I'd like to remind everyone about the Badger combo where you can conjure beasts, get a bunch of elk, and dig under ground to make sure your concetration's safeguarded while the elk murder everyone.
Another point that makes the Giant Spider such a good Utility Shape, it's ridable with its 420lbs weight capacity. Assuming the rider isn't deathly afraid of spiders, anyway.
The Giant Rocktapus from Out of the Abyss is also an *amazing* creature to use, for all the same reasons as the Giant Octopus. But it has the advantage of being land based and having no swim speed, so it's available from level 2! The one downside is that, since they copied everything wholesale from the Giant Octopus, they left in Water Breathing. So it has no swim speed but can only breathe underwater... even though its entry describes it living and thriving in land. So you can only really use it for a battle unless your GM is lenient and fixed the typo they made by leaving that in, but even in short bursts its pretty amazing for having a climb speed, advantage on stealth checks, reach, size, and the ability to inflict the Restrained condition.
Playing a Druid in my current campaign and this popped up in my recommendations on RUclips. Imagine my surprise when I recognized the voice. Pretty sure the YT algorithm put this in my path because of Chaos Draft, but who knows. Anyways, super helpful video. Very succinct.
Love you doing D&D videos, keep them coming. Have you considered doing lists like Top 10 over used adventure hooks or Top 10 worst places in the forgotten realms/the sword cost?
Got to say all three of your wild shape videos have been incredibly helpful and interesting. Several beasts that I had either overlooked or just didn't know about. Would you ever consider doing a top 10 utility wild shapes for moon druids? With the extra CR boost I'm curious what you'd pick and if you'd pick some other creatures I'd overlooked or forgotten again.
Note for DMs if you have a druid in the game put a traveling carnivals, back alley traders and bizarre Talk to your druid and set up a table for things they want to see.Don't tell them how you are going to do it. Put limits to what they may ask for . Roll to see if they are there. 1-5 chance. So Roll Xd for chances then Roll Xd for creature they may see
I had a pretty cool DM that also let Cat Wildshape have a 50ft drop skill that let them drop from that height and get no damage under 50 ft but with a taller height and a Dex saving throw higher than 15. Cats could drop at least 70 ft with no damage
I would be really interested in what the best utility or "long term" spells are, with which i could use my Wish spell (or Limited wish). My next character is going to be a Genie Warlock, but I don't have a lot of experience with spells in general
Something else about the Giant Centipede worth noting: Paired up with a spell that obstructs vision the low hit point pool is much less of an issue. Opening an encounter with Obscuring Mist and bonus action wildshaping into a centipede is a pretty effective way to ruin someone's day at the lower levels, plus it gives you this sort of "alien" vibe of goons in a thick fog being picked off one-by-one by a monster bug.
A moon druid i play got attacked alone by thugs who threw sand in my eyes and blinded me, i instantly turned into a giant spider since being blinded didnt bother me anymore and then a guard showed up and i had alot of explaining to do
When we take into account that some of our Groups PCs can buff us with some really great spells, then some of the highlighted utility options gain even more bonus. Such as; Enlarge/Reduce (Wizard/Sorcerer)assists with grapples and other benefits, Bless (Cleric/Paladin) for attacks/saves boost, lots of others.... Considering the bonuses that my personal fave (Giant Spider) can receive, these can all be incredibly useful. :o p.s. I don't think WotC gave the Croc or Giant Croc enough AC, regardless of their low Dex. If they had paid attention to the amount of times Crocs have shrugged off BULLETS (multiple vids on YT regarding that), I think they'd add at least a couple points... :)
what happens to a swallowed creature when the druid looses wildshape. Are they still inside??? Given that the stat block specifies the target can crawl out of a corpse
You should note that you cant actually cast dancing lights as a Deep Rothe, the wording of wildshape says “You can't cast Spells, and your ability to speak or take any action that requires hands is limited to the capabilities of your beast form. Transforming doesn't break your Concentration on a spell you've already cast, however, or prevent you from taking Actions that are part of a spell, such as Call Lightning, that you've already cast” This restriction on spell casting means that even innate spell casting like with the Deep Rothe is still restricted, as it is still spell casting and the wildshape does not specify what kind of spellcasting is restricted.
Why is it weird that a cat has a higher climb speed than a spider? It’s bigger. It would take a spider a couple of seconds to move the length of the cat’s body. Of course it’s going to be faster than a spider, climb and normal move. 🧐🙄

Given how useful it blindsight is, I'm not sure it is a typo, but calling it 'blingsight' in the centipede entry is either accidental or amazing.
It was for sure total on purpose and definitely not an accident.

I had a player that would use heat metal on heavy armor opponents and wild shape into a squirrel or bird to keep the spell going.
From the creators of rip in peace, comes cr rating.
Didn't even notice XDDDD
Moorbounders are tough to turn it though, as they're an Exandrian creature, so most people aren't going to run into one in content.

This list turned back into "most useful combat wildshapes" by the end.

You should do a video about the best creatchers that you can ride on.
I’d give an honorary mention to the Staff of the Python, since it’s a magic item and not a beast, but has a swim speed.
nice idea
do you mean creatures?
You can't turn into one of these until level 8...
Moon druids "AM I A JOKE TO YOU?"
I've just found out about the cave badger, which is basically an improved badger with faster burrowing speed, and tremor sense!

i love druids they are my favorite class, just wish other circles outside of moon had better wild shapes at lower levels.
Would you be interested in doing a Best/Worst Multi-class combos?
Is there a reason why a regular spider is not on the list? Is it because the giant spider already is?
Because the cat has better stats 0:25

Giant Badger make excellent beast to conjure with *Summon Woodland Beings.* Used them to deal 42 damage to a end of dungeon boss once.

Badger..Wouldnt it only need to burrow down and not back up tho?
