🏝 INGROUND STOCK TANK POOL!

- Our inground stock tank pool was born out of a need to have a place to quickly cool off and not be an eye sore. It’s simple to maintain and so refreshing!
We decided on a plastic stock tank for a number of reasons. It already had a drain plug hole that was easy to waterproof as an outlet to the pump. Bring fully underground made it more susceptible to rust if it were galvanized and since it was getting buried I wasn’t worried about not having that classic stock tank look you get from the metal ones.

Lucky woman! Having a husband that builds around the home is a blessing.
Lol it's true my husband is a jack of all trades 🤣 then he teaches me how to do stuff makes it sooooo much cheaper plus you get to say that YOU did that
My husband used to do all kinds of stuff like this. Then he became disabled and can’t do anything anymore. I need a handyman to finish out some projects. Des Moines NW suburbs. Must do finish carpentry work.
Amen! My husband was blessed with many blessing. I build him up but never over do it 🥹
How will you cover &
winterize it
FABULOUS video & editing
💯
good grief what does it take in this life to find a handy man like this. Like pulling teeth. Great job !
Handyman service would be a cool job, maybe some day! Thanks!
@@nickbuildsthings :)
I love it! Can you come to NC. I'll pay
WOW!
I, agree with you.
Got to be one of the more entertaining DIY video I've ever seen. The music, editing, everything was just great. Continued blessing Nick to you and family. All good things!
“This is my baby dog” 😊
I had to see if anybody else noticed the editing!! That first clip had me WEAK!!! "You keep diggin'!!!😡" 🤣🤣🤣😭😭
*He should do an abs diy video lol*
I got to give respect for hand digging that monster hole. Geezus. Beautiful job on the whole project!
All that hard clay, geesh, he's a trooper and a keeper!! 👋🙂
Right? Mad respect. I figured he'd be renting a little backhoe for sure.
I dug a hole with a shovel for a koi pond (turned out to be the hottest day of the year) that was 5' wide x 8' long and 3' deep. He was lucky he didn't run into any huge rocks like I had to contend with.
Great job! Enjoyed the editing as well. We bought the 300 gallon rubbermaid stock tank from tractor supply right at the time when everyone was buying up all the pools. Found a small 300 gallon pool pump and it barely moved water. Removed the filter, removed the filter paper, cut out half of the plastic in the filter and wrapped it with reusable filter material. Works great now.
I used a 90° jet at the outlet side so water circulates around the pool and when not usung it, I put a pool cleaning net suspended in front of the jet and it automatically collects most floating debris as the water circulates. Nothing fancy but very enjoyable just the same.
Great ideas.
Super great job. The woman is sure blessed to have this man who diligently tries to make her and him a pool. Both of you, great team work.
Does he have a twin?
Best part was watching the dynamic between you and your wife!!!! Love to see happy flourishing couples! You did an amazing job.
She was in this video very little! Lol
I think you made a really beautiful pool for your dogs.
😂 They love it!
I thought about doing sometime that for my dogs! 😂
It turned out pretty damn good! 👍🏽
Good spot to chill. 😎
I was going to say the same thing. A funny: everytime we pass by a body of water we say: couldn't keep Packer out of that. Man I miss that ol' boy!
@@kayeyeager8006 They (fur children) never leave your heart. In that way they are always with you. Lost my furry girl 10 years ago and I still cry for her. We had 13 wonderful years together.
@@BernWag It's hard, friend. But, it means you are a compassionate soul.
It’s the determination and dedication for me 🙌🏾 Great Job!
My husband did something similar. We bought a round 4' deep 16ft diameter above ground and put it in the ground. We rented a small back hoe to dig out the hole. We bought a regular pool pump and filter used for in ground pools, not the crappy ones that come with above ground pools. Like in this video made it all very nice. Spent a total of about 5k on everything. Kids swam in it for about 4 years until they lost interest. When we took it out, was interesting to see that non of the metal supports had even rusted at all. Most people had no idea it was an above ground pool put in ground. We put it in ourselves with the help of husband's bro and 2 hired teens. 4 years later we took it out ourselves filled in the hole with a truck load of purchased dirt and viola, looks like it was never there!
That was my hope that it could be a simple demolition if we decide to get rid of it and I think it would be.
I bought the same exact blue plastic stock tank from a feed store before the pandemic, ( none available now ) hired my neighbor to deliver it, it's 8' across and 2' high and was told it holds 700 gallons of water. It's made by Behlen. The hardest part was getting it level, it's only half in the ground. I keep Koi in it and they are growing like weeds and actually survived the New England winter with just an air bubbler. What you did with yours is over the top. Great video !
WOW!! The Koi were under ice or the bubbler prevented ice from forming?👋🙂
@@barbarapettry6817 I’am not exactly sure what or how it happened. And it seems unbelievable to me, considering some days were -13°. I think the air compressor kept them alive, although ice did form just not around the hole the bubbler kept open. Just this summer they have tripled in size. Next winter I plan on putting a stock tank heater in it to hopefully keep any ice from forming, and making life a little easier for them. I never saw them all winter until the ice melted in the spring.
@@circlethewagons That's why I was amazed it being New England and all - It sure knows how to get a little "chilly" there for sure!! I saw an article on nextdaykoi that had a bunch of ideas, however, it was referring to a pond and not a pool but they were dealing with extremely cold weather and their Koi. Maybe it will help. Have a Wonderful Rest of the Week!!!
👋🙂
I think they go into a hibernation state at the bottom of the pool and goldfish live in cooler water. I have 5 aquariums in varying sizes, but I have been watching Greg Wittstock, The Pond Guy videos and now I want one too. Yours is a good option.
Hi, how much did the pavers cost? Can you replace the tank if it leaks or breaks?
I have had a blue stock tank pool for years. We had a hillside that we terraced for gardens, and set the tank in the lower level. We initially used it as a swimming pool for our black cocker spaniel, who got very hot in the summer and often swam in the pool. Later I used it as a fish pond. Recently I have 2 grandsons and we converted it back to a pool for them.
Well done on that reusing!! 👋🙂
My question is putting that in did it lower or raise the value of your home? I know above ground pools lower the value
I know how extremely hard work all this was. Your amazing to do this for your family.
You did it for your dogs. What a man a mighty good man
Wish I had a husband like that, lol. Single life
@@jyes23. 😂

Nothing like having a man that's not only loving but super handy and creative. Kind of like having a real life super hero! Excellent job!
😉 great job. I wish it was the good old days in the '90s, where your buddies come over and you provide beer and food on the grill and good music and we get it done 😎
Perfectly great 👍🏾
It may not be perfect but you have the Pride that you did it yourself. It looks Beautiful.

My favorite part too 😊
@@nickbuildsthings the absolute cutest 🥰😍
Love the choices of music
Wow! I like this idea a lot! We had a catastrophic sign from God that we weren’t supposed to have an above ground, after a tree branch from one of our pines fell straight down the middle of it, this past winter. We did fix it temporarily for Summer; however, the effort and work involved to repeatedly put a band-aid over the damaged areas.. let’s just say, it wasn’t a permanent fix. With little to no affordable option, for a replacement that doesn’t involve selling one of your kidneys for shipping, we’ve been looking to do something like this, as well. I, myself, prefer to “Do It Myself”, as opposed to paying someone to come out and do the same thing. This certainly appears to be something I could do, as I enjoy jumping in there and getting my hands dirty.
Thanks for the inspiration and spark to get this project kicked off!
Have you looked into that natural swim pond guy from England? The plants in those ponds are not only beautiful, but they reclaim the water. They use bubblers too. The shade in your yard might also help it not get so hot. Looks so relaxing. Another route for swimmers like myself might be the small continuous current pools. But the equipment for those seem kind of pricey.
@@KKIcons Oh ok.. thanks! I’ll have to check out some of his videos, then. We tend to lean more towards natural ways, to spruce up our landscape, especially in areas where we enjoy family and entertain guests. Despite all my positive efforts, I seem to be fighting a losing battle with 10 gigantanormous pines, towards the back of our property. Yes, they provide optimal shade and an abundant supply of burnable wood; however, that comes at a cost. Their roots run deep and the pine needles are many. No growth from anything substantial.
As for buying/creating a steady current within a pool.. you’re right, it can be quite pricey. I’ve always thought it would be neat to just have a “lazy river”, tbh.🤔 I think I’ll keep on dreamin’..
That is a great jo band looks fantastic.
You did a great job! I enjoyed seeing the progress from beginning to end it looks great!!
Looks wonderful, a happy place to enjoy.
It really is!
Wow definitely a labor of love! Turned out beautiful!
Beautiful and fun..
Watching this really made me happy. You did good and it looks beautiful!
Round point shovel is your friend.
Great idea on that style stock tank. Your little assistant was the best.
What a great project! Also the editing on this video is A1. Great job👍🏾
I really enjoyed this video! You’re the funniest! A fantastic job! Continual Blessings
Love all the details 💙 you did an outstanding job 🙏🏽
You had a good helper there man👍👍👍👍
You’re much more committed to rehandling that dirt than I. I’m a bit OCD about efficiency and instead of moving it all back and sifting through it, I would’ve put landscape fabric down and a pea gravel with stepping stones throughout and a creeping plant like chamomile to keep weeds from popping up. Love it! Great job, “and as always, enjoy!)…
Great job on the project! But also...loved the humor in your video production!
Great job!
We are doing something similar with a 9’x29” plastic stock tank. It should have uv inhibitors and last a really long time. Ours is already many years old (we got it free from a neighbor) and shows no signs of wear. Ours is built into a sloped yard so half the work.
A cover (wood frame around foam) should do wonders for keeping it cleaner and the desired temp.
I also added a couple other suggestions below, but great job nonetheless.
That's nice!!! I want one. Beautifully done.
What a beautiful and functional addition to a backyard. I need to consider this in my future reno's. Great job!
Great work ...what a lucky woman
Great video! Love the effects! And editing. Entertaining and fun and not long, drawn out 💩 like some are. It looks like you did your research and thought it through.👍👍👍🏝🏖😎
Omg what an awesome job…. I wish I knew you!😄 Great commentary.
wow impressive! It would've been funny if after a few scenes of the puppy, you were laying the down the stone on another day and it was a full grown dog ;-)
Lol
Great ideas! Great job! Great body! Dang this DIY pool had some mighty fine landscape views
That looks great. You did an amazing job. You guys have to be proud of yourself for doing that.
You did an awesome job! A few potted palms & you have your very own oasis😎🌴🌴!!
