    Nice find. Before you replace the bed wood, paint the rusty metal with POR-15 rust sealer. Then primer and paint over it. I did this on my 1952 F1. It will never rust. Paint the under side of the cab floors, and get POR-15 into every nook and cranny you can possibly reach. Paint the under side of both doors, and all four fenders. I've had my truck since 1980 and it has not rusted one bit since I did this. That's 41 years so far. It stays outside 24/7/365. And I live in New Jersey. Good luck with your project, and keep those videos coming.

    Cool truck.....That 223 cu inch OHV six is a gutless wonder. If you can locate and install a later-model mid-1960s era 240 (which later became a 300 cu inch in truck applications), it will make for greater driving pleasure for your F-1. Have fun with your restoration build. Always glad to see younger folks like you taking an interest in resurrecting and preserving vintage American iron.

    I have a '58 Ford Panel Truck and it has the inline 6 engine like that with the glass bowl Holley carb. Really great truck you have there. If that really is house paint you can clean it off with some soapy SOS pads and then polish up the original paint. These old trucks are wonderful. You can check out the one on my channel. I dug the '58 out off a farm where it had sat for 40 years. I would def upgrade the brakes on it, the kits aren't much and you'll get discs up front and a dual master cyl. which will make it much safer. Check out Speedwaymotors for those.

    the door handles on the inside it locks the door and back down unlocks the door. The wood on the side is factory for 1952 ford f1 and is the first year for it. Oak stained is great and came from the factory.Lmc truck is a good place to find parts.

    The truck was probably not painted with house paint it was very common to use a paintbrush to paint your cars she said if using a paint gun I've owned several trucks what are like this it threw me off at first I suggest running diesel oil in your motor they used to run oil with zinc in it and it can cause sludge in your motor and can make your oil ports clogged up and throw bearings and rods the diesel oil just cleans your motor Hangout run it a couple times with the diesel oil and then change the oil with some high mileage motor oil

    • @OurLittleNest
      @OurLittleNest  3 года назад

  • @billywhite4190

    On the front of the hood the truck is a FORD, farther on the header panel it says FOR. Somewhere along the way the R fell off or was removed for some reason and not reattached. Beginning in 1949 wasn't this truck the first generation of the F-1 pickup. The 1952 front was restyled from the first year. The grill is wider and the headlights are farther apart. For 1953 the F-1 one got a new larger cab. The styling changes were minimal through 1956. The 1957 was all new and the F-1 was denied F-100. I think that all this is correct. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. This is all form the top of my head.

    I don't know if it's available/grown in the US, but I would recommend Tallowood for the tray. It's a really oily, hard, durable timber that is ideal for being exposed to the elements, and finished it would be a pale golden colour which would look great with the minty green!

    You can sometimes use easy off oven cleaner on eak (like house paint) repaints in small sections and uncover the tough original paint. The fume free easy off and scotch "brite" pads, then rinse it.
    Try it. Be careful (gloves and goggles). As dor the radio? There are companies making modetn stereos that go in that spot and no cutting up.the dash. You need to cnvert to 12 volt though but that is a great upgrade anyway. Brighter lights, Ability to jump start it, etc

    • @billywird
      @billywird Год назад

      Yes that could very well be, Either the overhead valve six was a later replacement engine or the truck could have been that way from the factory. Some of the comments on this engine state that the OHV six came out in 52 and of course 53 was the last year for the flathead V8. There is nothing set in stone as to what the manufacturers did making running changes on vehicles from year to year. Back in the day when one went to get parts for a vehicle from the dealer, having the serial number (now called the VIN number) helped in getting the correct part, and that was only accurate if the vehicle had the engine and running gear that it originally came with (back in the old days parts stores did not have a lot of manufacturer specific parts and the dealer was the only place to get them). In big trucks and farm tractors for instance having the serial number is paramount as manufacturers made running changes and the serial number would match up the vehicle with the record of manufacture (yes this information was available long before this tuff was computerized). International trucks would make a parts store clerk cringe as they were specific to the serial number (or VIN number). But if you go into the International dealer location the last eight digits of the VIN number will get you the right part for your truck. In fact that is the first thing the parts man asks for is the VIN number. If not he is wasting his time trying to get the right part for the customer.
