. But just want to say I really appreciate this video because it was almost therapeutic.
Thank you for this video. It makes complete sense. I’ll start writing down the stories in my head, not being afraid of judgement or w/e. In the meantime I’ll find a better job that doesn’t make me want to quit on the spot and walk out (like my current job), a job that interests me more. Time to put my accounting degree to use😅
Once I told my friend that I want to earn money in bed. She thought I am talking dirty now I am teaching my kids in online classes with off cam and I lay down in bed.
Thank u 💗 you make me feel normal rather then miserable. , World makes me feel miserable every day and I hate I will tear it down they killed that past infp which was naive that it fell for that cruel world ,
This is funny because i do just that. Regular 9 to 5 jobs don't make me feel useful, I'm not very effective nor fulfilled. But to survive we need money right? I'm currently looking for an ok-job in part time to let me practising/getting better at music in my free time. I'm really into music. If I can pay a rent and have enough time for passion, reflection, chill, I wouldn't be happier. Maybe I dream too much... but I really don't have choice about the way I view things.
oh god.. so we're all fcked up? I have to ask, are INFP's the only one who struggle that much? Bcs i don't feel that anyone understands me. Honestly I've read A LOT of youtube comments already, but this section here.. with these small amount of comments makes me feel really good. I'm obviously not alone. So, does someone know how an INFP meet new friends? xD
As for me, I am always learning something new. Usually online, but when I tried courses in the real world, everything came together! There you are among people who passionately love the same thing as you! Usually these courses last six months, during this time you manage to make friends)
I’m working in retail and I want to die. It’s been 2 and a half years at the place. I hate it I hate it I hate it and they’re raising starting wages and not my own and I stopped caring about my effort level loooooooong ago!! So basically uggghhhh I’m thinking about doing accounting 😭 I do enjoy the order that comes from it. No people, just numbers. I did an online class for it and completely bombed it bc I didn’t turn in any assignments bc I never did any assignments bc I never focused in class bc I was kinda going through a lot like a move and a devastating breakup and aaaa I wasted me monies! But maybe I should just try it again and actually try??? Because maybe I deserve better??? Maybe I deserve better than just throwing it all away like I did??? And if I do it right, I can use it to support a business of my own one day (I wanna sell greeting cards!!!!! Bc then I can both do art AND write poetry!!!!!). I can do some freelance writing on the side. I’m just scared to try again because I’ve already proved myself unreliable to my friends and family and self and I’m afraid of failing again. Anyways that’s my sob story in the career department
If the job you have pays enough & affords you enough time to hone your craft that's a blessing in itself. Start where you are. create what you want. market on line. In other words "don't quit your day job" just yet. & Don't be surprised (or discouraged) if your dreams don't pan out. That's life.
@@toon2u1 that’s good advice too!! I’ve been thinkin about doing that! Just holding on a bit longer and doing things I actually like on the side and makin some money off of that! I’ll have to just give it a shot!!
This really spoke to me. I'm an INFP working full time as a catastrophic injury paralegal but who is also trying to get in to fiction writing in my own little spare time. I'm planning on using my dreams as the basis for writing as these are incredibly exciting & vivid and I remember them in so much detail. Thank you so much.
Ok this is exactly what i also thought as infp. I am already doing itm Thanks for making this video. Part-time job is most likely best, otherwise you cant put the energy in
As an INFP, I am not interested in status labels such as CEO, manager, senior, professor etc. What I am actually interested in It is a job where I can use my creativity that allows me to live financially comfortably. In the hours left from work, I want to spend my life with my creative writing, philosophy, literature, traveling to cultural places, and nature. What really satisfies me is not having a label, but living life as an art.
Thanks man. Really glad i watched this one. INFP, full time Actuary, and full time board game designer. Hearing this makes me feel at peace with myself and my career decisions.
More easy to say than doing it. Find a pleasant "normal job" is extremely difficult. And to find one which provides more money than a little roof, and one meal a day... good luck. I get 200% bored very very fast, even if I am full of will. I like cooperation, but I don't like that a chief "bulls" me and shout or put a full pressures. I can't follow rules which does not fit my feelings and logic. Each job I did required me a lot of energy (anable to work after , for months, even years). And I get so few money. Your video sounds like a fairy tales. 😊 I just would enjoy to be alone in the landscapes in the video.
I get your point about the caring for people part, but having a job where you care for people doesn't mean the only thing you do is washing and feeding people. Sure if you work with elderly people who are kind of at the end of their lives then sure it's mostly what you do, however that's not the only group of people that need care. Right now I (an INFP) work at a daycare for mentaly disabled kids where a lot of the things that an INFP seeks are there. These kids are all very different and come with their own challenges and because it's a daycare for children up to the age of 5 (in my country kids have to go to school once they turn 5 years old so they can't stay with us fulltime anymore only after school they would be able to still come in if it is needed) the kids come and go, so just when you feel like you have this child all figured out and you don't find new challenges with that kid anymore they will likely go to school. Depending on the orginisation you work for there is a lot of room to try out new things in the wat you work with the kids or even simple things like putting the table in the middle of the room instead of on the right side. Because the kids all have a disability it asks a lot of creativity to handle them and trial and error is quite common as well. That said I don't work on weekends since we are closed then and depending on the amount of days you agreed to work there is room for you to work on writing a book for example. The only downside for an INFP would be that kids can be exhausting and I personally don't really enjoy talking to the parents all the time (especially when something didn't go right or when they have complaints). However you aren't the only person who works there so you will never carry the burden alone cause you have coworkers that have the same amount of responsibility as you have.
INFP’s are highly intelligent and understanding how money works is essential for earnings. I’ve made more on investments than on any job, now retired I’m trying to find an occupation to keep me busy and up to date.
yes this is what ive been planning to do. But I wish I were brave enough to focus on art but you need contacts and such and I'm not very keen on becoming an influencer just to sell art :/
Ok. That might be shocking but i work at McDonalds, yep, i know. I planned to work there only for 3 months but 6 years passed already xD BUT i'll explain why i actually enjoy this work :) I constantly learn new stuff. First i completed orders, then i learned to be cashier, then to makes beverages, then how to work at McDrive, then kitchen: making burgers, frying fries, cooking meat. After that i became an Instructor, so yes i teach new ones inter alia. They offered me being instructor because i am nice, i never get mad, i'm patient and i don't judge others. Because we change offer after few months it means i always have to learn how to make new burgers, or desserts or coffes, sometimes ppl from management get new idea and we have to learn them so i like that there's sth new to learn. I also personally like when there is a lot of customers, becase then we have to work to do, and i am good at it, and fast so i'm and i feel helpful. BUT i admit i HATE like really HATE to be on lobby, which means i need to clean tables and etc, i hate it coz ppl don't fu**ing care and don't respect my job, it's frustrating but sometimes it's nice when i can help someone ;) I also admit that i have very friendly colleaugues we help and respect each others. Also our work schedule is very elastic, i literally write what days i want OFF, so i just write I need OFF 13, 21 and 30 of December, Thank you and i get them and it's cool. Also i work from 4PM but if i need i can ask for work from 2PM or 6PM so this is another advantage. And this work actually heleped me, nowadays i'm not that shy, i can start conversation with the new ones or with customers, i learned to say no. I still lack in some areas but it's better ;) So if you don't know what to do but need money why not just go to McD or Kfc or sth like that where you get elastic work schedule, so that if you want learn new things you can actually have time for them.
Wow.. This video was really insightful and your advices were on point. I was feeling anxious about my career choice for a long time, now I feel like I figured it out a bit. Thank you
This is exactly what i'm thinking about, I'm INFP and an MD, i hate it at first, but when i help people, there's a satisfactory feel when the patient are healed after i gave them some treatment, and then, when i got the money from that job, i can make my own music and write my own fantasy books, cause, you know i'm an INFP 😂😂
I struggled a lot choosing a career for me I was going for medical field at first but then suddenly a part of me told me to go for literature and now I'm happy with the choice I made. Also thank you for making these videos, this helps me to understand myself better.
It is risky and can be incredibly discouraging. I had to try a lot of things that made me miserable. Psych nursing is a helping profession that constantly changes based on all the different patients admitted. It’s not a job I have to go to 5 days a week, and I’m working on my dream on my own time. I always thought I wanted to be a psychologist, but I think this will be better for me. I also wouldn’t get to create the things I want to that will hopefully help more people.
About 'caring' job although i like to help people i am really afraid that in failure i would be in despair, also the problems of other people could affect my emotion and thoughts so for me those jobs are not that good idea. I mean it's nice to help people but we need to remember that there me might be sad or bad situations and we have to ask themselves 'can we do that, can we overcome it, are we strong enough?'
The first time I took this test and found out I was INFP was because I was working a bar job and this guy in a suit came in and chatted to me for a bit and said I was trying to make myself 'smaller to fit down the plughole' and that I should take Myers briggs test as not doing what I'm meant to be doing
it is actually about the values of infp, i was in the military for 2 years, as compared to other jobs i had in the corporate world i kinda enjoy military life. It can be boring but there are perks as well.
I tried I quit for almost 10 years yet still havent found what suits me....I hate most job I had....people would said I work well for this or that but I just don't like it and I don't want it(coz I really get bored easily when I see no challenge/ changes coming in)...
As an INFP in science (organic chemistry), it's doable but tough. My approach to science is somewhat "messy" - patterns, ideas, etc. etc. This works with some people in science (INTPs are our scientific pals) but pisses off a lot of the other Ts. To make things worse, I (naively) thought science would be about working on new stuff, research, you know... And sure, that's part of it, but a huge part is "office politics", securing grants (I wanna puke), administration, constant paperwork, all the stuff that saps life out of us... And unlike other jobs, you can't really do it "halfway", "8-to-5" - it requires a lot of dedication and sacrifice. And unless you're a lucky genius, you're doing all this while working on a project that's only a tiny part in something that might maybe be useful. So you're underpaid as a typical INFP, you have very little security, you're under constant stress and you also spend too much of your time dealing with your career/job. Both my INFP friends from the lab eventually left science for teaching, and I sometimes contemplate doing the same. It's a hard path.
@@violax3735 Hey There, Can you please give some tips as to how do you manage in understanding the concept of science? In my case, I find Chemistry to be very confusing, like I don't get how and what is happening (Like I may get it, but I have imagine a lot? And it's kind of not in a logical way, mostly like it feels like that so this might be it? Or ok, I understood? Are you getting my point? ) So if you could help in some ways? Thank You in advance 🌻❤️
@@sayantanihaldar5362 there are steps to studying sciences ofc 1) pre requisites if required (from subjects you've studied previously ) 2) basics : they are building blocks on which advance concepts are to be broken down 3) what do i want to learn after 1,2 to understand this concept(maybe trig , calc are needed ) any science subject can be studied if you ask and work on these 3 questions as they are logical and not abstract i haven't studied chem since high school so sorry i can't give subject specific tips
6seconds into the videos, I set my legs down, about to sip coffee and have an INFP guilty pleasure.... Guy has me exclaiming *''ARE YOU SERIOUS!?''* 😂 Guess i ll go be the cloud I've always wanted to be in life
I’m an infp. I just decided I’m gonna be a pet groomer because I love animals and its creative to cut hair. I first thought of being a hairdresser but then I realised how many social interactions I would have hehe
I am a software engineer, who's going to have 6 months gap in the first half of 2022,As an INFP male,I am freaking out what will happen if I am not working at that time ,and moreover I don't know what I'm gonna do...but after that I'm planning for my master's degree
Yeah but... What might be a good "dayjob"? Did we just skip that entirely when that's the crux of the problem? That it's hard for INFP to find a dayjob they can do steadily?
It really depends on you. Maybe if you don't know what you like then ask yourself what you totally hate and never would do, like i wouldn't work as hostessa or in call center, but when i was looking for job there was offer at McDonalds i decided to try and i actually like it a little. So maybe try, if not this job then another one, it don't have to be you fav one but the one one you can do, you can tolerate and that give you enough free time for you passions and enough money to live. Read some comments here, people share their stories maybe sth will inspire you :)
I'm currently looking for that stable job, I've known for most of my life that I wanted to be a writer and my friends tell me to publish my work all the time. I need a stable job though and deciding which way to go has been really difficult.
Love you bro for making me feel seen. Is Psychiatry is a suitable job for an INFP? I've heard that it can be emotionally draining. But being a doctor, I can't figure out any other specialty which has this kind of exposure to the 'being' and I'm worried that I might feel dead inside if I go with a regular specialty concerned with bodies & not minds.
I'm a counselor. It's important to get enough alone time if you work with people who suffer, but I find the job very fulfilling. My clients are such great people and I feel like I keep learning from them so much about life. My supervisor said "we're like the last fairy in the story of sleeping beauty. We can't make the bad spell disappear, but we can make things a bit better.". I keep that in mind especially with clients that have experienced severe trauma, as it helps me to have realistic expectations about what's possible for me to offer them. As a fellow INFP in your place I'd also consider being a family doctor (is it called like that? I mean the kind of doctor that knows you for years and where you go first, whatever you have). It's less boring than specialising in one restricted field and you get to have a longer relationship with your patients.
@@helgaioannidis9365 Yeah they call it General Practitioner here in India. It's not a specialty here yet, but many doctors pursue this career of being family physicians after doing specialisation in General Medicine here (roughly similar to the specialty of Internal medicine abroad). That's actually my second choice of specialty after Psychiatry; you read my mind 😄 INFPs really do understand each other. I appreciate what you said, thanks a lot ma'am. I'm currently thinking of getting first hand experience of the field of Psychiatry by serving as apprentice to a Psychiatrist. At least that's the plan; I don't know if he'll have me or not 😅 Anyways I guess we'll see. You take care Helga 🙏🙏
I see you do many videos on both INTPs and INFPs. Out of curiosity, which one are you? I read in one comment that you're an INTP, but why do you focus on both of these? And, since you really focus on these two, why not the other 14 types? This isn't supposed to be confrontational, I'm just curious.
I think I'm an INTP but I sometimes type as INFP as well, so I know both types. I don't know much about other types so I don't make videos about them :)
I was wondering if there was such thing as INFP police officers / law enforcement who are happy with what they do. I don't think that I could ever do it, because I have my own trust issues with the system (AKA the higher ups), those that make the laws and the trickle down effect. Blindly enforcing policies that I don't agree with (or goes against my values) does not sit right with me as an INFP. But I do have tremendous respect for those who are there serving and protecting for the right reasons.
I would of course love to hear your ideas. x
Please join me
OMG I'm in a similar situation and my thought process is pretty similar.
Do give us an update! How's it going now?
And if possible i would love to connect with and know abt the journey because it's feels really similar 😅
All the Best!👍
Thanks for your videos mate. As an INFP male you’ve made me feel less lonely and more understood in this crazy beautiful world. Somehow you feel like a friend already.
I'm really glad you find them helpful, if you ever have any questions or anything just ask ☺️
A reaction of a truest infp
Love ❤️ to you Matt
Great job bro
@Benjamin Spicy The way you talk about us is so kind and calm. It's not like you're calling us stupid. Just telling others about us the way we are, but you make every flaw seem like a positivity. Thank you for this! I've always wondered WHO I was, and these videos have described me PERFECTLY to the T.
I am 24 year old INFP from Bharat (India)
The problem with myself is :
I love the "idea" of doing things than actually doing them
Example :
I love reading Blogs about "How to write a Great contents"
But Hate when "actually" writing them
I am currently completing my last year of Psychology degree course
At the same time looking for a Job in DIGITAL MARKETING !!!!
Can I connect with you about being an art therapist?! How to become one, do you have to be good at drawing? This sounds so exciting to me!
So they think I want their job and start to subtly bully me, put me in departments where I don't like to work etc
When the truth is that I work hard and fast and non-stop because it distracts my mind and tires my body.
Btw,
Why was my original comment deleted? I didn't say anything bad, or insult anyone. Just sharing my story. Looking to be understood... Yet you too, a fellow INFP, would cast me asside just like that? :/
Thanks, man.
That makes me feel só much better.
Thanks a lot.
I didn't delete anything, must have been youtube auto delete 😞
oh man that sounds really hard!
It is intriguing: meet new people
It is meaningful: help people
There is freedom to follow your own path in in your own classroom.
Sure, I'm an introvert, but teaching is acting, and acting is creative😀
A happy 50 year-old infp.
awww🌹
Aww thanks ❤,I now struggling in semester 2 of social studies education (become a teacher) and every day i stressed out will it be worth it will i enjoy it later i have a leaning in the arts like stand up comedy, youtube, design. but I'm very inconsistent with it all because there are too many unfinished projects. So majoring in social studies (teacher) is like a guarantee if things don't go well and my father and mother are also teachers. after seeing your comments I feel I have to keep fighting in this major despite the stress of running it
Same!! Was a nomad and Traveller for
The most part of my younger years and as a polyglot teaching languages always was a stable job that could be done from everywhere & is flexible and doesn’t interfere with my INFP quirks like getting up whenever I want, not working some days, not wanting to work “outside” - it’s all possible when you teach as a freelance remotely, when it feels too lonely you can always add classes in person, it just works for the INFP lifestyle and leaves so much free time for all the other “projects” haha…done it for 15+ years now on/off while trying many other jobs/things.
P.S. you're interesting!
and we love it
Thank a lot! I've switched to a sales job once because it would be more money and it was soul crushing. I did manage to get my old job back luckily 😄
Please tell me what you do! Im an infp A too!
I check the comment for knowing is it worth it or not cz it's kinda relatable. But I forgot we all are just infp's
Great advice. I was in a "caring" job, but I found it to be draining and too much social interaction. So now I work as a hospital janitor, not glamorous but lets me survive while I work on my art. Colleges and Universities are tricking people into believing that they can make a living in the arts. $$$
Nice advice. I like the element of luck that you mentioned. INFP usually believe in luck Anyways.
Yes, I've also found out there's not much we can do about it without luck, that's why I'd never rushed on anything... If luck lets you, then so be it lol
I have consumed a lot of content on the INFP creature and you by far get us better any other content creator I've come across...please keep doing your thing!!!
super authentic work, lovely tone of voice
I've been watching a lot of INFP content as well since learning about my type. I couldn't agree more, it's so hilariously, depressingly accurate, lol
Aww, I love your thoughtful idea to show pictures of sky marshmallows while you speak. It's such apple on us infps' eyes
Every job I had made me want to die.
which jobs have you had?
@@saturn52 I’m an artist and have been for like 20 years. But no one considers it a job anyways. Lol
@@BabsChannel ☹️❤️
@@loisrabies8713 yeah people always ask what I'm going to do with my life I say I'm gona be a famous artist they say, "no, realistically." then I want to die.

INFP here. Really needed this advice. Thank you 😃
Oh, thank you, about *THE CARING* PART, and I do care, (well, the joke is care about humanity,, yet not so much the individual, human) and have done to the point I lost myself
Basically, I feel obligated (aka motivated) to follow the career that I want after watching this video😊
Thank you!!
My problem is knowing what job I could bear in the meantime while I develop my skills enough to make it in my ideal career
I have a hard time looking for a job cause I genuinely feel like I won't fit in or won't be good at it. I'm a sad INFP
Currently in my 1st year of college with physics major and astrophysics minor.

im jealous
Hey @NonaImagine how are you doing now if I may ask? I hope you found something jobwise that is fine for you now. :) Best wishes
Currently I am a fresh graduate that really clueless and hopeless about my career. Thanks to this video.
Seconded.
How did you start? I'm in Healthcare and it's draining
Just found your channel. It’s very cool what you are doing. Your insights and advice have helped me tremendously.
Very glad to hear it!
We cant function in healthcare. Well I can't atleast. So stressful!
Honestly… hurts too much
Healthcare can be ridiculous at times BUT… it might work for us INFPs.
This video helped me more than any advice I've ever been given related to what the hell should I do with my life
Thanks a lot❤❤❤❤❤😊
definitely the best video ive seen about this.
So, does someone know how an INFP meet new friends? xD
Keep on searching in yourself and others will follow.
As an INFP, taking the lead is something that I've learned with time. That is actually the best way to make new friends.
As for me, I am always learning something new. Usually online, but when I tried courses in the real world, everything came together! There you are among people who passionately love the same thing as you! Usually these courses last six months, during this time you manage to make friends)
It's not just infps as most people find modern work unfulfilling
I'm cheering for you dear! You can do it!
@@kasiako355 thank you hon 😭😭😭
@@mostfrozenburrito you are welcome
If the job you have pays enough & affords you enough time to hone your craft that's a blessing in itself. Start where you are. create what you want. market on line. In other words "don't quit your day job" just yet. & Don't be surprised (or discouraged) if your dreams don't pan out. That's life.
@@toon2u1 that’s good advice too!! I’ve been thinkin about doing that! Just holding on a bit longer and doing things I actually like on the side and makin some money off of that! I’ll have to just give it a shot!!
So helpful!
(Also trying to start a band, if anyone is interested)
This really spoke to me. I'm an INFP working full time as a catastrophic injury paralegal but who is also trying to get in to fiction writing in my own little spare time. I'm planning on using my dreams as the basis for writing as these are incredibly exciting & vivid and I remember them in so much detail. Thank you so much.
Being an INFP lawyer is super hard. Just keep working on your passions to alleviate the effects of chaos the corporate world has on you (INFP).
How´s it goping?
I’m glad I found your channel
This is basically the strategy that I have settled on. It’s the most practical advice for our personality type.
Anyone else in Architecture? :) i have the Impression that its a good compromise. But still figuring out the travel thing.
I love this very practical and very applicable advice.
Thanks man. Really glad i watched this one. INFP, full time Actuary, and full time board game designer. Hearing this makes me feel at peace with myself and my career decisions.
This was the most beautiful video. You have such a way with words. Thank you really. You have no idea how much I needed to hear this today.
I just would enjoy to be alone in the landscapes in the video.
thank you so much... I've struggling with this for months now... this really helped
Actually this has very solid advice
A custodian job at an art museum is the perfect job for INFP I feel LOL
I have to agree. Having the whole place to yourself, getting to know all the paintings/exhibits on a more “personal” level. That sounds amazing
As a teacher INFP I was always envious of the custodians 😹 and I loved being a teacher except for the extraversion requirements!!
I am really interested in a career as a holistic practitioner.
OMG... I'm not alone!!!
INFP’s are highly intelligent and understanding how money works is essential for earnings. I’ve made more on investments than on any job, now retired I’m trying to find an occupation to keep me busy and up to date.
Lovely sky pictures
yes this is what ive been planning to do. But I wish I were brave enough to focus on art but you need contacts and such and I'm not very keen on becoming an influencer just to sell art :/
i'm an infp pursuing to be a civil engineer.. wish me luck and survival guys. thanks
How is it going. Is it bearable for an Infp like you
Thank you
you just described the ideal carreer, creative, versatile, pay the bills and let you explore different ideas..
Why not Design?
This is exactly what i'm thinking about, I'm INFP and an MD, i hate it at first, but when i help people, there's a satisfactory feel when the patient are healed after i gave them some treatment, and then, when i got the money from that job, i can make my own music and write my own fantasy books, cause, you know i'm an INFP 😂😂
I struggled a lot choosing a career for me I was going for medical field at first but then suddenly a part of me told me to go for literature and now I'm happy with the choice I made. Also thank you for making these videos, this helps me to understand myself better.
Why are u me wtf .....but I still need to medical cause I am asian lol
That's so sweet
That really resonates with me. Thank you!
Thank you. This is very helpful
it is actually about the values of infp, i was in the military for 2 years, as compared to other jobs i had in the corporate world i kinda enjoy military life. It can be boring but there are perks as well.
I always thought I wouldn't have minded it just for the structure 😂.
I tried I quit for almost 10 years yet still havent found what suits me....I hate most job I had....people would said I work well for this or that but I just don't like it and I don't want it(coz I really get bored easily when I see no challenge/ changes coming in)...
Thank you. This helped me a lot.
For me as INFP.
My dreaming job is gamer but my parents didn't support me.
That's why I'm really hate to job in office.
omg. i thought I'm the only one struggling like this
As an INFP I am interested in creative things but also I am interested in inventions and things related to physics . I want to be a scientist ..
Are you getting my point? )
So if you could help in some ways?
Thank You in advance 🌻❤️
@@sayantanihaldar5362 there are steps to studying sciences ofc
1) pre requisites if required (from subjects you've studied previously )
2) basics : they are building blocks on which advance concepts are to be broken down
3) what do i want to learn after 1,2 to understand this concept(maybe trig , calc are needed )
any science subject can be studied if you ask and work on these 3 questions as they are logical and not abstract
i haven't studied chem since high school so sorry i can't give subject specific tips

Health care and other care careers can be a good fit for Infp-A, but not for infp-t
I said I'd be happy just peeling potatoes and my sister was horrified
Read some comments here, people share their stories maybe sth will inspire you :)
i think being a Draftsman is good for an INFP like me rn

@@RohanBanerjee0 thank you. I wish you to find a place that fulfills you. ❤️
We’re screwed.
@@BenjaminSpicy Aaah. That makes sense. Thanks!
No work, just chill
:)
and theres me studying in police school...
And me in law one. Fortunately I am starting second degree soon, more creative one.
