I don't even have the same car as you but the quality of this video is very high. I can see how much effort you put into making this and I appreciate that. Keep up the good work.
Wow, thank you so much!
Great way to reduce vibrations and water retention in the door Pannel.
I stopped watching the video when he said audio books... lmao
Lol. It does help with reducing music vibrations. If you have an upgraded system, then you'll probably need more Dynamat than I used in this video.
i bought a whole new speaker set and it still vibrates , it drives me crazy because i listen to heavy bass music 🤦♂️
My fix was the minimal for a stock setup. As soon as you start upgrading the speakers, you'll have to do more. On my last car, I had to Dynomat the inside of my doors as well as trim to make all the rattles go away. I even used expanding foam in my trunk lid to make it stop vibrating.
Bro sameee I paid 150 for this shit and the door rattles are so fucking annoying
Really interesting. Good job on finding places that caused the rattle! I don't have this problem with mine but if I ever do I'll be ready. Thanks!
u r the goat
I have an annoying rattle on 05 with 165K miles. I finally had time to take out right rear panel and can't tell where the rattle comes from. It's annoying and makes hip hop songs sound like crap when certain frequencies are hit.
Do you still hear a rattle when the panel is off?
Hey bro my 07 tc has crazy rattling with the bass and I had to lower the bass all the way to -2 for it to stop. Were you able to fix this rattle?
When i was in the car speaker vibrating the doors Thats was crazy
Being 100% genuine, us tC owners appreciate you 110%. You and your videos are extremely helpful
Thanks for this man, I also listen to alot of audio books and I get that buzz sound as well
i had this same issue and it was only during some songs... FIXED IT just was about to buy new bose door speaker but i just took off the door panel and put a little spongey thing against the speaker to keep it from rattling and now everything works great
Nice video, makes a lot of sense, I'm a podcast guy, music sometimes, podcast most of the time and yes it gets annoying, hopefully this will help 👍
Awesome video, very helpful and well filmed and edited. I wish they just did this at the factory SMH.
lesson learned... don't buy a scion.. lol
Had mine since 2005. 165K miles. Zero mechanical issues. Probably one of the top 10 under $20,000 cars ever made.
If that small issue is all it takes for u to decide not to buy a certain vehicle i doubt you will ever own a vehicle
Is polyfill a good option to go with? I'm assuming it's much cheaper than the dynamat stuff. Can't wait for the third book if Rothfuss ever writes it.
No, only use polyfill if you have something loose moving around like wiring or plastic and want to isolate it from rattling. The actual door and door panels will need Dynomat or similar. They also make sound dampening spray that I've used in conjunction with Dynomat when I had a full sound system in my last car.
What width/thickness weather stripping foam did you use for the door panels under the window controls?
I don't remember off the top of my head. It was just some scrap foam I had lying around. You can probably just get 1/2" wide stripping. It doesn't need to be very thick... maybe 1/8" to 1/4". You just need to keep window controls from directly vibrating against the door panels.
Does this apply to passenger side?
Yes, both sides.
Got a Scion Xb that has an annoying rattle with bass. Wonder how this gets passed by QA.
Unfortunately, Scion was a lower end car make so they cut costs where they could to make it affordable.
Thank you for this. Made my tc better.
I used the noico brand and I’ve noticed a big difference in sound quality and less rattles
Im chasing a door vibration after a new speaker install myself, all the trim is removed its not that. Very similar in that only certain frequencies cause the vibrations, doesnt happen much during music, but phone calls ect. I play back specific youtube videos of some guy talking that always causes it. Speaker isnt damaged either because it does not do it when decoupled from the door.
Have you tried removing the trim for a few days to see if that makes it easier to track down where the noise is coming from?
My 12’ Audi A6 Bose drivers door speaker rattles everytime you turn up the bass at all.
Dynamat should definitely help. You may need to apply it directly to the door around the speakers.
king killer chronicles, great series :D, i have the same problem with my door, its fine for music but not for particular audiobook readers :D
Thank you! Someone that actually understand my pain. LOL. Yes, that was a great series. I haven't had any more issues with vibration since I did this fix while listening to my books.
my 06 and 2013 tc rattles but to be it always seems like its the door windows...
You could try driving without the door trim on to try to isolate the noise.
@@VampyreX13 I getting ready to swap out my KENWOOD DMX7706s stereo from my 06 to my 2013 and install a new amp and sub in the back. I am hoping that will help.
@@Thelittledroog that sounds like it would help make it rattle more. Lol.
@@VampyreX13 I'm trying to fix it without taking my door apart 🙃🤡
@@VampyreX13 Ok I seemed to have fixed it. instead of plugging my iPhone in through usb cord to play music I switched to bluetooth and no more rattle
Is this what I can do with a Kia Sportage as well? Both mine rattle now
I don't know what the Kia door looks like inside, but if removing the door trim makes your rattles go away, then adding Dynamat to it and securing any loose plastic sheeting should help.
That nice that they come stock with 3 speakers in the front per side so you can do 3 way components
Yes. It's pretty decent for a stock sound system. You only really need to add a DSP to make the system sound better.
He said it was going to be really easy it looks like it's going to be out of work🙄
I never said it was going to be quick, but it is pretty easy to do when it's not freezing outside.
What about the broken clips lol. Just worried about breaking some. I know they sell them at parts stores but last time couldn't get the right ones for the life of me
The door clips like these? amzn.to/2QRup8c
@@VampyreX13 yeah those. Thanks for the product link
Where did you buy the polypill foam?
Michaels craft store.
Definitely gonna do this soon. Thanks bro! Also, still waiting on my megaman side graphic. You know who I am now? Lol
Nice! Did you go with any colors like I recommended?
@@VampyreX13 i talked to the guy about it. But as for about a week, he hasn’t called me back just yet. He did wrap my side mirrors and gas cap
@Megaman8707 definitely send me over some pics once it's done!
@@VampyreX13 absolutely!
All I had to do is tighten the screws for the window switches
Unfortunately, my car doors required more than that. Tightening down screws and checking for loose plastic was the first thing I did.
This is very helpful. Did you figure out how to remove the panel through trial and error?
I've taken panels off my previous Toyota cars to install speakers and Dynamat, so I had the basic idea on how to get these panels off.
You have any vibration from your seats, seat belt pillar, and instrument cluster? I've solved the doors but this is beyond annoying to me. Seems like I am the only one with these issues.
Seats: No issues here. Check to make sure the are no wire harnesses from the seatbelt sensor or the amp under the drivers side seat vibrating on something. Maybe check if there are any loose springs.
Seat Belt Pillar: No, but the are definitely wires behind it that can vibrate. I have all mine Zip Tied when I ran wires to the hatch, so I have no issues.
Instrument Cluster: Yes, but it turned out to be some wires I had run behind it. Once I secured them better, the noises stopped.
Now my current noise issue is actually somewhere in the headliner near the passenger sun visor and sunroof switch. I haven't had time to hunt it down, but I'm hoping stuffing a little polyfill up there will solve it since I think it's the headliner itself vibrating against the roof.
Derrick Aquino possibly wind deflector against glass?
@@barbecuetechtips6024 I thought that already and drove while holding the deflector mechanism steady, and I still got the vibration. I know if I tap on the headliner, it will make a noise against the roof of the car. I figure if I stuff some polyfill in place that should make it stop and if it's wires up there, that should silence those as well. As for your issues, just focus on trying to find one at a time instead of all of them at once. I find it a lot easier to track down the issue that way.
Hopefully, you see this. How thick was the weatherstrip foam that you used? 1/2” or thinner?
Under the window switches? 1/4".
Derrick Aquino: I assume you used high density weather stripping? Also, is that 1/4” high or wide? Your cuts look so clean. I just don’t want to get something too wide or tall that would introduce more problems, ya know what I mean? Sorry for all the questions.
@@jiggawuhhjiggawho it was a dense foam that came as an installation part for something I bought. It was 1/8 - 1/4" thick and 1/2" wide... and no problem.
Update: This took away ALL the rattle I was experiencing (Playlist is all Rap/R&B/Hip Hop/Crunk/Hyphy/Drill/Dirty South)... I just used a metal credit card (Stash’s debit card lol) to pop off the window/door lock panel. I disconnected the wires to make it easy to tape on the weatherstripping (Home Depot “M-D Building Products 19/32 in. x 10 ft. EPDM Cellular Rubber Auto and Marine Weatherstrip”... link below for anyone else. Thicker than I cared for, but worked perfectly regardless). Just wanted to say thank you. I bought this car for my kid and he loves it. I was worried about giving it to him with the rattle. You solved that.

Did this mod cut down on any of the road noise, aside from the rattle? I would like to know.
This was primarily to reduce rattles. If you want to cut down on road noise, you need to go further and add Dynamat Xtreme to backside of the door panels. I've done that as well as used acoustic deadening spray on my last project car, and that cut down on the road noise a lot.
Derrick Aquino thanks for replying! I've got a 2015 mag. grey. Gets quite buzzy on long trips up and and down Cali. 😆🖒

Getto but worth it. Nice job
