The Evolution Of Kpop

- hi, i found myself fascinated by how Kpop had become so mainstream, so I decided to do some research and was quite amazed.
K-pop has evolved through distinct generations. The first generation (1990s-early 2000s) featured catchy pop and dance songs with coordinated fashion. The second generation (mid-2000s to early 2010s) introduced diverse genres and edgier fashion. The third generation (mid-2010s to early 2020s) saw global expansion, fusion of genres, and individualistic fashion choices. The fourth generation (late 2010s to present) brought further genre experimentation, social commentary, and a mix of fashion styles. K-pop has progressed from simple pop to a diverse global phenomenon with evolving fashion trends.

I feel like you could make a very good medium sized video about the more intricate details (like10-20 min) you really have the tone of voice for documentation videos
What’s so sad is being a fan through three gens and then falling out bc you’ve coke to realize how toxic the system itself is. If you know about loona’s story and almost any other current gen group with company drama, it’s just so off putting. It’s become a literal indentured servitude contract. People spending their whole lives to debut and being put to the side. Being forced to pay to work and live and never getting any revenue yourself. It’s horrid.
I love K-pop and I could hear u talk about it all day 😂
whoa that's a rather great comprehensive summary in a short video. Well done.
I have fallen into a rabbit hole watching your videos. they are so entertaining. Love the tattoo and travel content. Have you considered making a tattoo tour video?
First gen is still my favorite! It's what I grew up on (I'm not even Korean, but it was broadcast over the International Channel on Cable). Jinusean, DJ Doc, SES, HOT, Shinhwa, Sechskies, Fly to the Sky, Drunken Tiger, See U, FinKL, Baby VOX, Park Ji Yoon, Yoo Seung Jun (before he defected), etc. Also don't forget the influence of Yang Joon Il!
By the way, dating back to the first wave, K-pop had already been quite popular in the rest of East Asia (my HK friends especially loved it), and among the East Asian diaspora in the Americas (likely due to the aforementioned Music VIdeo Heaven show on International Channel). I remember a lot of my peers were inspired by the fashion and hairstyles.
Having lived in japan for 15+ years, I’m more into J-pop, visual kei, and synth wave, and underground Japanese music. K-pop is like watered down R&B to me.
Tho japanese are ugly 😅
Would love for you to make more videos on kpop.
Honestly, I can't wait for kpop to be over, their fans are everywhere, they are intense and most of them are incredibly annoying, spreading toxic beauty standards and all
Im amazed you read all that in one take Billie...thanks for the video...very informed
From someone who was into korean music way before kpop was kpop, I'd say this is a darn good video
I vote for a K-pop part 2 Billie. Good stuff
Billie has always good and informative contents.
The other day I was minding my own business walking down the street, when dead ass on the sidewalk there was random a SKZ logo spray painted. I’m in Chicago. It made my day. So unexpected lol
I like a handful of songs. My sister goes to concerts all over the US.
Oh this was really interesting.
You miss Super Junior on Gen 2 🥲 but thank you for the video
Yoooo wtf lol. Never ever dreamed I'd see a "press virginia" wvu outfit in a kpop video! 😳 😂
Also, BoA will always be my favorite K-pop artist. She was the first I ever heard in high school thanks to a transfer student I became friends with. This was like a decade or so before K-pop became mainstream in the states.
I really want to know what your hair style’s name is ㅠㅜ
Im obsessed with it😝
Stan red velvet ❤️
And here iam get into kpop because of Lisa.
I don’t listen to K-pop but I do listen to Billie ✌🏽❤
Block B is the best K-pop group sad it wasn't mentioned
tell me more because I personally don’t know about k-pop it’s kinda strange
silently crying cause u didn’t mention exo in 3rd gen 💔
I was wondering too👁👁
Doesn't she go by another name elsewhere? She seems familiar 🤔
get a tat at the least rated tattoo shop you can find
brooo why do you look like the child of groot and avatar

I am really disturbed by you
BTS and BP are the only importance figures in Kpop history.
