- Hey everyone! I had a bunch of fun filming this for you guys. This is a first of two videos of luxury apartment tours in the Rincon Hill neighborhood in SF. I specifically even noted how sounds/noises would come from nearby highways because that was what I initially wanted to know if I were to pick a place in Rincon Hill. I also noted the times it took for me to get around places!

New subscriber. I thought your video was very well done. My uncle used to live in Piedmont (the hills of Oakland) and the tour busses would stop at his house to appreciate the view. I remember looking out his floor to ceiling windows at night watching the lights from the cars on the Bay Bridge. Thanks for jogging that memory for me!

It’s depressing , crime, drugs, poop 💩 smell everywhere. Didn’t like at all
Don't let the hype fool you due to the fact that crime is basically legal here. This building is probably the only good place left to live assuming you have 500k-2million laying around. I managed one of the units and admit it was nice but overall shitty city.
Don’t wonne discourage you but just telling my personal opinion. My husband moved to SF 2 months ago I’m still debating

what district do you recommend for someone who wants to be able to walk to cheap eats, but also wants a modern luxury apt (willing to pay up to $2200)
Good question! From my experience, I feel like most modern luxury apartments in SF are concentrated in Rincon Hill, SOMA, and Mission Bay. Depending on what you think is walkable, I would say Rincon Hill / SOMA are more walkable than Mission Bay to different restaurants. I recommend using google maps to map your ideal location to the nearest cluster of restaurants to get a rough idea! :) Hope that answers your question.

@@toekneema I would say the areas are nice to walk around, close to many restaurants (especially to the Italian and Chinese restaurants), but depending on which direction you're going in, the hills can get pretty steep...
No where in SF with 2200 let alone luxury living
LOL, you think you can get a modern luxury apt for $2200/month in San Francisco? A studio maybe, if you're lucky, and then only in an older building in the lower nob hill area, aka "tendernob"

So this video popped up on my RUclips home page (I know not why), I watched it. And I have a few questions and comments.
Why would ANYONE want to pay a huge wad of cash every month to live in a sterile, cold apartment overlooking other architecturally mediocre, sterile apartment buildings in an area dominated by a huge amount of noise from a nearby freeway? And weren't you aware that the apartments you visited are in buildings built on landfill or mud that will be badly damaged in a serious earthquake? Why did you do a video highlighting only apartments that only people earning around $120,000 - $150,000 a year could possibly afford to rent? Were you not aware that you could rent a really nice 2 bedroom apartment almost anywhere outside Rincon Hill for $3,500 or less? (Someone I know just rented a 2 bedroom carpet-free apartment with mutiple bay windows and little street noise, in a Victorian building, that has a living room, dining room with a built-in hardwood dish cabinet and storage drawers, kitchen, and one bathroom AND a backyard AND a laundromat in the building that is located in Noe Valley, one of the most desirable neighborhoods in San Francisco. And that price for that kind of space is not a one-off, even in Noe Valley.)
And the "amenities" you chose to highlight were totally empty!!! I know you filmed this video in the middle of the day -- presumably a work day, but not a single person was enjoying a single one these amenities in both of the buildings you visited. Why? Could it be because the renters -- outside of foreign business people who stay in these buildings when they are in town -- are primarily highly paid tech workers slaving away for at least 12 hours a day to make their corporate bosses ever more richer and don't have the time to enjoy the amenities even if they are working at home, as do most tech workers living in the Bay area?
Did you find an apartment? In what neighborhood? Do you know your neighbors? What's the sound level? And may I ask how much rent are you paying for how many bedrooms, how many rooms, and how much square footage? [I'm sure your viewers would love to know, as do I.]
Oh, and it IS fairly easy to find an apartment in San Francisco with a low and even an almost nonexistent noise level if you choose NOT to live near a freeway or right on a high trafficked street.
Me? I live in San Francisco in a ground floor apartment in a two story Victorian building, built right before the 1906 earthquake, with five rental and three commercial units with a backyard and, in addition, my own private enclosed redwood deck. There is very little street noise because there is only modest car traffic during the day and almost none at night, a small park is kittycorner to the building, two good restaurants are within 100 feet of the building, and lots of neighborhood stores, restaurants and businesses are located within a six block area that begins two blocks from my home.Yes, my apartment is pretty small and it has only one REALLY tiny closet. But i live in a carpet-free rent-controlled apartment with lots of light. Even if I earned enough money to afford to rent one of the apartments highlighted in this video, I would NEVER make a switch to one of those sterile, cold apartments or any similar apartment located not in a neighborhood but in a cluster of glass and steel and concrete buildings of little if any architectural character, quality or value without any NEIGHBORHOOD amenities.
But I DO hope you found an apartment home that makes you happy to be there when you are there. I hope that the building management company will allow you to have one or two cats to ward off the loneliness -- if you are not sharing the space with anyone else -- that you will inevitably feel if you chose to live in a Rincon Hill apartment building full of highly paid tech workers who simply will not care that you exist. And I hope you live in a neighborhood that makes you happy you live there. And maybe one day, if you make more than $1million/year, you might be able to afford a real home in a real neighborhood.
they are kinda blah. I just want to shake some taste into people. Just cause it costs a lot doesn't mean it's good! lol There are so many charming and visually appealing places beyond these sterile high rises.
