    From a game theory standpoint, his decision makes complete sense. If he was okay with risking $9,000, he should be okay risking $18,000 in that situation. What a boss.

      @@masterdoge987 True, but Roger was also (and probably still would be) a force to contend with. It was a risky move, but he went with it. I don’t think even James Holzhaurer ever made that risky of a move (save for his all in bet in final when Ken Jennings won the G.O.A.T). He’s also one of the first to go for high dollar clues to maximize daily doubles. James wasn’t the first, he just managed it better.

  • @masterdoge987
    @masterdoge987 2 года назад +8

    Fun fact: Roger’s total that day was so massive that it was mathematically impossible for the other two to catch up on day two.
    Literally.
    Sure, there’s “impossible” where the contestant has a guaranteed win as long as they don’t bet more than X. But this was different. Even had Tom bet every penny he had in the second day’s Final Jeopardy, and been right, he would have had $48,000. Less than Roger’s $50,000 from the first day. Therefore, Roger has the tournament on lock no matter what he does.
