      Because it's primarily about testing physical signs of biological aging, not just "looking younger". If that was the case he could just get a ton of plastic surgery like most celebrities do
      There's a difference between longevity science and cosmetic anti-aging

    • @ItsBanesa
      @ItsBanesa Год назад +296

      @@Abby-ug4xc It’s also about cosmetic beauty, he said he wanted to not only feel but look 18 again. He literally compares himself to his 18 year old son. Even with all he’s doing he can’t achieve that because no matter what you’re still going to age forward. I’m not shaming him or anything but realistically it’s impossible to turn the clock back on yourself.

      @@ItsBanesa Like I said, it's not the primary objective. Removing sun damage is part of reversing cellular damage to the skin (damage is what ageing is). Of course he compares himself to his 18 y/o son. That's the closest you can get to a biologically identical control subject. But he also acknowledges he's not getting the youthful volume/baby fat back in his face naturally.
      He has turned the clock back, based on cellular markers of ageing. No he's not going to reverse 30 years of damage just through diet and exercise, but he's demonstrated that you CAN age (accumulate cellular damage) slower if you take care of your health. I do think age reversal will be possible in a couple decades though. They've done it to human cells in petri dishes already

      @@Stuttsis mmm well psychologically talking the stress from obsessing to look younger will affect your physical body by this i mean someone that most of the time is thinking about their "imperfections" or most of the time goes to do things to achieve an almost impossible body goal letting aside other parts of their lives, the people that make many surgical procedures (for aesthetics) don't then to count the fact that it won't stop the aging, the body is not that capable to take so many unnatural changes and with time they may do bad effects on the skin, and then there's the genetic part which is only the fact that we all age in some different ways depending on genetics.
      With this i'm not trying to say we should not take care of our body's, but taking beauty and youth to an extreme is the dangerous part of it, so the harder someone may try to have that "perfection" or "always young" body, more probably they are making things that will have side effects on their body and their mental health.

      He strikes me as a guy with an eating disorder and is in denial about how happy it makes him, as it tends to be with eating disorders. There's a eating disorder that is obsessed about being as healthy as possible, vegans often fall into this category. "Orthorexic". Having an eating disorder is basically just a coping mechanism that has turned into an obsession, the person feels like they are in control by restricting themselves of certain food etc. Letting a coping mechanism become your entire life is not true happiness it's a cry for help. Many people with unadressed mental health issues tend to fall victim to some sort of eating disorder. He should probably go and get some help instead. His smile is fake when he says he's happy, he looks tired, he looks pale, his eyes look lifeless... He does not look good at all he looks like a crack addict(doing drugs makes people lose weight). It's honestly scary to me that so many comments say he looks good when I think he looks like a goddamn drug addict! Don't encourage people to self destruct their own bodies by saying they look better for it that's so fucked up! That's like on the level of anorexia-fetishists where people literaly think a girl weighing 20 kg is the ultimate sexy because her bones are showing... This is not too far off from that IMO. People need to stop fetishizing the "zero body fat" shit cuz it's basically just the fitness version of anorexia. "OMG all your veins are showing so fucking hot", it grosses me out so much that people can say that and that's somehow normal. Your body is not suppose to be zero fat that is being unhealthy underweight = anorexia.

To me it was kind of sad, it seemed like he was doing it because he was terrified of death. He even bragged that he had tested the length of his telomeres and that they compared to someone who was decades younger.

    I wonder how he was when he was young. Was he that obsessed of his appearance? Remaining young forever? His body will age regardless of the amount of technology, cream products, or exercise he does to his body. That's life that no tool, beside the biology of the atom cells, has the power to reverse.

    But to be completely honest, the experiment is interesting and scary at the same time. There are already so many measurements to anti-age people but I‘ve not seen someone actually trying a fullbody routine. The goal is to be immortal and he could give give a template for others to do so. Not that I support the idea of that but it’s interesting if something so unreal would actually be possible.

    i think it's time to discuss why americans say being healthy means to go everyday at gym, or being extremely fit or even have an exhausting control of what you eat when you don't have a disease that justifies it. Use all your hours in the same activity, never could be healthy, it's an obsession, a trauma.

    • @theedibleone111
      @theedibleone111 Год назад +13

      It sounds like you don't understand the reasons why some people go to the gym. It's not an obsession, it's a routine, and a good one at that. Not only is it stress relieving, it is also a good way to stay physically fit, and a good way to interact with friends. Diets are a bit over the top sometimes, I agree. But if you are obese, you're at a higher risk for a wide variety of diseases, and literally physically disadvantaged. Two thirds of adult Americans are considered overweight, and half of that third (1/3) are actually obese. So you can see why many Americans go on these outrageous diets. Some people genuinely enjoy the gym. Working out is considered a hobby, so don't call people crazed or traumatized for visiting the gym.

      @@theedibleone111 it's sounds like you didn't understand my point. I didn't say "people visiting the gym", I described other situations, more related to this video. Getting bigger or fitter than others isn't equal to being healthier. If you wanna be healthy you need to do some activity. But if you get anxious and depressed cause you skipped 1 day of your routine, or you didn't reach a specific body weight, or you ate 10 calories more than your limit, that's a whole different world.

      @@j.e.l.m_ that is so true. If you have to stick to SUCH a tight routine so you can live without feeling guilty, a lot gets lost in mental and emotional freedom. We already get pressed into a crazy work/commute schedule that turns like 10 hrs of our daily lives into always the same structure, and I think following the same routine always in our free time makes me question if the time is actually free. It's worth thinking about. Maybe we can be passionate about health and fitness without resorting to guilt.

    It’s not just about looking younger it’s about having ‘younger’ organs with regards to their measurable age. That said he accepts he’s not going to have the heart of a 14 year old. I think, what he is doing is interesting. His protocol is approached scientifically through blood results etc. Taking 50 whatever supplements and having a diet that’s restrictive seems crazy but in the name of science I commend him.

    Congratulations on the new house!!! OK, having been in a similar situation ... uh, long long ago! I can say this: You can buy brand new stuff (for brand new stuff prices) all of which is going to become well USED stuff in a VERY short time. Or, you can go treasure hunting at your local thrift stores, and find so many things in surprisingly nice condition, and pay PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR for it! You'll still have a bunch of nice things - well used can be very nice! - and over time, guess what? They remain just what they are - nice well used things - for as long as you want to keep them up. You'll have saved ENORMOUS amounts of money skipping that ever so fleeting "NEW" stage, and have a nice comfortable home to enjoy instead! Sure some things might need a little cleaning up. And hey, if you like a clean tidy home, you're going to be doing that all the time anyway! And free bonus: it won't hurt half as bad when you spill your soda on your thrifty sofa as it would spilling it on a couch you paid $1000 for! (believe me, I KNOW!) Heck, I even found a red leather easy chair to match my red leather coach - and it was totally free! Someone in my office building was just trying to get rid of it! You could likely furnish your whole place for under $1000, furniture, wall art and accept lamps, etc. And if you hit up the second hand shops near ritzy parts of town, well... let the rich people waste their money on buying things new, then swoop it up for next to nothing (or free in some cases!) - and still look like a million bucks! You'll have more money to stash away, so you can actually get rich - and stay rich - one day!

      This is great advice! Thrift stores are awesome! I would like to caution people about buying couches and mattresses and other upholstered/fabric furniture because they can harbor bed bugs and you might not find out until they're in your house 😱 look up the signs of bedbugs and look over the furniture very well before buying

      @@stickinug Ah yes, the beg bug thing. Get some boric acid (a powder) or diatomaceous earth and give these pieces a good dusting with it. You can Vacuum it all up in a couple weeks. None of those critters, including fleas, etc., will survive it. Not a bad idea to treat one's house with it, swept into corners cracks and crevices. You may already HAVE bad bugs and not even know about it. (Boric Acid is about as safe as... table salt. I wouldn't recommend eating it, however.)
