We feed a little cat that was abandoned by our neighbour who moved away 2 years ago to Italy and just left the cat (we are trying really hard to get him to come in and we’ll take care of him, but he likes outside it seems - even in the rain, we can’t get him to come inside - he’s very timid) but he is SUCH a food ho! Turns out we’re not the only household in the street that feeds him - which I found out shortly after feeding him a whole bowl of cat food and some treats, then letting him out of the hallway window (he comes into the communal hallway but never our flat), where he immediately pawed at my neighbour’s window, which she opened and fed him some chunks of chicken out of - he ate them all, then started doing that full body convulse thing and threw up on her window sill! 🙈 I tried to warn her but she couldn’t hear me from my window.

@@paigeherrin29 definately not true. the safety reasons themselves would put a theological argument that person who eats raw meat is more likely to die therefore the human would develop preference to avoid it which would be genetic rather than cultural. If a newborn once is able to eat other than milk, to be given a raw and a cooked piece of food, rest assured they would eat the cooked piece.

Cats can taste/smell the ATP protein in meat, and it disintegrates when cooked. And it's the most important sign for them that the food is edible.
Fried though. A friends cat loves fried. It still destroys ATP but it does bring other smells so much forward it's tasty tasty best thing ever.

There is reason why people roast beef instead of boil their beef. Imagine boiled hamburger patties. Also what restaurant would refuse to make salt (or even msg) or condiments containing salt unavailable?

You used the same hand to serve both meats cross contaminating the raw and boiled. As soon as he realises this he starts selecting just the raw pieces

Exactly what I noticed. This video is a demo on which one the cat PREFERS, cooked or raw. Clearly, raw is the answer -- basically a 2:1 ratio. I imagine that ratio would be in greater contrast if the meat wasn't cross contaminated.

Actually, in the Polish (and possibly Russian) cultures we eat tatar which is ground beef seasoned, of course.😊. Therefore, it isn't disgusting. Of course, very fresh beef.😀

This was just an experiment that was done, and it was CUTE AND INFORMATIVE! It does highlight the fact that many pointed out - the smell and texture is likely more enticing to Pusic than the boiled meat (BTW, if meat is cooked, it should be baked, not boiled - boiling leaches out too much.) There are many reasons not to feed a complete raw "diet" THIS way, but parasites and bacteria should not be a concern if meats are properly handled and a properly formulated diet/recipe is used.
Don't bash raw just because it is raw. If you want to talk about bacteria (AND toxins), think of those lovely bags of dry food. Worst thing in the world for cats in general (diabetes, CKD, obesity, urinary tract problems, gastric issues, etc), but the fact that this stuff is too dry for cats AND sits around in warehouses, pet stores and your home or the cat's bowl for a long time, consider how many bacteria and toxins can grow in that bag/bowl! Check how many recalls of commercial raw food vs canned and bagged foods (hint - more dry and canned food is recalled than raw.) NO dry food has been fed here for 5+ years (and it took care of some minor medicals issues as a bonus!) Only canned and commercial raw is used, with a goal to get everyone (11) eating homemade food per vet recipe.
Raw meat, depending on what country you live in and/or your source, should not have parasites. Raw game (think hunting) more often than not WILL have parasites and should always be cooked. Bacteria is a different, more prevalent concern with raw meats, HOWEVER proper handling and the less "processing" of meat, aka cutting/grinding prior to purchase, the better. Grinding mixes any surface bacteria throughout the meat, so STORE ground meats, unless fully cooked, should never be fed to pets.
Raw meat, fed as shown, should not be considered a complete diet. Occasionally used as a "treat", like in this video, is okay. Many vitamins, minerals, etc plus calcium are not in cuts of meat. So whole cuts of meat should be properly ground AT HOME (some minimal baking may be needed for some pre-cut meats to kill surface bacteria before grinding) and mixed with bone, vitamins and minerals in a properly formulated recipe, IF you want to provide a raw/homemade diet.
I could say a lot more, but as Kathryn said - do your homework! If you are not comfortable with feeding raw food AND informed about raw food diets, then stick to canned food, but don't denigrate raw just because it is raw.

@@niko4141 It is unfortunate that some cats prefer dry and often resist all attempts to eat canned, raw or homemade food. Sometimes kittens are not offered canned food, so dry is all they know and they resist other foods. The dry food is "coated" with something that makes it VERY tasty, so many cats become "addicted" to that taste (AND texture.) Think flavored chips for people...NOT good for us, but aren't they tasty!
Way back in the day I provided both canned and dry to my cats and one chose not to eat the canned - however she DID one time take a plastic-wrapped thawing chicken breast off the counter, sneak it down to the basement and polished it off!
When I decided to ditch dry about 5 years ago, there was no way to wean them off the dry food (everyone ate both at that time), so I finally just removed it. Since they were already eating canned, it wasn't so hard/bad for them. That would be a bit drastic for your cat who turns her nose up to canned food, however taking it away for a bit to allow her to get hungry enough to at least try canned sometimes works. I would stick to canned foods at first. Assuming you have tried that, Dr. Pierson's website (catinfo.org) offers that and other suggestions, such as:
*Sprinkling FortiFlora over the food
*Sprinkling parmesan cheese over the food
*Crush up some dry food and sprinkle THAT over a small amount of canned food.
FortiFlora is a probiotic, but has some ingredient(s) in it that makes it tasty to some cats (very similar to the dry food coating, but like catnip, not all cats care for it.) You don't use the whole packet, just enough to coat the food and save the rest for later. It doesn't matter if it is outdated, as the goal is to use enough to make the food tasty, not to promote the probiotics!
My cats show no interest really in any kind of cheese, so it depends on the cat if the cheese would work.
Another thing you can try is to cut up bits of raw chicken that you might be cooking for dinner and offer it. Or try some bits after it is cooked. I have one who would probably eat the whole chicken if I cooked it and gave her all the meat (not an appropriate diet, but can help get them used to real meat!)
Also, Instinct sells a freeze dried product (Raw Boost Mixers) that can be crushed/sprinkled over the food too. It is NOT a "complete" diet, but I don't use it that way - it is only sprinkled on the raw or homemade foods, so you could try it on the canned food.
Also, when offering the canned food, do not have the dry food also available. She'll go for the dry every time! Perhaps take the dry food away before bed, so Miss Kitty will be hungry in the morning and you present just the canned food. Perhaps put out a small amount of two different kinds. If she walks away, try sprinkling it with one of the options above. Leave it for a while - giving in just because she doesn't eat it right away will reinforce learning to wait! They may complain, but they can get by missing food for a while (Read Dr. Pierson's "Transitioning Dry Food Addicts to Canned Food" for additional suggestions, hints and reasons why - she also suggests no "free feeding". Note: she had a tough time with her own cats!) If she does take the bait, keep presenting the canned food, with or without a "topper" - for a while I used some of the remaining dry food as a "treat" of sorts - occasionally tossing a few out - not enough for a meal, just a little "crunch"! Perhaps her reward for eating the canned food is a couple of nuggets of dry food as a "treat" or use regular treats, so as to not reinforce the "taste" of the dry food.
It can take a long time (months sometimes), and it may never work, but it is worth trying. Unless you have another cat who will eat the canned food (or a dog!), it might mean spending money on canned food only to throw it away - so go for the smaller cans, and don't buy cases of food until/unless you get her to eat some several times! MY cats will often gobble up a "new" food, but on second attempt I get the look which says "THAT stuff? I had that yesterday!" and they won't eat even a second can. Buy different flavors and textures, even if it is the "cheaper" foods (non-premium brands, many of which I won't buy anyway because they add too many fruits and veggies!) Although it is also recommended not to create a fish/tuna fish addict, some cats DO like fish - at least if they can start on some 'fishy' canned foods and then transition to other meats, it might work. Salmon isn't too bad vs other fish. Two brands that works for a couple of my cats is Fancy Feast (chicken, liver and chicken, salmon) and Friskies (chicken, tuna, turkey, salmon, shreds or extra gravy.) Worry about using better foods later.
I hope you can help your kitty "see the light", but if not, at least you tried.

I always give raw chicken to my cat (not sterilized), usually 3 times in a week, and my cat is totally normal °-°. BUT the doctor said:"dont give raw meat (chicken/beef/pig) to a sterilized cat cause can create some problem to their stomach", i dont know, so i just give raw meat just to my not sterilized cat and its pretty normal and he LOVE the raw chicken
