You could turn on the radio and hear R&B, funk, early hip-hop, new wave, punk and post-punk, hard rock, metal, 2nd wave ska, reggae, country rock, blues, folk, house, 50's and 60's revivalism, college rock, sophisticated pop like Sade, Latin freestyle, world music, and a lot more...all in the same programming block. I can't imagine turning on the radio today and hearing Jody Watley, Duran Duran, Sade, Eddy Grant, George Michael, and Janet Jackson back to back, but in the 80's that kind of thing happened all the time!
