How I wish that I was Chinese, I live in China since 1998, many times feel like a Chinese, but can never be.. I love the culture, I think it is the most beautiful culture in the world, and beautiful people, I love China... 我爱中国
As a oversea Chinese we are always being reminded that our birth of origin is our hometown and mainland China is our motherland...so long as you aappreciate the Chinese culture you are already a Chinese...
If you "feel you are Chinese", you ARE Chinese whatever your ethnicity. China has 56+ ethnicities, yours included. Being a Chinese is not a matter of possessing a piece of paper or race. There are many Han people living in the west who have ceased to be Chinese, both as citizens and in their souls.
@Kin FR L Frankly, I haven't a clue what was sljust been said, thus I am not sure if I have offended anyone here. Ethnically I am Chinese although I am proud to identify myself a Malaysian - we have much shit mostly racial and religious but we have way more good to celebrate for. If I were born a white guy, personally I would be happy to live in China, or Malaysia for that matter. The former being that you must be able to communicate in Mandarin and the latter, English (better still Malay).
He's older, if you're younger, its should be the norm, his Chinese is better, his mother 100 yo, great genes.. What a fascinating REAL life story, she seen all the turmoil...of China being poor to rising to be the opposite of the spectrum.
@S̝E̝N̝A̝T̝O̝R̝ A̝G̝R̝A̝P̝A̝ I left China back in 2016, and unfortunately, haven't been back. However, I am planning to return some time, and hopefully soon.
@Chen Chen I strongly recommend looking up the people I mentioned. Their contribution to China, as well as the positive images of China for the west are very important.
He is one of us. He carries a Chinese (red) passport, and no, he is not a permanent resident, but a citizen. Why some commentators here seems surprised that he speaks absolutely perfect putonghua?
Because they have never made immigrants feel at home. Whenever there was trouble, blame the ethnic Chinese and ransack the shops. That's the difference.
Everybody can be Chinese, as good as you have China citizen or born there, don’t call them foreigners anymore, and Chinese have 2 kinds, one is China Chinese and other is call oversea Chinese , we need a new vocabulary words for oversea Chinese. In West they always call Chinese, but Chinese is not only from China. We need a new word for oversea Chinese. Any recommend?
Why is there a need to invent new words, when we already have one right there. Our ethnicities is Han People or Tang people, but we are not Chinese citizens. In the first place that is a much more accurate representation.
Let's all stop being racist from now on.... Not the race or religion or color we should be watching out on but it's a person heart and actions that is what everyone needs to pay attention on.
The way I look at it is it’s not racist, but common sense, he’s spent such a long time in your beautiful country, he’s shown enough commitment to China, how could anyone dare him the right to not belong to China, the pain that must go through him when hears some of the stupid things our government says about. China, must cause upset and embarrassment, but because he’s committed to China he deals with it, lovely man, I hope he has a happy retirement there, from what I’ve seen of China, how could he fail.
This is where the Chinese communist party lacks. This man is born and raised in China, he's as Chinese as they come, including the patriotism. Still not a citizen. That's a disrespect right there since this man is loyal to his country.

For such a long time, there should be other rules allowing you to hold a Chinese green card. There may be new policies in the future

Actually if you live in ancient time, as per the definition of Hua Xia by Confucius, you and your descendant would already be considered Chinese.
I feel for you and hope the Chinese government will open the door for you to become a citizen.

More Chinese than the young Chinese in Hongkong! Put those people to shame!
A Chinaman trapped in a white man's body, or a Chinese gentleman with strange Caucasian appearance. His Beijing accent is unmistakable

You may already know this...Isabel was one of those who received the Friendship Medal from President Xi Jinping prior to national day.
@@youmustbefibbing7376 Yes. The Crooks, and others such as Pat Adler and Joan Hinton, Colin Mackerras, are genuine friends of China.

@Chen Chen That is most generous for you to say such kind words. I hope I can continue to contribute to the Chinese community again.

Between a westerner living in China for 70 years and a western journalist who never set foot on China's Xinjiang I know which one to believe.

I saw him many times in a swimming pool. His beijing accent shocked me when he criticized a naughty boy. He is an interesting man.
我在中國比在外國比較快樂啊!
Looks like I should live a few years in China while I think I can still do.
Thank you. Excellent story.

That's remotely strange and personally uncomfortable to watch but good luck :)👀
I'm curious to your reaction to this video, may I ask , why does it makes you feel this way.? Thank you.
