Durres might not be high on most traveller's agendas, but it's a special place for a lot of Albanians with fond memories of their youth. It's worth a visit for that reason alone. Add in an impressive history, spanning various empires, and a lovely coastline, and you can't really afford to miss it
It is a college town in my opinion, and has some amazing attractions. Young people should visit Durrës and immerse themselves in the city. It is a lot of fun. The beach by the hotels and harbor was cool, but the district near the university was so fun. Even though some people spoke only Albanian, Italian, Greek, and Turkish, everyone wanted to have a good time. Albania is probably one of the only countries where being friendly is necessary. I remember the police jokingly stopping me on the sidewalk in Durrës just to tell me "don't look so sad, you are in a wonderful place!"

Awwww! Really want to travel in 2021, Albania looks amazing 😍We went to Galapagos Islands in November 2020 and can't tell how amazing is the experience of playing with sea lions, swim with sharks and mantas, become friends with a giant tortoise and iguanas... love it 😍😎🐢🐟

Dany some places you should visit, trip in Tirana mountain by Dajti cable car that’s longest trip in Balkan by cable car around 20 minutes. Also there’s a bar that turns around 360 so from a city view after some minutes you’re in a mountain view. Also you definitely need a “snow video” so I would suggest you Valbone in north, very touristic place during winter nice food and view and lot of snow, or Voskopojë/Dardhë near Korçë. Also something special that you’ve may find interesting is AliKali restaurant in Divjakë where the waiter serves you the food by coming with horse in ur table.

Durres, Vlore or Sarande?? Thanks for the good insights into the city. Only suggestion I might make is always tell how much the food costs, it's good to know, thanks!
thanks Ron. Might film in one of the malls. there is some nice and some oldschool ones. I workout in Tirana in the Ring Center. Big nice mall. I would probably go for Sarande. Felt the most European and liked it most in terms of nature. Location wise maybe Vlore as its closer to Tiranas Airport

One year ago Durres had a magnitude 6.5 earthquake so the city may look like a construction site rn. In 5 years the city will look amazing again.
