- "Back Stabbers" is a 1972 song by The O'Jays. Released from the hit album of the same name, the song spent one week at #1 on the Hot Soul Singles chart. It was also successful on the pop charts, peaking at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in October 1972. The narrator in "Back Stabbers" warns men about their male "friends" who smile to their faces, but are secretly planning to steal their wives or girlfriends.
We can all agree, it doesn't get any better than this
Great seventies....
Yes we can.
It does.
I posted that six years ago...AND I TOTALLY FRICKN' AGREE!!
@@jaye188 It does. NOT get better than this. Just saying.
51 years ago today this song was their debut song
This was so true back then and still holds today: beware of backstabbers.
I wish I can be a kid again in brooklyn nyc 1970s what a fun time in music
Born 1989 still bumpin in 2024
One of the best intros ever
I gave the intro piano a bit of a LIFT.
@@larryhinze what
you took the words
I had no idea that Angie Stone I wish I didn't miss you was actually the intro from this song. And I heard this song by accident while watching the trailer for Looking for Mr Goodbar.
This song is so true. This song always reminds to be careful who I trust and be friends with because not everyone who smiles at me is not my friend
YES MAM ,SO CALLED FRIENDS? NOT UNLESS THEY WANT SOMETHING
I agree. There are many people in this world with that fake smile.....
SMILING FACES SHOW NO TRACES OF THE EVIL THAT LURKS WITHIN ( LUCY).
Good 👍 comment I gotta add you
Love this song cuz it's so true
I had two types of FRIENDS....the one’s that were a BLESSING and other’s that were a
LESSON......❤️💯❤️
Dats rightly so
Yep! But unfortunately, sometimes, we've gotta learn that lesson the bloody hard way.
Everybody's a lesson, that's the truth.
TRUE ❤
I only had lessons ie. don’t trust anyone, they’re all like their father 🐍
I love The Ojays forever.

Ship Ahoy is still my Favourite O’Jays song though 😊
Epic! I loved this song & music like this back in the days when I was 14-15, even while at the same time heavily fanatic about hardrock, progrock, symphonic rock, bluesrock, countryrock.. if you love music.. these things simply are possible
That intro tells me something good has arrived
This song is the reason why I don’t have friends! Listen to the lyrics carefully and wisely!
ME TOO ,I DONT F WITH PEOPLE
If you can find one true loyal friend to the end, your lucky
Here in 2023, the joint!!
The beat does something for my soul. Lol. #KCGirl
The intro especially, nervous strings, big piano...
Pur chef d'oeuvre !!!!!!!!! Unbelievable soul groovy !!!!!
The 70s and 80s were magical music eras. Some of the best singers and musicians existed in that time zone. The level of creativity and collaborations were in a time capsule of magical spiritual ecstasy that infiltrates the mind body and soul. Some have attempted to imitate it but it has never been fully replicated it's time capsule remains the keeper of the magic.
Beautifuly put 👍totally agree, love and peace coming to you from Liverpool uk x
