Aisha (ra) said: "I had seen my parents following Islam (they embraced Islam 12 years before the marriage of Aisha to Prophet ﷺ) since I attained the age of puberty. Not a day passed but the Prophet ﷺ visited us, both in the mornings and evenings." - Sahih Bukhari 476
From this hadith we learn that Aisha reached pubescence long before the consummation of marriage to Prophet ﷺ.
Aisha (ra) said: "When a girl is nine years old, she is a woman (i.e. girls normally cross puberty at very young age in those times)." - Tirmidhi 1109
Besides, the age of Aisha at the time of her marriage is disputed. Various ages are mentioned, ranging from 6 to 20, according to different narrations. However, this is not a matter of concern, as we know from Aisha's own narration that she had reached puberty before the marriage and was fit for it. She lived for a long time after the demise of the Prophet. She was not only the wife of the Prophet but also a sage, scholar, political voice, and an important figure in Islamic history. She revered her husband throughout her life. Those who make her marriage a controversy today would easily overlook the great life she lived with and after the Prophet.
