I love this list just because it feels like someone’s list. What I mean is that loads of lists I have seen online have all the same films in them and are very generic but this one has quite a few films I wouldn’t expect or haven’t heard of which makes it feel more authentic. Great list, love the podcast.

Kannst mir ja kurz Bescheid geben, ob Du diesen schönen Text überhaupt gelesen hast. Bis dann, liebe Grüße vonHelenWelonmelon

Fanny & Alexander doesn't get enough love was glad to see that wasn't the case here. It's a stunningly beautiful work of art. I have 100% never seen a film set around that time period make me *feel* it so much, the atmosphere of it, several scenes feel like Christmas did when you were little. The set design and costuming are phenomenal, it's just gorgeous. I highly recommend the full 5 hours, it's well worth the investment.
On another note, anyone reading this who thinks Schindler's List is "the best world war 2 film depicting what the Nazi's were doing" should check out 1985's "Come And See" the film which inspired Spielberg when making SL and SPR, he also showed it to the entire cast of SL before filming began and it depicts the other holocaust, the one in Eastern Europe which claimed 26 million lives most of them civilians.

After I criticized so harshly that you included 'Apocalypto" in your list of underappreciated movies, I decided to check out some more of your videos - and I really like your list of the best movies ever. I mean, we all know that these lists are very, very subjective, and there is also an element of chance, because there are many great movies out there, which you haven't seen, yet, and you are still young! And there are many great movies out there which you may not have seen because they are not available in English. But I am very impressed by how many very different movies you have seen already!
I also like that you present each of your 100 movies as if it's the best film ever made. That's absolutely ok because we know that the exact ranking of these lists is somewhat arbitrary. I would call it "100 movies you should definitely watch if you believe in cinema as a part of our cultural heritage". Oh well ---- that caption wouldn't attract many viewers 😊
I enjoy these lists because they always initiate lively discussions and they make me aware of movies which I should definitely watch.
Have you ever made a list of the most the most influential movies? Movies which introduced new technologies or initiated a genre? Such a list wouldn't feature many recent movies, but it would remind younger viewers that there was a time before the very survival of movie theaters depended on blockbuster comic adaptations like the Marvel movies 😉
On such a list would be silent movies like Abel Gance's monumental biopic "Napoleon" which is way better than Ridley Scott's latest rendition of the little guy from Corsica. Abel Gance who was incredibly creative, was one of the first movie makers who firmly believed that movies can be art works just like poetry, novels or paintings. Murnau's incredible "Nosferatu" may still feature the scariest vampire of all time. The crazy little movie "Shadow Of The Vampire" with John Malkovich as Murnau and Willem Dafoe as Max Schreck aka Count Dracula is a fictive documentary about the making of "Nosferatu" with the premise that Murnau hired for the leading role a real vampire, because it was impossible that an obscure actor like Max Schreck - Maxx Scare in English - could be so intensely scary! The first "King Kong" would be on such a list and of course Peter Jackson's ""Fellowship Of The Ring", which initiated more than one genre, and Andy Serkis as Gollum elevated motion-capture to an art form.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see if there are more recent movies which could be on such a list in a couple of years...

If i see The Matrix or Get Out on here then its definitely not your real top 100 , its ur top favorites because those definitely aren't top 100 greats of all time idc what era u were born or what types of films u like , u gotta be completely unbiased to make a Best of All Time list when it comes to anything regardless if its a personal favorite or not!!!! Just make a top 100 favorites because its impossible for any single person to make a real top 100 of all time list!!!! It really is & thats why it needs a majority rule & even then its not going to be on point but i did think u did a ok job at trying not to be too biased!!!! I feel like ur list is more of a top 100 original ideas for a film thats never been done before type of list tbh
I honestly think Batman Begins is actually the first movie to change the comic book era in the way ur speaking of , it just didn't have Heath Ledgers version of the Joker in it written & acted as a perfect villain in it which as good as it is , its almost highly overrated because of that reason because ofcourse everyone is going to fall in love with that lightning in a bottle of a superhero/villian idea for a superhero film but Batman Begins is actually more rewatchable tbh & it definitely is the original "real life crime drama" superhero film so u should have chosen that over TDK if thats the case because if we are really being honest , Christopher Nolan could have easily written ScareCrow in the first film to be as just iconic as the joker character was if Nolan really wanted to especially with that mask & u know Cillian Murphy would have definitely pulled it off too & then ofcorse Batman Begins would be the most talked about highly rated Superhero film & Supervillain of all time instead if he went that direction instead of waiting to use that idea for the sequel !!!!

Not a bad list and I realise that its all subjective for each one of us. However I cannot take it too seriously when you have no The Princess Bride and no Memento. Also for some reason musicals never get a shot and yet there are amazing musicals out there like Fiddler on the roof, Gigi, Sound of music, Cabaret, Chicago and Singing in the Rain. Not a one here. Good to see Goodfellas rank well but not happy to see LOTR down where it is. Its incredible to have pulled it all together, the shooting of all 3 movies at once, the incredible details in every set, the dedication given by one and all to bring the most read book in the western world to life. I need to see about 15-20 of these movies so I will look forward to that.

Some excellent movies here, but far too many piles of doggie-doo. No. 2, for example, is abjectly terrible. Wtf. Also, I can’t take seriously any list that excludes The Godfather and Citizen Kane from the top 10. Unforgivable.
