The ritual is performed on Riku by Terra We also get to know that Ven's heart goes into Sora's making so that Sora could also wield a keyblade Even though we know everything we need in KH1, we have this explained further in BBS I didn't state that BBS explained everything, only that it further developed what we already knew
"Prequel Movie and game I'm gonna look at next" if that's BackCover and then Fragmentary Passage.... CADDY PLEASE you NEED to play Birth By Sleep before Anything Else! It was a part of the 2.5 Collection on PS3, and 1.5+2.5 Collection on PS4! You have the ability and it'll answer questions you've had from this game!
The point was glossed over in KH1 anyways. It's why Riku steals Sora's keyblade. It's covered in BBS, but that's more to do with Ventus than Sora being the chosen one.
I’m pretty sure he also meant birth by sleep with that quote but even then it’s weird that he decided to play the games in the story’s chronological order starting at KH1 when he should’ve played BBS right after KH2.
the reason it was done was to show that, Sora wasnt special because he had the keyblade, he had the keyblade because of who he was. its like someone said in one of the other comments, he is not a hero because of destiny, but because of his actions.
It was explained from the very first Kingdom Hearts that Riku was the original Keyblade Bearer. It's why when you get to Hollow Bastion, he takes your Keyblade, Donald and Goofy abandon you, and you're stuck with just a wooden sword and Beast.
The "The World Ends With You" characters are actually some of the few characters from other square games who act exactly like their original counterparts and seem to come from their original world's. The only other example is Auron in Kingdom Hearts 2, who directly references the events of Final Fantasy 10. Honestly I kinda wish more characters were like that as 9/10 I find the KH versions of the Square Characters lame by comparison to their original. It's still pretty cool TWEWY hasn't been forgotten by Nomura though, I hope the remake does well.
I want the opposite. Change all characters to fit the story better. I actually dislike all the "world ends with you" characters: so many of them looked anorexic
NarakunoHana100 I'm watching all of these knowing I've never played KH. Although I'm not really spoiling myself since everything is so convoluted I forget every plot detail immediately.

you did pretty good on understanding things without playing Birth By Sleep before, and the review was great, I also liked the drop mechanic, hope you enjoy BBS.
You got some stuff in the plot wrong, but I can easily forgive that. KH has a lot to remember. I am glad you are liking the plot, despite how dumb it can get.
It was explained in the very first game that the keyblade was meant for Riku.It appeared when Riku was falling into Darkness on Destiny Island and therefore went to Sora but it didn't become his until he confronted Riku at Hollow Bastien. The reason he could wield it when it wasn't his and it would come back to him if someone like Leon took it is supposed to be explained by Birth by Sleep, though it's kind of an asspull.
Riku being the true chosen guy for the keyblade was a big plot point in KH1, thats why he was able to temporarily "reclaim" it in Hollow bastion near the end
i remember very clearly that its in the first game that its explained that sora wasnt the chosen one for the keyblade. but seriously with the convoluted plot this games have i dont blame him for forgetting something like that.
Isn't Riku being the chosen one actually KH1 plot? He even rips the keyblade from Sora in an instant just by calling it to him, only later losing it because of the power of light, and Darkness controlling Riku.
It was confirmed that Riku was the chosen wielder of the Keyblade in the first game. Remember when he took the Keyblade from Sora in Hollow Bastion and Sora was stuck using the wooden sword?
The more I think about Xeanort forming Organization 13 and wants to fill it with copies of himself, the more it sounds stupid and makes me chuckle "Ohh hey everyone else is stupid so lets just make copies of myself, Ahh great idea Xeanort, Thank you Xeanort but where is Xeanort, I'm here, No I mean the other Xeanort,, Hes in the library, Ohh god not that Xeanort the other Xeanort!, WHICH XEANORT?, THE YOUNG ONE !, Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down"
The thing about Sora not being the keyblades chosen one was actually mentioned in the first game, and elaborated on in Birth by Sleep. It was revealed when Sora entered Hollow Bastion and Riku took his keyblade, and when Terra talked with Riku in Birth by Sleep.
It's a small detail, but it actually mentions somewhere in the journal of KH1 that Riku was the keyblade's first choice, but when darkness took hold in his heart it chose Sora instead. Given the later revelation that Sora's heart harbors Ventus', which is literally 100% light, that REALLY says a lot about how pure Riku's heart was initially. If anyone could dive into the darkness and come back from it, it's him.
Why. Whywhywhywhywhy. Playing Re:Coded and 358/2 Days when you did, that's okay, it doesn't hurt much of anything. But WHY did you play DDD before BBS?! Playing this first just means that you understand so much less.
They explained the Keyblade chose Riku in the very first game. Remember in Hollow Bastion, when Riku was able to take the Keyblade from Sora? There was a whole big reveal about how Sora wasn't the one chosen.
KH1 all ready explained that Sora was originally not the keyblade's chosen one. Plus the "people we've never seen before" they were in Birth by Sleep. A game that was released back in 2010
@@shizuwolf I was wondering about that too lol. I had literally just gotten done replaying that part when I watched this video and was like... did I miss something? xD
Majora’s Mask gives you oodles of time to get things done, Dream Drop distance does not. Granted you can extend the time you play as a specific protagonist via Items, but this still makes me feel rushed to accomplish a task, I don’t really want to be rushed in a video game
majoras mask is actually less friendly than 3d. in mm,you hsve to restart everything and only have some teleportpoints ready, but in 3d nothing is lost(except for the dropbonuses which wouldnt even exist is the system wasnt there),as you can just drop back instantly.
Caddy the thing about Riku being the one truly chosen by the keyblade was in the very first game. Riku even steals it back from Sora for a while. Nomura has elaborated on it more in interviews outside of the game but it was definitely there
The keyblade choosing Riku first was mentioned in KH1 when he took it temporarily in Hollow Bastion. It rejected Riku when he gave in to the darkness and he eventually got his own when he got his shit together
Sora not being the chosen one for the keyblade was explained in Kingdom hearts 1. Remember that Riku took the keyblade back from sora in Hollow Bastion? It's just that the keyblade was turned away from Riku thanks to his weak heart relying on darkness for everything.
You mentioned "prequel games" (plural) and with all the comments here expressing confusion, I'm sure you'll get to Birth by Sleep soon. Just be careful when you do. You will see Aqua and fall in love.
Um, the detail about the keyblade originally being meant for Riku was revealed way back in the first game. Also the reason the other former organization 13 members didn't attack Leah is that becoming normal again affected everything, including their motivations. In other words, the fact that Axel defeated their Nobody halves no longer mattered.
8:01 the “Riku was supposed to inherit the Keyblade” was kind of a plot twist at the end of the first half of KH. It’s explained as to why Riku was supposed to inherit the Keyblade in BBS but from what I can remember; this revelation doesn’t really impact the story outside KH1. At the very least it explains why Riku has Way to the Dawn/can use a Keyblade at all in KH2 but that’s it really.
No mate he really isn't. Yes, he's already mentioned he will be doing back cover. However he has completely skipped Birth by sleep and fragment passage. Notice he didn't have a clue who Ventus, Terra and Aqua are?
The part about Riku being the original intended owner of the Keyblade was shown in the first game in Hollow Bastion during that section when Sora loses it. I can understand why you may not remember that, being very busy and all. xD
Dang... that's a lot of people asking why this wasn't BBS ( it doesn't matter anyway since BBS is a prequel anyway doods.) Edit: 7:50 ouch.... well.... minor details dood.
It does matter though. BBS is a prequel yes, but it was released before DDD and has a ton of important plot details that DDD builds on. His confusions in here (as well as calling Ven, Terra, and Aqua "characters that haven't shown up before") would have been completely avoided if he'd played BBS first
I meant "it doesn't matter that he play DDD first since he WILL play BBS anyway" as a response to the immense amount of people asking why this video wasn't BBS dood. and cute LPFan dood.
I'm just wondering how many people are going to correct Caddy that it was established in KH1 that Riku was the keyblade's chosen one when you reach Hollow Bastion. Will probably only be a fraction compared to people bringing up Birth by Sleep
Rikku has been the keyblade's chosen one since the beginning. Hence the reason he was able to take it from Sora in the first game. Only reason it ended up with Sora was because Rikku chose the darkness so it just went to Sora instead.
7:55-8:05 Sora not being the Keyblade's true, or rather original, chosen one was explicitly stated in Kh1. In fact, there's an entire segment when the Riku told Sora this and proved it by claiming his Keyblade and convinced Donald and Goofy to abandon him. Sora had to go through a whole section of Hollow Bastion w/o or his friends. Furthermore, then Birth by Sleep even showed the moment where Riku was chosen to be the successor of the keyblade, should it's current wielder fall in battle.
By the way, in KH1 riku was supposed to be the keyblade wielder instead of sora, but when riku gave in to the darkness on destiny islands so it went to sora instead
The fact that Riku is the actual chosen one is mentioned in KH1 and reinforced by Birth By Sleep. Other than that, great review Caddy! I'm really ejoying this kingdom hearts review series! Do you also plan to come back to Birth By Sleep? Unfortunately that's another important one to play to be ready for KH3.
Sorry for leaving like 3 comments, but the 'riku is the chosen one' thing is from the end of kingdom hearts one, its the reason he is able to take the keyblade from sora
The part about Riku being chosen and not sora is explained in Birth by Sleep. Birth by sleep is fantastic and i really hope you get around to reviewing it, especially since you love the lvoice of xehanort.
It's revealed that Riku was the chosen Keyblade wielder in the first game. It's explained when you go to Hallow Bastion for the first time and Riku takes the Keyblade from Sora. Sora manages to get it back because of the strength of his heart vs Riku's. Also you should play Birth By Sleep, it shows the story of three characters you haven't seen.
I think the original and BBS both go into why Riku was to get a keyblade a little bit. Also I loved this game a lot. The combat command system is very similar to BBS both of which I enjoyed, the flowmotion was really fun to use imo, and the dreameater system let me make a giant neon t rex I could ride around on. Though the item flick mechanic in the PS4 version I liked less there since there was an issue(dont know if it was fixed or not) where because of the button combo used would a lot of the time end up using up the command you were on. Also the day order could get mixed up on the 3DS version which made finding certain special monsters in some worlds pretty annoying. Also this is a game where balloon is the most broken spell around and I love that
9:24 if you wanna turn off free flow you can actually do that in the abilities, and if there's a certain part of it you dislike and others you like, you can turn off only that part
I gotta say, your review of this game is so unique from every other one I've seen. I've never heard anyone say that they "liked" the drop system, Ansem II Boss, or even compliment the Dream Eaters in any fashion. I thought I was the only one who liked those systems! Yes, they have their flaws, but I'm glad to see another reviewer have opinions that are similar. I also think that from a casual perspective, you went way overboard on the dream eaters. Yes, you made a really great set of buddies, but at least from my experience, the minimum effort you need is to feed them, occasionally pet, and then be diligent in getting chests for the materials you need for the dream eaters with useful skills. Anyway, great review; thanks for sharing your thoughts! Please be certain you play BBS before the other prequel games. I recommend the following order: BBS -> X Back Cover -> 0.2. After those games, just read a synopsis on the story in Union X (the mobile game) and you're good to go for KH3 :)
7:50 Caddy, you goober. It mentioned way back in KH1, almost as soon as Sora and friends arrive at hollow bastion the first time. The keyblade would have gone to Riku, but Sora got it first. Also, it's referenced to again in Birth by Sleep, when Terra and Aqua each go on separate trips to Destiny Islands. Also, why do you keep skipping Birth By Sleep?
7:57 this plot point is revealed in KH1 so yeah you kinda should know it, that said it is kind of misleading but the origin of this does indeed get light shed on it in the events of Birth By Sleep
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep explains a lot of the stuff in Kingdom Hearts, Chain of Memories, and 2 that didn't make much sense a whole lot better, and does the deck system you used in this game a lot better with also easier ability using/ obtaining that not as annoying, and different types of game play mechanics also mostly exclusive to that game also man.
Sora not being the chosen one by the keyblade is a thing that we get to know since the very first game and is explained better in BBS
Explained better how? All we see in BBS is you know, doing you know with Riku instead of Sora. Virtually everything else is explained in KH1
The ritual is performed on Riku by Terra
We also get to know that Ven's heart goes into Sora's making so that Sora could also wield a keyblade
Even though we know everything we need in KH1, we have this explained further in BBS
I didn't state that BBS explained everything, only that it further developed what we already knew
it also sort of explains why Roxas (Sora's nobody) looks like Ven
LordIron and why ventanitas (screw that name) looks like sora.

If I'm not mistaken it's revealed in the original Kingdom Hearts that Riku was supposed to be the chosen one when Sora runs into him at Hollow Baston
Vorance Surves This is correct. Reason why Goofy and Donald went with Riku for a bit, making Sora stuck with Beast, a wooden sword and his magic.
Vorance Surves I still hate that twist to this day
the reason it was done was to show that, Sora wasnt special because he had the keyblade, he had the keyblade because of who he was.

Ad ends at 0:48, lads
Riku being the true chosen guy for the keyblade was a big plot point in KH1, thats why he was able to temporarily "reclaim" it in Hollow bastion near the end
i remember very clearly that its in the first game that its explained that sora wasnt the chosen one for the keyblade. but seriously with the convoluted plot this games have i dont blame him for forgetting something like that.
Why in the world did you play this before Birth by Sleep? It would've answered a lot of questions you had here since you're supposed to play it first
Riku being the original keyblade's chosen is answered it Birth By Sleep.
This is also the first game where the Command Deck is used.
Hope this helps!
ButtPirate it was actually already answered in the first game
@@xAssassin24 It was mentioned in KH1, but not really explained at all.
Isn't Riku being the chosen one actually KH1 plot? He even rips the keyblade from Sora in an instant just by calling it to him, only later losing it because of the power of light, and Darkness controlling Riku.
The Kingdom Hearts pain-train never stops. Keep riding it to the end Caddy. I know I will.
It was confirmed that Riku was the chosen wielder of the Keyblade in the first game. Remember when he took the Keyblade from Sora in Hollow Bastion and Sora was stuck using the wooden sword?
The more I think about Xeanort forming Organization 13 and wants to fill it with copies of himself, the more it sounds stupid and makes me chuckle
"Ohh hey everyone else is stupid so lets just make copies of myself, Ahh great idea Xeanort, Thank you Xeanort but where is Xeanort, I'm here, No I mean the other Xeanort,, Hes in the library, Ohh god not that Xeanort the other Xeanort!, WHICH XEANORT?, THE YOUNG ONE !, Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down"
The thing about Sora not being the keyblades chosen one was actually mentioned in the first game, and elaborated on in Birth by Sleep.
It was revealed when Sora entered Hollow Bastion and Riku took his keyblade, and when Terra talked with Riku in Birth by Sleep.
Alright!
First
Clemps released his kh2 review and now caddy did his.
Two limy nerds for the price of one˜!
Playing this first just means that you understand so much less.
aneonfoxtribute He has come so far yet still understands nothing.
Those who knows nothing, can understand nothing
xAssassin24 To Gain is to lose, to lose is to gain anew or whatever Marluxia says.
It is to gain is to lose, to lose is to find.
They explained the Keyblade chose Riku in the very first game. Remember in Hollow Bastion, when Riku was able to take the Keyblade from Sora? There was a whole big reveal about how Sora wasn't the one chosen.
You threw yourself into a blender, didn't you? Everyone knows not to jump into DDD before anything else.
play kh3 before ddd because
FUCKING
TIME
TRAVEL
WHY
SQUARE
KH1 all ready explained that Sora was originally not the keyblade's chosen one. Plus the "people we've never seen before" they were in Birth by Sleep. A game that was released back in 2010
About the riku is the real successor of the keyblade it was said in kh1 and bbs but i guess you didn't notice
Sora not being the keyblades chosen one was mentioned in KH1 caddy. Riku/Ansem tells sora in hollow bastion leaving sora with a wooden sword
since when did maleficent say she was working with xehanort?
Ryan Law he didn’t play BBS so he probably misinterpreted what she meant
@@shizuwolf I was wondering about that too lol. I had literally just gotten done replaying that part when I watched this video and was like... did I miss something? xD
The fact that Sora wasn't the original chosen Keyblade wielder was mentioned in both KH1 and Birth by Sleep
Nomura has elaborated on it more in interviews outside of the game but it was definitely there
Caddy. go play The World ends with you: Final Remix on the Switch!
will be a great way to enjoy the game :)
The keyblade choosing Riku first was mentioned in KH1 when he took it temporarily in Hollow Bastion. It rejected Riku when he gave in to the darkness and he eventually got his own when he got his shit together
Glad I didn’t have to hear more complaints about the time travel. And I too love the Drop mechanic. It’s so fun!
You need to play Birth by Sleep!!
Riku being the chosen one for the keyblade was stated all the way back in KH1 at Hollow Bastion world.
DARKNESS !!!
Nathaniel Foga X - BLADE
Nathaniel Foga -X- Blade
Sora not being the chosen one for the keyblade was explained in Kingdom hearts 1. Remember that Riku took the keyblade back from sora in Hollow Bastion? It's just that the keyblade was turned away from Riku thanks to his weak heart relying on darkness for everything.
THANK YOU!!!
You mentioned "prequel games" (plural) and with all the comments here expressing confusion, I'm sure you'll get to Birth by Sleep soon. Just be careful when you do. You will see Aqua and fall in love.
He'll see Aqua and wonder why she *CONSTANTLY.TALKS.IN.MONOTONE*
If Terra's monotone doesn't distract him first.
terra's problem isn't his voice actor.
terra's problem is just that's he dumb.
I had kinda reasoned that they were glad to be human again, so the fact that Lea killed them for this to happen was kinda forgiven xD
Hears the word "Freerunning"
*FLOWMOTION*
8:01 the “Riku was supposed to inherit the Keyblade” was kind of a plot twist at the end of the first half of KH. It’s explained as to why Riku was supposed to inherit the Keyblade in BBS but from what I can remember; this revelation doesn’t really impact the story outside KH1. At the very least it explains why Riku has Way to the Dawn/can use a Keyblade at all in KH2 but that’s it really.
This is a plot point people seem to forget a lot.
So Apparently this is better than Detroit: become human by 2 points
obi oki Yep
For Caddy's tastes, yeah lol.
just to make clear i am not saying that this game is bad i quite liked it but i thought that Detroit was better than this in my opinion
You're such a fair and entertaining reviewer, really great hearing your KH perspectives and eager to hear what you have to say about Birth by Sleep.
Cant help but laugh at how Caddy thinks he's nearly covered everything.
David Keymer Actually he is pretty caught up.
No mate he really isn't. Yes, he's already mentioned he will be doing back cover. However he has completely skipped Birth by sleep and fragment passage. Notice he didn't have a clue who Ventus, Terra and Aqua are?
he skipped bbs.but he didnt 0.2 yet since its after 3d on the collections.
point still stands. Bbs is essential for kh3
He said he’s eventually going to get to every game
The part about Riku being the original intended owner of the Keyblade was shown in the first game in Hollow Bastion during that section when Sora loses it.
I can understand why you may not remember that, being very busy and all. xD
Dang... that's a lot of people asking why this wasn't BBS ( it doesn't matter anyway since BBS is a prequel anyway doods.)
Edit: 7:50 ouch.... well.... minor details dood.
it may be a prequel but its totally necessary to understand a lot of things. i say its more important than coded anyday
because coded is a set up game for DDD....
It does matter though. BBS is a prequel yes, but it was released before DDD and has a ton of important plot details that DDD builds on. His confusions in here (as well as calling Ven, Terra, and Aqua "characters that haven't shown up before") would have been completely avoided if he'd played BBS first
Just another dood it being a prequel doesnt automaticly mean it doesnt matter plip
Had to stop halfway to mention this, but it's stated multiple times in the first game that it was always Riku's keyblade that Sora first recieved.
Caddy they explain that Riku was supposed to be the chosen one in the first game. You know that first point in Hollow Bastion in the first game.
Riku being the chosen one of the Keyblade was explained in Kingdom Hearts 1.
Riku being the one who was really chosen by the keyblade was part of Kingdom Hearts 1.
You're one of the few youtubers for whom I'm happy their channel is going great.
7:50 it's a plot point in kingdom hearts 1 riku takes the keyblade from sora at the beginning of Hollow Bastion
"Characters we've never seen before."
>BBS Characters
>re:coded released after BBS
WE'VE SEEN THEM BEFORE
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep explains a lot of the stuff in Kingdom Hearts, Chain of Memories, and 2 that didn't make much sense a whole lot better, and does the deck system you used in this game a lot better with also easier ability using/ obtaining that not as annoying, and different types of game play mechanics also mostly exclusive to that game also man.
