    If I was visiting NYC I would likely say WOW to a couple of those views too. But I lived in the heart of Montreal for 30 years and when all you can see out the window is more buildings and rooftops - you pretty quickly begin to ignore it and there is very little about that type of view that will brighten you any sense of stress relief and calm. I now live in a much smaller town with a 10 by 10 deck off my kitchen above my ground floor patio and garden and I have breakfast out side among the tree tops whenever the weather permits. Blue skies, green grass and trees, flowering shrubs and gardens, birds chirping and squirrels dashing - thats a view.

      But it's a sixth floor walkup.
      Had a friend in the West Village who lived in a fifth floor walkup, and this is 30-some years ago, and even being young, it was tiring. And then more stairs in the apartment.
      Beautiful place, but these old legs ain't going to be visiting any time soon!
      You have to be quite spry to live there.

    The 3rd one is nice. My family lived in Brooklyn and im so impressed that my parents could afford it we had a 3 bedroom apartment with a small kitchen but it fit a small table and chairs and we had one bathroom and and a dining room and living room and my bedroom fit a bunk bed that i shared with my sister and my dad worked the tugboat and my mom stayed home. We only had one car but we walked or took the bus or the subway. But then the politics changed and the gangs made it unsafe so after my sister and I were attacked we moved to NJ... i loved the city back then. Thank you for giving us the tour.

    The NR train do not run on second avenue. It's just the Q. Since most real estate in NYC does not have floor to ceiling or in-unit W/D its somewhat off just kind of say, you can't get a 5 without that. NYC is an older city, maybe acknowledge that and move on. It is well known that south facing views in NYC are the best for natural light, regardless of the window type.

    Rent Control laws are largely responsible for these ridiculous rents. Developers do not want to come in to a city with rent control laws, so there is a lack of supply of units in NYC. And there are buildings with seniors paying $500.00 per month, for these same units, so landlords have to jack up the rents on new tenants. Rent control should be illegal. It's a violation of property rights.

    • @fdm2155
      @fdm2155 4 месяца назад +4

      Rents are also crazy in cities that don't have rent control. Developers aren't in a hurry to increase stock. When they do build, it's strictly top end price point units.

    • @lascreen3198
      @lascreen3198 3 месяца назад

      Rental units should be owned by the cities and rented out for a reasonable % of income, not hoarded by money grubbing predators intent on undermining a functioning society. Check out Austria’s public housing system before you run your money grubbing mouth.
