This modern world is losing common sense, and parents buying expensive and fast cars to please their kids and show off to the community.
Way too many teens drive fast without fearing the result of an accident. This lack of fear has to do with age.
Insurance, lawmakers should use common sense and technology to control this by mandatory installing a speed limiter device to the teen's vehicles using the OBD connector/port of the vehicle. If the device is removed/unplugged from the vehicle, it would either not allow the vehicle to start, log and report that someone unplugged it.
With a built-in GPS the device would be able to cap the speed limit whenever the vehicle is within city streets and limit the highway speed based on the location.
Insurance companies have a similar device, but, it should be mandatory if the driver is under 21.

@@ttp_007that would make things so much safer. They also need a technology to turn off a teens phone as soon as they start driving! I think they need to raise the age to drive to 18… They just raised cigs to 21 in my state… I remember a 16 yr old in my town was doing 115 mph on a crotch rocket and slammed into the side of a lady I worked withs suv. Her huge suburban spun around 6 times he was going that fast! Luckily she wasn’t hurt but it killed him and she felt so horrible about it even tho it was the drivers fault. When I was 18, I raced "Improved Production" touring cars for a year. One of the things I learned from that is that sometimes, slow is fast. If you push too hard in a turn, or accelerate too early as you're coming out of a corner, it can completely throw everything off. It carries over to the road as well, in that slow is fast. Drive at the speed limit, smooth inputs on the controls, 360 degree awareness at all times, and you'll find that the drive is much more pleasant.
Granted, I do have a turbocharged little hot hatchback, so getting TO the speed limit is sometimes.... "enthusiastic" 😁

Or how many times they pull out in front of me while im doing 50+ (speed limit btw) and cause me to slam on brakes, all the while not a single car behind me. If semi's weren't governed then they would be doing 80+ everywhere. This is the very reason they needed to be governed to begin with. If they followed traffic laws, it wouldn't be necessary. How many speeders can be caught at once, though? If cops spent all their time trying to ticket everyone for going a few miles over the limit, they'd tie up their resources over minor traffic violations instead of dealing with real crime, like responding to burglaries, medical emergencies and other problems that have (or should have) higher priority.
And police departments already do fund themselves by handing out citations like that, lol. When you get pulled over and ticketed for going one mile over the limit, that's exactly what they're doing. Only small towns do that because they don't get much action in general. I live in a mix of city and country in central Florida and we aren't pulled over for going just a few miles over the limit, thankfully. They only do that crap in the really small towns with really small police departments, because minor "speeding" tickets are their bread and butter.

a drunk college kids ripping a Trackhawk, probably with one hand on the steering wheel and the seat leaning all the way back as they zig zag through traffic. Glad no bystanders were hurt.

I think, sadly, that, for a certain demographic in Colleges and Universities (usually moneyed brats), there's a completely different set of mores for those "students" where "money can fix everything" and "Daddy will make it right" or "Coach will step-in and fix it." I have also been told, up-close and personal, scenarios where, in the Sporting and "Daddy Warbucks" environment, professional "exam-takers" showed-up to take exams when it was painfully obvious that the test-taker was not the sports star or the "moneyed brat." Of course it will never happen but I'd actually like to see some of these offending schools shut down but, much like Big-Tech and Big Pharma, that will never happen because they're the academic equivalent of a "pill-mill" and, as long as there's money pouring into schools from endowments, these corrupt endeavors will malinger and continue to turn-out these bad apples.
Sadly there are kids receiving "close but no cigar" letters every year that would work their tails off if given the chance but, time and again, they get the rejection letter. If you ever want verification of this thinking, just watch the Producers of some TV programs on campus asking "students" about various subjects to which they should SURELY know the answers. Unbelievable.
