He finished with all majors, which back then, it only took six Akitas for a five pt. major. He took his first major, over his sire, at eight months old. Over the years, back in the eighties, I did not like how the Akitas were looking. different head types, different bodies, size, bone, ears, structure. Just another big dog. But now, I see they are going back to how they should look, and I am so glad to see this. Yumi looked just like these Akitas in this show ring, and if he hadn't been my baby, I could have put him in the hands of a handler, as I was approached by one in Seattle when I was at a show there, he probably could have been in the rankings, but I didn't want him being away from me.
