    I have a beautiful Meyer Optik Gorlitz 50mm f/2.9 Trioplan in Leica LTM mount. It is a beautiful lens but I am not sure if it is original or made by someone for the LTM mount? If it is not original Meyer made someone sure did a beautiful job making it. Focus registration is perfect and it is a wonderful lens to use on my Leica M digital M Type 262 camera. I have 7 other Meyer Optik lenses, 5 original production from the 1950/1960's and 2 new Meyer Optik Gorlitz made lenses in Leica M mount. Thanks for an interesting video.

      I assume you are referring to a black body "fat bottom" with a "thin top", without proportionality in its size and TRIOPLAN 50 facing top up. It's LTM mount genuine.
      This Meyer, is a great lens in terms of performance and price.

    There are several mistakes here, I will just attend to the two major ones.
    There's no such thing as "Meyer & Gorlitz", the company name was Hugo Meyer, located in the city of Görlitz, near the Polish border. Companies had the habit of stating their location as well, such as Carl Zeiss Jena, Leitz Wetzlar, Ross London, Schneider Kreuznach, etc.
    The front ring with the red and black dots is the auto/manual switch. Set to black it has full manual iris operation, but set to black the iris stays open, the stop-down action is performed automatically by the pin at the back of the lens, operated by a compatible camera.
    I have this lens since some time in the early 1980s; it does not have that technical perfection as pursued by Japanese makers, but has a European look, giving a fullness of volume in its imaging signature that works very well at portraiture.

      Thanks for your comment. I now notice that my lens is missing the pin at 6 o'clock from which it was removed by its previous owner. All my other lenses don't have this pin because they are from the first version of the M42. In this case, it is confirmed that the present lens is the successor of the Primotar 50mm f/2.8. Now, I recall why my lens went into repair to "unlock" the red dot. :x

      . "Set to black it has full manual iris operation, but set to black the iris stays open"...is that correct?

    I have this lens in auto Exakta mount. It is delightful.

      I have one “secret😊for now” in Exacta mount too, because I’m a M42 collector, my preference goes to the last one. This lens is the best value for money and bokeh.

    My pin is stucked...it doesn't do anything...

    • @red_code
      @red_code  Год назад +1

      The pin can be removed if you are using a DSLR. Ask for a lens repairman to do it. The previous owner of my lens have removed it without my notice. Then after, to reach the full bokeh effect is from the front ring were you will see a red and black dot.

      When my lens is switched to both points (black and white), it only sets the aperture and that's it. The transition from the black point to the red does not change the shape of the iris at all. Probably if I remove that pin, I will be able to get that bubble bokeh.

      @@dandanu2526 Don't be alarmed. My two copies of the same lens suffers from the same problem. They went to the lens repairman and everything went fine. Well speaking, the pin helps you switching from Auto to Manual mode when you use a lens adapter ring that push the pin. The front ring controls the full aperture of the iris.
