This is definitely one of the most beautiful records of the year, alongside Take Me Back To Eden for me. Head Prison Blues had me in tears when I heard it, and the record is such a beautiful journey. The contrast between the first and the last track is so, so pretty. Have your impressions changed at all since the initial reaction? P.S. hope you dealt with the crane fly haha
the crane fly came back to haunt me again right as i was about to fall asleep, so i essentially got very close to having a breakdown of sorts because i was so stressed out. it's dead now though, and i slept pretty well afterwards. but honestly, no. none of my impressions have changed. my favs are still (in order) false dawn, honey moon, scissors, her wings, these new dreams and death nonetheless. i'm still waiting a bit for the others to grow on me - i'm still a bit disappointed with the blueball ending of the angel in the marble, but i guess it leads into kintsugi? yeah.
@@jakeftr437 Glad you managed to deal with the crane fly, I tend to have issues with insects sometimes as well so I get how unnerving it can be at certain occasions. That's really interesting. Head Prison Blues and The Angel In The Marble are definitely the highlights for me, but I really love all the tracks. I do think you are kinda right about the ending of Angel though. While I feel like the track is great as it is, I think at the very least the track could've had some extra atmosphere to it instead of just cutting off after the final line. My guess is the idea was to end it on a calm note vocally because it's supposed to represent self-growth, so it wouldn't make as much sense if Lucas was to do a crazy delivery like on Mourning Song for example. I don't know about Kintsugi yet, haven't had a chance to hear it. It's supposed to be a teaser track for record #4 though, so I don't think it should really be looked at as a part of the record per say.
@@stikks not gonna lie to you, my list has changed already lol. scissors -> her wings -> false dawn -> honey moon -> death nonetheless -> these new dreams. scissors is everything i want from HA, and the chorus + ending of her wings are too good for it to not overtake false dawn at this point.

I had a huge crane fly situation recently too and I just used my vacuum cleaner and sucked it right up, haha. I adore this album and this band. The theme of this album hits me so close to home.

I was also surprised that angel in the marble ended where it did. My brain wanted another 2 minutes of build. Or maybe just a ring out. Not an abrupt stop. Album of the year regardless though.
