Great that you explained the first one with supplemental violation alternatives

What about the third VAR in the Vancouver Portland game. The one where the ego of the ref prevent his THIRD clear and obvious error wasn’t over turned? He looks at it 2 seconds and refused to look at his screw up.

Are you seriously not going to go over Petrescu’s inexcusable decision to award the second penalty against Portland? VAR even recommended a review and Petrescu stuck with his original decision after one look at the monitor.

Petrescu didn’t get a single penalty correct in that match. He was 0/3

@@RysloFC truly one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen.

As usual… Greg Barkey finds a reason to support the referees decision while video evidence proves the opposite… the Center Referee has the ability to always overrule any VAR is the problem 9/10 why have VAR if you aren’t going to use it to overrule clear and obvious errors

Two horrible penalty decisions two weeks in a row against Portland and neither of them were in here. You don’t even have an excuse for the one this week because the VAR actually recommended a review, too, so it was within the parameters of what can be in this show.

At least they acknowledged that it wasn’t a penalty on the definitive angle

Like IVR, I also like the fact that the ref has the final say, unlike European Var. Third replay could have gone either way, ref saw it and called it and that’s it. Would love to see something down about time wasting( global problem) I believe if we implement a clock stoppage in the last 10 mins of a game it would eliminate the bs, anyone thoughts ?

If the VAR has a better view of the clear and obvious error… the Center Ref should be forced to accept the VAR decision because they already had the opportunity to call it correctly and who knows the Center Referees integrity or issues with players/teams on the fields… or maybe their possibility with betting on games

@@ShaneLucas217 I hear ya point, the ref gets the same replays and input as the review team, also the same can be said in-terms of integrity about the review team. I do however feel the one with that authority to make the final decision is the ref. Any thoughts on the time wasting ?

@@sonny3493 it depends on the type of time wasting there is a sporting way through possession and game play then there are the dark arts… FIFA & especially MLS need to clean up the dark arts and they need to start it when the opening whistle sounds the start of the game and not wait until the final 10-15 minutes of the game… absolutely NO consistency for PRO on this matter!
As for the Center Ref with the final decision I could not disagree with you more… I referred for almost 10 years and the blind pride of referees is their undoing sometimes… they want to see and reinvent the facts to fit their narrative sometimes… when there is CLEAR AND OBVIOUS evidence to change a decision it MUST be used! The VAR only calls down for a look once they see clearly the center ref has missed a call… giving the Center Ref full authority is too Machiavellian in my opinion… they already screwed or up and they will want to save face by justifying their F’up! The VAR Official is a certified referees who should know the rules as well as the Center Referee so their decision should be trusted NOT pushed away as the Center Referee tries to reinvent the FACTS!

@@ShaneLucas217 ok, when I meant time wasting I meant a team that’s up on the scoreboard and a player gets nicked and stays down grimacing as if he broke a bone, slow roll to the bench on a sub or the infamous 1 min throw in and then he gives the ball to another player to throw in and lastly the goalie dive, hold, place and finally after surveying the entire stadium kicks the ball. This also heats up the opposition which leads to tempers flying. As for the ref thing I’m speaking from the point of view as a fan for 50 yrs, you add a totally different perspective and I appreciate it, I’ve never been on the field and certainly didn’t know about egos, I do see a ton of questionable calls that always that always make me question what exactly happened. So thanks for the insight.

@@sonny3493 I’ve always thought that if a player goes down for no apparent reason that they need attention from the physio/trainer that they should be taken off the field for a certain amount of time for the stoppage… currently if it’s a cardable offense the player rightfully stays on the pitch… the issue with fifa is they don’t want anything left to perception so it would need to be if A happens then B is the result just so referees aren’t allowed to put their imprint on the game which is kind of ironic because referees almost always leave their imprints on the game… hopefully it’s it a minor imprint when it happens not major flashpoints like goals, red cards, or injuries
