We did the Fathers Day Firepower Tour and spent the full day with Tom, His knowledge of the ship in general and firepower operations is so beyond what is portrayed in these short videos its incredible. He is truly dedicated both to preserving the fleet and the tours he gives and it is impossible to not see the passion he has for everything to do with Battleship Cove. Tom if you read this we had a great day with tons interesting conversations (thank you for sharing your father’s day with us) and we will be back to say hello to you and the ships soon!
My father who is living today in Melbourne, Florida served on the Massachusetts in 44-45 in the Pacific Theater. He worked in the powder conveyance area of Turret two on the center gun while at battle stations. My father was in his later teens when on the Mass. and is now 98.
I wondered if you ever considered to reactivate some of the necessary equipment to train the turret and raise the guns. Sort of what Iowa did with turret 3. It would be even more challenging considering that I guess the last time that equipment was used was probably in 1946?
You never announced ANYTHING regarding Hiddensee's condition. You never tried to raise funds or get the public's attention to try to save her. You tried to cover up that she was in bad shape, as if nothing was wrong. Then you scrapped her without a WORD. I am very disappointed in this failure of historic preservation. I hope that in 50 years you dont do the same with Lionfish.
They have always tried to raise money for all of the ships and boat(s) to keep them alive, but it would be nice to hear a response on what transpired and would be nice tonhear more on status of Lionfish given sorry state I saw it in last year and the video released a month or so ago

Hope he is healthy and happy. God bless
In the beginning he said we would get to see what turret one looked like. Was looking forward to that.😢
