    Different trade - I work on yachts - but nice setup for the truck. I'm thinking this may be the year I switch from vans to a 1/2 ton truck with a commercial shell and bed slide like you have. Will be a big change from having all that open space (10' enclosed in the back of my NV2500) but the 13 mpg is killing me when a Ram or chevy 3.0 diesel could be doing twice that.

    Nice vid, how often do you use your Tru-Blu hose to pull vacs?

    • @tcphvacr9950
      @tcphvacr9950  4 года назад

      Andrew K all the time. They’re really expensive, but the flexibility of the right angle attachments make them an invaluable asset. The Appion hoses are good, but they are limited with their straight only fittings. If they would make a right angle hose, they could give Tru Blu a run for their money.

    So I know the packrat is right at 48” deep. How difficult was it mounting the 8’ bedslide on top of the packrat? Do you feel the loss of space behind the o kart and below the bedslide is worth hanging the packrat?

    • @tcphvacr9950
      @tcphvacr9950  Год назад +1

      I didn’t set it up, the company that sells the tops set it up. You can put stuff behind the pack rat when you slide out the bed, like hoses for instance, but it can be a pain getting them, because you have to slide it out and climb over your stuff to get to it. I put items like that that I don’t use often, just to make use of the dead space. Sometimes I’d rather have side shelves and an open bed in the middle.

    What school you went? You did 2 years (associate degree) or 1 year (certificate), which one of those you recommend at someone who’s looking to get into the trade? Thanks 🙏

      Jeff1314 I went to a trade school at nights for two years, and already had a job at an industrial plant as the filter/belt PM guy. Also did boiler and chiller maintenance. I then got into a public school system as an HVAC tech, and learned a lot on the job, which led to my getting the job with the company whose truck is in the video. Main thing is, they don’t always start out high paying, but if you take the time to understand the basics of your field, and then build onto that with the more difficult/technical aspects, the money will be there, somebody will want to pay you if you prove you’re skills.

      I bought the Ridgid due to price a few years ago, but the Milwaukee pack out boxes look pretty sweet. The ones coming out early next year with the drawers make it even more tempting.

    Do you like working out of a truck?

    • @tcphvacr9950
      @tcphvacr9950  Год назад

      I like the quiet of a truck, but I like the organization of the van. I think I would prefer it better without the bed slide, and have shelves with a combo of drawers.

    • @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693
      @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693 Год назад

      Yeah, I feel the same way about trucks and vans. I’m surprised to hear that about the bedslide. I’ve always thought, if I had one things would be easier. But you are correct, storage and organization with shelves and bins, save a lot of space and makes things faster and nicer. Vs just boxes full of items.
