OMG It is pretty simple description without many many details and also you have so nice accent which is clearly understandable. I like the video and WATCH too!
Here's another reason why I might go for this watch. Today I looked at the Casio Edifice EFV-540D-1A. It has a chronograph function but I have a hard time seeing the 24-Hr dial. I own a Seiko SBTR-027, featuring a tachymeter. I have no problem reading its smaller dials, even though it's slightly smaller than the EFV-540D.
Thank you Dave! Casio makes quality timepieces no matter what the product line I think. My favorite one is the Casio EQB900DB-2A. Close to what you are reviewing, just a little more bells and whistles.
Does it have the autolight function only when its dark? My solar g shock 9300 has it and i find it extremely usefull because when its exposed to light it doesnt turn on the autolight
I have a problem and i need a little help. I puchased this watch and can no longer connect it to the phone. The first time I succeeded. Now he tells me to try again and the clock shows me (ERROR) Need to be reset in any way? I would like to know how. I am waiting for an answer. Thank you.
Casio Edifice customer service is excellent: Find their 800 number on the Web site and call them up. I used their service once when I couldn't get one of my other watches to switch timezones and they were patient and talked me through every step needed.
good luck on your channel. you explain in great details . i subscribe. keep it up dave. btw do more watch reviews even smart watch. (i saw you not exited about smart watchs)
Greeting!! I have a question. When taken out of the box for the first time, how much time do you need to charge the watch for it to start working? Because I have the watch I have charged it for more than 10 hours now out of which 3+ hours was in direct sunlight and the remaining in daylight. The watch does show the charging indicator but the hands are not moving nor is it connecting to the phone. When I contacted the authorised online seller from whom I purchased the watch from said since it being a tough solar you need to charge it a minimum of 24-48 hours for the first time use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you might have one that's broken or a counterfeit one: Mine worked right out of the box and I never worry about charging in in sunlight. I just wear it. :-)
@@AskDaveTaylor Thank you for the reply. But I spoke with Casio India exec and confirmed regarding the authenticity as I too had doubts regarding the watch being an original one but everything was in order and I did receive a genuine product. What he told me was if the watch is packed up it does require sometime to charge up the batteries and I did keep it under a lamp for an hour or so(in addition to the above charge time in daylight) and the watch started up with about 80% battery as checked on the phone app. So all in all the watch working perfectly fine now.
Dave Taylor, well I finally bought the ECB-900 I could swap its module with my ecb-500 but the buttons of the 900 are a bit longer so the module of the 500 was squeezed and couldn’t operate as they should.. thickness was also a problem but I guess it could be fixed by swapping the hour marker ring.
@@AskDaveTaylor no sir ....i dont have a dozens edifice , this will probably be My first expensive watch ...my concern is that this eas500db 1q is quite old as per some RUclips videos ...i think this is not a big problem for service if needed ...so can i go for it or go for a new model...?
I don't know. I would check with Casio. I will say that I have had Edifice watches for years and as long as I occasionally put them in direct sunlight for a bit, they work great. [for those that are solar powered, of couse]
Well, when I measure between the lugs on the edge, the narrow portion of the band is about 0.5in which is 12mm. So... I suspect I'm measuring it wrong. :-)
One more question...fluctuate when buying between ecb 800 and ecb 900, but based on experience, can you recommend which one is more worth buying? I find them both quite similar...Thank you for your reply. Greetings from Slovenia!
Anyway Prefer leather or silicon, no muck around taking it to a jeweler to get links out or mucking round, A leather or slicon strap no hassles, get the watch and fits snuggly. I always buy watches with either leather band or silicon
Dave and everyone: Why is this watch so inexpensive?? I bought my first Casio Edifice (EQS-500) a few years ago, and it has half the functions and cost twice as much. And all other Bluetooth watches from Casio cost $300 or more. I know other 2019 Bluetooth watches are thinner and lighter, but even some of those don't have the features this has. I'd be interested to hear what others think about Casio's decision to offer such an inexpensive Bluetooth Edifice.
It's less expensive as they continue to make progress on lowering the cost of their flagship products. A trend with all electronics and a good one considering how expensive "the first" of so many devices have been (laptop, PC, bluetooth headphones, smartphones, etc)
@@AskDaveTaylor Thank you for the reply, Dave. I understand time and experience brings down the price of tech, but shouldn't that effect the price of other similar Casio models as well, especially models in the same line? For example, the EQB900DB is still listed on Casio's and Macy's website for $320 (MSRP). This review's ECB900DB is listed at both websites for $200 (MSRP). They both have very similar features (bluetooth, stopwatch, timer, alarm). I think the EQB900DB is only thinner and lighter. Why is it still $120 more than the ECB900DB?
Nice watch. Bought it. Arrived today, from Amazon, either broken or dead. Hopefully, it's just dead. Any suggestions on how best, or how long, to charge the watch? Yes, I have a solar watch charging light. Do they really work? So far, I have to admit, I'm disappointed. This is now listed at $210.00 on Amazon. I'm sure you can understand my disappointment. $210 suddenly becomes A LOT to pay for a dead (Hopefully not broken.) watch. Sorry if my comment is a downer. But, hey, it's honest. Buyer beware. Time (No pun intended) will tell, I guess. Meanwhile we remain hopeful. I do like the watch. It seems fantastic, if I can get it to work.
@@AskDaveTaylor After about 7 or 8 hours on the watch charger, the watch just started running somewhere within the last 30 minutes. It is likely not fully charged yet. I will leave it on the charger several more hours, checking frequently, then set it. Thank you, very much, for your response, advice, and encouragement.
@@AskDaveTaylor I'm sure I will enjoy it. Thank you, again. Kudos, as well, to Casio on their Edifice line. When I saw my watch was running, I took the opportunity to set it. This Edifice was, hands down, the easiest experience of setting a watch of this type that I have EVER had! Bravo!

Fantastic review mate!
more up close shots of the watches please!
Great review, very honest and detailed, just ordered one will let you know how i get on , Cheers my friend
Brilliant excellent watch, thanks for your kind feedback
Please provide close-up shots in future videos
I have a close-up shot in the first 30 seconds. What did you seek that's different?
Really? You think its good to do a review at distance for most of the time?
Sounds like you'd prefer a video that's just a closeup of the watch. Probably could find that on the Casio site, actually...
Sounds like you don't want to listen to your viewers?
Sounds like I am listening to my viewers, actually. :-)
Really liked your way of talking about product.... Subscibed ... Looking forward to more amazing content.
Is the digital display bright and easy to read in normal light conditions.

Great review. I need to see how it compares with ECB-800.
Looks like the first Edifice watch with digital display elements
The slightly older EFA-121D-1AVEF and EFA-120D-1AVEF had that feature too. But they lack BT and solar...
Nice presentation. Thanks.

Hi Dave, hi everyone, would you mind tell if the 5427 (ecb-500) mechanism can be installed in the ecb-900 case (after removing its 5582 mechanism)?
No idea, actually. Personally, I wouldn't be tearing this watch apart to put in a different mechanism :-)

What will be a good pick on 2020 either this model or the eqs500db 1a1 ? Please reply .
As someone who owns almost a dozen Edifice watches, I would say you can't go wrong with either! :-)

I have infomation Casio edifice not water resistance,I hope not.
great
What is your wrist size?
Nice watch....i owned one
I perfer leather or slicon bands as they are a better fit. Steel bands dont always fit well even with links taken out
True, but most metal bands have tiny adjustments you can make on the buckle itself, a pin you can move a mm or two for a better fit.
Anyway Prefer leather or silicon, no muck around taking it to a jeweler to get links out or mucking round, A leather or slicon strap no hassles, get the watch and fits snuggly. I always buy watches with either leather band or silicon
Everything is good, except that I have never felt the gravity can be a problem...
Gravity? I don't understand your comment.
@@AskDaveTaylor It's just too heavy... Lol
