These are my tips on how to declutter / simplify your home and how to organize your house. I'm not a full on minimalist, but I definitely am taking a more minimalist approach with what I keep in my house. I want everything I own to serve a purpose and to actually enjoy what I have. Thought I would share with you guys my top hacks on how to actually declutter your space, organize your home and use minimalism more in your life.
These organization tips are how I clean my home /how I declutter what I own and what I use for my home organization!
10 WAYS TO DECLUTTER YOUR HOME AND ORGANIZE YOUR LIFE: MINIMALISM
HOW TO DECLUTTER AND ORGANIZE YOUR HOME
1. Use pinterest to help you visualize your space: what look do you like? what organization systems do you like?
2. Come up with a color scheme. I can enjoy + think things are cute, but they don’t match my home. You can appreciate something without buying it. Sticking to one or two main colors will give your home a stylized appearance and make everything seem cohesive and organized.
3. giveaway/ sell / toss: I set up three different bags whenever I’m organizing a space.
4. Do it in stages. I’ll go through the space once, decide what I’m removing and by the time I’m done, I’m way more into getting rid of and do it again
5. What’s the use: Ask yourself what is the use of the item in question. How will you wear it? How will you use it? When will you use it? If you have no answer for any of these questions, it’s good to consider getting rid of.
6. Make the process fun: I like to set up my phone with an audiobook playing while I’m cleaning so I’m multi tasking / enjoying the process.
7. Use planners: Planners help keep you organized + help you to feel less stressed out. I have multiple planners for weekly / daily purposes.
8. Ask if you need it: When I’m organizing, I always ask myself ‘do I need it?’ Ask yourself ‘when was the last time I ACTUALLY used this?’ If you haven’t used it in over a year, you probably don’t need it in your house.
9. Organizing stops shopping: Once you feel like your home is decluttered, it will make you think twice about adding pieces back in when you’re out shopping.
10. Would you buy it again: Ask yourself if you would buy the item again. You want to be using what’s in your home but also enjoying what you already have.

I have been obsessing about organization in my life for the past 2 years. I was constantly getting rid of the things I had been hoarding from childhood. When I first came across your channel I realized I love your style and have since aimed to add fashion into my life. You mentioned minimalism in this video. Since the day this video was uploaded my life has drastically changed. I have been obsessing about minimalism and capsule wardrobe and I already am so much happier. Thank you for being the start of change in my life.
The "Would I buy it again?" tip really resonated with me. I moved at the beginning of the year after having a crazy living situation that required me to uproot my whole life and keep stuff in storage for over a year. Getting settled has proven challenging as I rediscover my treasures and have to decide what to keep and what to toss for good. I'm at work now but I already thought of a few things that are going to be sold asap, like my stainless steel candle holders and random wall art. Thanks!

That tip!! "Would you buy it again" has just blown my mind I have never looked at it that way before!
So relevant right now - I've started to declutter this morning and let me tell you it made me feel so overwhelmed...but I know things will get better if I keep at it and just keep the things I need and actually love using. There's no point owning something if you don't really need it or enjoy it.

cuz now you have only a limited amount of youtube music to choose from, unless you want to pay for your own music or make it...used to be that songs could be used, until the copyright rule and lawsuits came about.

Regular de-cluttering helps one learn what one loves (rather than tolerates). I think fall is a great time for a major de-clutter, plus it's when charities need your stuff the most. I'm happy to give the really good stuff to charity rather than selling it myself. Tag the designer clothes so the sorters put it into the high price section. And once you've given away stuff you've spent good money on, you're not so likely to make so many mistakes in the future. Back to that part about learning what you really love. It's an evolutionary thing. Always growing. Always learning.

good tips. don't have nearly as much clothes as you, but i don't really hang up my tanks, winter stuff, t-shirts, etc...just nice stuff, but I'm glad to say that I got rid of like half of my wardrobe, it's so liberating...

+Victoria Mather why do you say it gets better every year? I'm going through a declutter and am adopting that "having less stuff" mindset and I'm curious to learn about different people's experiences with it. :)
+Jenna K It gets better every year because I find better and deeper things about myself. Minimalism is different to everyone. I would say I'm a middle-class minimalist. I like decor and fashion so I don't think I would be happy in a black and white bachelor apartment, 50 items or a shack (Sometimes I dream about it though lol), but I want a nice life so I just have the bare minimum to have that nice life. So it started when I was 22 and I was just stressed and overwhelmed about my life, I read the book 'It's All Too Much' by Peter Walsh and it was like I could see clearly for the first time. I started by writing down what I wanted my dream life to look like and what my hobbies were and only kept what pertained to them. I have nice clothes (30 items), a clothing steamer, nice furniture, a scotch table, a bar cart...and so on that you wouldn't think a minimalist would have but I just got rid of an equal number of items to balance it out. I thought I would hit a wall where I would have nothing more to get rid of but I just keep finding things that were important to me a month ago, aren't anymore. I live with my boyfriend (Both work full time) and our cat in a 2 bedroom apartment and when you walk into our place, you would see all normal things except everything is put away, I have clear counter tops and everything is neat and organized because less stuff makes it so easy to tidy. Right now I read the blog "Becomingminimalist.com' and his book "The More Of Less' (Which I literally bought this week) and I'm already thinking of more I can let go of. The end point is that you make your minimalist life with what makes you happy and nothing else. If that's traveling or fashion or spending more time with the people you love, get rid of the things that don't give that time to you.
