- This video is about post harvest handling of tomatoes. This video explains a very simple way of storing tomatoes using ash from the kitchen to store tomatoes. It explains the benefits of ash in storage of tomatoes, the process of sieving the ash, the effects of leaving the air pockets through big chunks which can cause the tomatoes to rot, the tomato selection process, the importance of using card board or box to store the tomatoes because of the aeration and the economic benefits of selling your tomatoes at the right time by avoiding the loss and finally increasing house hold income. How cost effective the process is when you use the 3R principles of Reduce, reuse and recycle.

Woow
Surely, is ash acidic? Have started doubting the the technique.plz research more
Hi, the ash is acidic but the PH level is very friendly with the tomatoes and it cannot allow anything to grow in it
Kindly note that wood ashes are very alkaline with a PH level of level of around 9 to 11.
