I think a Funhaus deep dive would be super interesting especially with all the crazy Adam drama as well as the Rooster Teeth stuff that happened around them. Used to be my favorite gaming channel in 2018
It's such a shame how little people got to experience SP7 as it was happening, it's hard to explain how different that content felt. Also please please PLEASE do CowChop next. My all time favourite RUclips channel.
This. The context in which it came out on RUclips is interesting because there really wasn’t anything like it. It would be awhile before streamers and RUclipsrs would add narraration and subtitling after recording/ shooting, as opposed to just uploading a lightly edited vod. The music selection is also unrivaled
@@TriopsTrilobitehelped too that it was also when SourceFed was still going strong with Steve able to technically do one then the other after it eventually got tanked by Discovery.
I dont think people give cannths enough credit for what he puts into these. The structure of how he presents information hits the perfect sweet spot where it covers all the main points without taking up too much time. He also manages to make it feel like it's just one of your mates showing you some cool stuff that they're passionate about (which I guess for Stanz is the case) Mad respect! You're incredibly innovative.
I Hope they do a dive on cowchop, i grew up watching the creatures and it would be so sick for him to go over some of the amazing people who contributed to making those amazing channels
I feel like whats understated is that before SugarPine7, Steven Suptic known as Mlghwnt was making relatively big MC vids to 400k+ subs and also doing Machinimas with Cib, He was one of the few people I watched way back then and I saw him transition from MLGHwnt into Steven Suptic n Sourcefed into Alternative vlogs and then SugarPine 7 and now Sugr, its been a joy watching his journey and enjoying every bit of content he does, was a nice trip down memory lane watching both SP7 deepdives.
its crazy how i watched 2 hours of sugar pine 7 deep dive and have never heard of it before. its crazy that ive seen 80% of all 5up videos and a lot of steve videos and only realized that that is steve from among us in the last 2 minutes of the video.
it's so weird interacting with new fans of his from streaming when i was introduced to him in 2014. Like the Steve i fell in love with and the Steve y'all fell in love with are very much two different people especially since he was a very niche internet personality then. I'm glad he is making it on twitch tho and seems happy the times i catch him
The ending of the final video left me feeling kinda hollow, even having never heard of SP7 before this dive. Then I got to the reveal that two of the members are Whales Talk and Sugr, both familiar names and the latter’s “Oh Death” being one of my favourite songs I discovered this year. That’s so random and awesome.
Huge shout out to Caanths for doing this Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame deep dive into Sugar Pine 7. To this day, I think they made some of the best content on RUclips ever and I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Seriously Caanths, excellent work on these videos and every related dive leading up to this. I started working at Rooster Teeth shortly after they left. I even got to visit their old office a couple years ago (not the one in the strip mall but the one in the Funhaus office, I couldn't stop fanboying 💀)! I'm sad I never got to really meet them in person, but honestly with the state of RT at that time, there's a part of me that's glad I didn't see them around the time of one of Sugar Pine's lowest points. I'm glad they're all (including Autumn) are in much better places now 💜
Both these videos were great! I love the deep dives! I'm someone who discovered Steve from among us lobbies and only found out about sp7 once it was already over and done with. I felt like I missed out on so much of the sp7 lore. Watching theses videos that go over the whole story and also include all the little inside jokes/references was so fun! Thank yooouuuuu!!!!!
The SP7 Streamy's still feels like a dream that shouldn't have happened. The only way to vote, if I recall, was based on tweets and retweets so whichever channel's hashtag got the most activity would win. So SP7 started engagement tweets the biggest being Autumn promising to get a tattoo of Alfredo's name on her ass if they got however many retweets (which she did, and its another great episode). Their soon to be owner company, RoosterTeeth, was also in the running for the same Streamy decided to push SP7 to win instead of themselves. In one of Burnie's vlogs you can see him and the Roosterteeth table cheer when SP7 won. Their real only competition during the Streamy's was actually Philip DeFranco (his former boss at SourceFed) who had the bigger channel at the time and was trying just as hard to win, so it was a truly massive upset.
Honestly, really solid job with the choices of what to include and what to leave out. I'm once again asking for a deep dive on ValleyFolk so Caanths can end with "Aaaaaand we never found out what happened to Lee, the rest lived happily ever after."
God i remember watching the whole series and when it got to the ending my heart was hurting to see this end. I’m happy you were able to bring this to more people and give them the experience of Sugar Pine 7.
SP7 was peak content for me. Fit in so perfectly with my humor and felt so different from every other content out there. Still listen to Cib and James every week just for a little piece of them in my life again.
Everything caanths said about the podcasts introduction was so true. I remember finding it so annoying to receive podcasts notifications I didn't care about
I had never heard of sp7 before but listen to whales talk and Steve’s music all the time. I can’t believe I only now know who they after two hours of sp7 lore.
I was trying to remember why I stopped watching SP7 partly through S3, and why I started to lose interest after S2, and now re-seeing them talk shit [in character] on their own strange content, the content that I had loved up to that point, felt kinda bad. I like the observation you made about the build up to the dramatic, high-stakes ending of the first season being the thing that made it exceptional -- not necessarily the cinematography or the drama, but the slow lead up from surreal comedy with dark moments to genuine, serious artistry with the promise of going back [and forth] again. I believe they had lightening in a bottle with that first season and it would've been difficult to replicate even if they had been able to reflect and correctly pinpoint what made it so special.
I still use my SP7 backpack to this day with all the original patches and merch pins Whenever someone asks me about it, I get the chance to share a genuine piece of art that impacted my life with a new person

i feel like cow chops ending was much sadder. i mean aleks has vanished from the creative space. james wont even acknowledge the old times and bans people on stream when they mention it. the people that tried to fill in for james upon his departure were shit on by fans and some of them were really emotionally hurt. jakob put his creativity out into the ethos creating some of the best videos i have ever seen but he has halted with his offcanny channel (probably due to his high ambitions and videos not being profitable) and deleted his videos on his personal channel. aron and joe are probably living normal lives. trevor is still pursuing his videography passion and has created amazing videos with the likes of jschlatt (cant think of any others on off rip), i see this man everywhere hes always filming something big for someone. i know they are all happy but i still think about how much soul everyone had invested into cow chop. everyone of them as talented as the last, but not all of them are currently using those talents. its just sad man.
You aren't too familiar with the atmosphere of Sugar Pine 7's fall then. It was _toxic_ , more than any video doc could portray. Half the viewers visited only to voice their hatred for what the show became
This was a great series of dives to watch for me. I watched SD from the beginning and I was one of the SP7 viewer casualties once the content started changing up. This was nice to see everyone is well now
Man I watched Steve before sourcefed even. Wasn't surprised with sparkles cause of this, he was an early minecrafter. Don't think he did a lot on his own channel but was always in other peoples videos. So glad he still doin amazing.

I had no idea who Steve was outside of among us. I’ve never watched his stream but I know him from watching 5up. I was tripping out listening to the first episode in the background of playing a game and I was like “this sounds like Steve” I look over glancingly, “eeh don’t really recognize him maybe it’s not him” I hear his name is also Steve and I’m still like “wow what a crazy fucking coincidence that he sounds exactly like Steve but is also named Steve as well” I took a good look afterwards and I lost it. I had no clue that he was so talented
I stopped following Steven, James and Cib a couple years ago, a bit after the cancellations, I saw Steven pop back up on my radar with streaming but I'm glad to hear the other 2 have also found success.

54:52 Had WHALES•TALK pop into my discover weekly a year ago along with a Sugar Pine 7 song and I never knew it started as a RUclips channel spun out of Sourcefed's death until Divemas.
I think of the 'just a couple friends' and 'follow your dreams...easily' vlog videos as the true finale of alternative lifestyle because it's just two little epilogue videos where Cib and James meet up again years after alternative lifestyle ended to film a music video and for james to premiere his film. And steve making one last appearance is like when Steve Carell showed up for the finale of the office. But it was nice to see them all having found their footing despite the unfortunate end of the channel's biggest series
I spent half of this deep dive thinking about how I missed sp7, and I have no good excuse, I only found Steve through twitch and among us. Great deep dive.
caanths the actual goat, these deep dive series' are amazing - especially bc apparently I am also as blind to so much of youtube culture as Stanz is lol (even stuff I was definitely on here every day during... cant believe I had never heard of sp7 prior to this)
I definitely have a much bigger appreciation for Steve and Cib after watching these deep dive videos than I did years ago when they were in their SP7 prime...their type of humor always made me uneasy, because it just fucked with my head so much to have Steve being deadpan about such silly things, and silly about serious things, and it always rubbed me the wrong way...
Ok, so I was huge into Cow Chop for like their whole lifecycle, and knew vaguely of Steven Suptic back when he was a minecraft youtuber called MLGhwnt (yeah, skydoesminecraft was basically my introduction to the internet back when I was a kid). I heard of Sugar Pine 7 via their collabs with Cow Chop, and watched them a bit, but never really got into them. But that was during season 1. Like my most distinct memory of this channel was Autumn’s introduction. I never watched Akrasia or anything. Finding out this channel that I’ve always just kinda assumed was like a sister to Cow Chop or one of the precursors to Offcanny was actually a giant art piece with a long-running narrative is a trip and a half. Going into these videos I was mostly expecting what I would expect from like a Cow Chop deep dive. That is to say, I was expecting an exploration of content about bros being bros with skits mixed in, about the production increasing in scale, eventually getting more corporatized until it falls apart and RT cans it, which is the story of Cow Chop. I wasn’t expecting SP7 to be a proper drama web series that pushed the boundaries of storytelling within its medium, and finding out that RT canned it because it simply couldn’t deliver on returns like RT wanted it to, and not because it was a shriveled husk waiting to die like Cow Chop was makes it even sadder. But hey, I guess what goes around comes around. Rooster Teeth is fuckin dead now, as of last May.
This was dope I have never watched anything of theres and it was cool to learn all the lore, or most of it, I wonder if these videos continue on with a chain like the last few or a completely new set of people.
It’s crazy to me to comprehend something I found out. Throughout the last video I kept feeling like cib was a familiar name to me, finally it clicks, he did a collab with old minecraft RUclipsr ChimneySwift11 playing a game called Citizen Burger Disorder, the video of which I consider the foundation of my sense of humor because I watched it so much as a kid that I can quote most of it. And how from a completely different RUclipsr about a decade later, I find that random guy from the video again
I forgot that I watched alot of the sugarpine 7 videos. In every video shown here I was like "Wait I remember this!" Totally forgot I was an avid watcher.
It's crazy that RoosterTeeth cut SP7 because they were the last thing to be obtained under the RT umbrella, but no other show reached the accolades as SP7. Anyways, RT died also, the end, lol
I think a Funhaus deep dive would be super interesting especially with all the crazy Adam drama as well as the Rooster Teeth stuff that happened around them. Used to be my favorite gaming channel in 2018
The idea that stanz has to watch Demo disk and it’s Rule 34 is so funny
so many good moments
and funhaus sure needs more views nowadays, love them
I grew up on RT id love to see canths explain it to stanz-- can't imagine how he'd cover everything fully, but at least AH and FH are worth going over
@@PGT860 AH, let's play, Gavin AH Vs Slowmo guys, Ray -> new cast, Ryan drama. All of it and the additional channels. Great deep dive

The hearing side bit was so good

I watched Steve in Skydoesminecraft videos and remember trying to look up his account and finally found SP7
Stanz is so underrated as a streamer its borderline criminal
Yo can you guys do a quick run down of unus anus it’s a super interesting experience for those who were there from beginning to end
Seconded
28:41 ooo the cow chop could lead to a creatures line.
I forgot that I watched alot of the sugarpine 7 videos. In every video shown here I was like "Wait I remember this!" Totally forgot I was an avid watcher.
A deep dive of RT would be crazy. May be too much stuff to go through though.
I’m hoping for a dive into almost Friday and the Friday beers company they’ve been putting out so many bangers
BRO WTF, IVE ACTUALLY LISTENED TO WHALES TALK FOR SO LONG AND NOW I KNOW WHAT HE DID BEFORE MUSIC. LITERALLY JAW DROPPED, WOW
I would love to see an Unus Annus deep dive but that kinda would defeat the purpose
Creature hub would be a fun deep dive, used to love watching them. They reminded me of Vanoss back when his group was good
they need to a deep dive on the creatures and cow chop
Creatures/Cow Chop deep dive incoming? (please)
So stoked to watch this. I was obessed with SP7 when they were releasing them lol
I was almost in a sugar pine video. The camera didn't pan far enough at rtx. But I remember them walking right by me.
You have to do CowChop and the Creatures!
used to watch steve back in the MLGHWNT days, now thats a deep dive
I remember being so surprised he was the same guy that made the Minecraft videos
It's crazy that RoosterTeeth cut SP7 because they were the last thing to be obtained under the RT umbrella, but no other show reached the accolades as SP7. Anyways, RT died also, the end, lol
YOU’RE TELLING ME PARKER GAMES *THE MINEPLEX OFFICIAL HIMSELF* WAS FEATURED ON A RUclips SERIES? I NEED TO WATCH THIS
A fun fact to my life is SP7 introduced me to Joji. I will never forget that
These SP7 videos have been great. They are also oh-so bittersweet. I miss SP7 so bad
