James Goldring just watched dog soldiers and found myself on this video. What do you recon of a thriller if ctsfo dealing with a assault on prescient 13 type scenario? Thinking that would make a cool movie of a small team dispatched on a call to an abandoned part of *said city* only to be ambushed by a unknown force. Could either be criminal force like in the assault on prescient 13 and be a noir film. Ive even got the idea of Idris Elba playing the police captain as a cameo and the look of his office matching Bryants office from Blade Runner when Decard walks in at the start.

Great video. I would just like to point out that I think some of the footage is of Specialist Firearms Officers (SFO)s. This may have been before the CSTFO qualification existed.
Quite possibly ... SO19, and now CO19, has, from what I've told by serving Met officers, gone through a lot of rapid changes over the years, not least the --- practically speaking --- merger between the Diplomatic Protection, and Royal Protection Group, into one single unit that covers both, so what you say is more than quite likely ... Oh, and if you see a police motorcyclist, riding an all white bike ... get the hell out of the way. They belong to the Special Escort Group (SEG), whom provide extra, armed, security, particularly for Cat A. prisoner convoys, which also include Authorised/Specialist Firearms Officers, going by their distinctive BMW SUVs they use (can't remember the exact model). SEG officers are regarded as the pinicle of all motorcycle cops in the UK, not just for being the top drivers, but also being SFOs in their own right ... In one of life's ironies, during the trial of two notorious gang leaders, held in HMP Strangeways, twice a day, they were driven to the Liverpool Crown Court, and back, at high speed, with not only three - four SEG units --- I think, could be wrong --- four SFO units, minimum (two in front, two in rear), plus an additional two-three 'ordinary' GMP estate cars, making for a pretty large convoy, especially given the long-wheelbase prison van they were using. Operation Bombay, as so named, I think costed £100k - to £200k + (although the exact figure has never been fully disclosed), given that the officers involved were not only pulled from regular duty, but also given the presence of those specalist officers, plus, overtime pay, given how long they were made to 'hurry up, and wait', until they were ready for the return trip, often in the early evening, long after sunset, given the time of year, and the length of the case itself. The irony I speak of is that two, famous, and well known crminals, were given the kind of heavily armed, high speed escort, with traffic held up at every junction, irrespective of the traffic lights, which usually is reserved for visiting diplomats, such as ambassadors, and 'lesser members' of the Royal Family, due to them being High Value Targets either from the guys whom wanted to free them, or free them, then execute them ... plus, with the rear cars taking up both lanes, especially on dual carriage ways, with 'Stay Back/Do Not Overtake' led signs in the rear window, meant they took no chances ... I could go on, but if police escort videos, here on RUclips, is your type of thing, you would be impressed by some of the videos captured ... ... true, if what is known of the compartments, within police operated prison vans, is that they are not that much bigger than a two door wardrobe, both in width, and depth, with all metal interiors, including the seats --- so not exactly luxurious --- but I bet, for those two, the irony of having so many armed officers, protecting them, as they were driven around at high speeds, like they were some kind of royalty, wouldn't have been lost on them ...
Whilst some of this footage predates the period of which the term CTSFO was created, the SFO teams of SCO19 transitioned into CTSFO only by name, and did not require the upskilling that other county police SFO teams did in 2012. In theory, SCO19 SFOs are just the past term for the current SCO19 CTSFO teams.

So having these guys do what the SAS did in terms of hostage rescue would benefit the police and thus would train them to the counter terrorist level of the SAS?
They are trained by the SAS, however the SAS are much more trained, no jokes in the SAS, if the SAS is there, something's about to go down or you're already dead.

You mean all the recent terror attacks and serious incidents where the police, not even CTSFOs but officers of a less-higher rank dealt with and eliminated the threat? The only recent times we’ve seen UKSF deployed in domestic CT missions has been post-attack to assist police with making arrests, supporting them as they have better/more advanced capabilities. If you want police turning up to a robbery, try asking for normal officers, not the CT lads 🤡 let’s not forget that armed police have been trained by and worked with UKSF since the 80s and only 1 Sqn is kept on CT duties every 6 months, so it’s important to have units like these spread throughout the regions.
yeah because why would men who literally spend their whole lives training for counter terrorism and firearms incidents be any good at dealing with counter terrorist or firearms incidents? They wouldn't right? Just get dave from down the road to come and disarm them
I was legit confused by the title, thinking how can a person by an operation. Like are they surgically modifying people to be better counter terrorist officers.
SCO19 Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Operations is the official name for the teams as a collective unit. Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Officer refers to the individual officer and their firearms level obtained. The two are easily confused as they’re both obviously CTSFO, but the term can be used to address an individual officer as well as the unit.
