I also started indoor racing 12th scale in the 90’s and back then batteries were everything. These days it’s a lot more even and almost anyone, if they can drive can be competitive.
I also done 12th scale indoor racing. Very technical racing back then. Used Green tyre compound plus the tyre additive. Batteries back then used to be saddle packs 3 on each side. Loved it. Such fun.
That's what this hobby is all about....having fun. I have just started to get into carpet oval racing and it is a whole diff world for sure. Wish I lived closer....would love to race with you guys. Love your vids....you having a blast shows just how it is supposed to be.
Loved seeing this. Gt12 racing is an Ace sport. Gt12 cars are essentially - like the name says - GT electric cars in their own right, just littler than the big ones. They look simple but are highly tunable. Anyone who fancies taking up the sport, I recommend. There's a technical learning curve that comes with it that's enjoyable but isn't daunting. An older car isn't going to be uncompetitive. You can pick up a second hand 1s speed controller, 13.5t motor and transponder on the likes of ebay if you're on a budget and a 1s lipo can be had pretty cheap. You can still have all the bashers you want and just keep the gt12 for race days. I had never driven a proper rc race car before I had a shot of one at my local gt12 club earlier in the year. A few weeks later I got a used Schumacher Atom and was on my way.
Great to finally see that GT12 on the channel. You could buy a new Schumacher Atom 2 and have a set up sheet provided by the other local Schumacher racers or even the main designer (Andy Murray) could help you set it up. Would love to see more GT12 or any other carpet pan car racing on the channel. Maybe even try the Schumacher LMPs some time, even faster on the same sort of basic concept design.
Hey Kev your definitely a talented track driver. It's more difficult than it looks and your right there with the champ even leading the race at some points so cheers to you
Truth is he got into the hobby racing 10th scale. He's got more experience them he admits, although I know this from him admitting it on his chanel haha. .
Brother myself and the whole world just love what you do, can't believe people wouldn't subscribe everything you posts is always a hoot! Thanks for always being yourself and all you do for the rc community
you are one of those youtubers that ive seen every video, and they are all good, and i have my own rc cars (monster arrma senton) and some crawlers and big boat and your videos are just fun to watch, love them!
I’ve binged on your content so much Kevin, and because of that, at 44 I’ve now bought a Traxxas Slash 2WD which has been a dream rc car for a long time, plus a Tamiya mini with a brushless upgrade, and my old Hornet and Super Hornets will be getting brushless upgrades, and I’m so tempted to buy one of those minis after seeing your Hellcat. I’ve only got a few older Chinese rc cars now, but they’re so much better than what was around when I was a kid!!
Still killin it man!! You show that you arent always the best, but you enjoy the journey to getting better and shooting for the top. Good on ya. I check your reviews before i buy any rc, and ive only disagreed with you once on my opinion on a certain rc!! Keep up the good work and thanks for this vid!!
I have one of those Ekster wallets, extremely nice, a flat wallet that's still soft in the pocket and it was 25 bucks. Ridge wallets are like 100 and scratch your phone. Glad to see you getting great sponsors. Amazing to see that blown up Mini Z in action.
The smile fades a touch when you mention winning lol... happiness and importance are natural antagonists... don't be tempted by your skills into caring who wins - or so the soapbox told me... 😉
I am subscribed and I smashed that bell so I don't miss these epic videos! Good effort on the track Kev! I reckon you could just swap the motor to something that's not going to burn up in one heat. Heat = Inefficiency = Less Power = Bad Lap Times.
Looks bit like a brca 1/12th class they ran back in the day. Ran more of the le man's body's though. They was quick when we used to use brushed motors and nicad/nickles😂👍
It’s crazy how the tech has moved on. Back in the 80’s when I was a kid, we couldn’t afford a Hornet, or Grasshopper or a Frog, so my rc was from Kmart, a Nikki Black Cat that ate AA batteries like nothing else, so when I got a bit older I bought a Hornet and Super Hornet, and now my cheapest Chinese brushless buggy that cost less than the Hornet absolutely smokes the poor old dear. I even had a hotted up Grasshopper for a while and they just are not fast lol. It’s still fun though. Sometimes it feels like I deliberately crash so I can pull the car down and add more goodness to them lol.
Gt12 is an awesome sport. You're spot on. The class is BRCA affiliated and was born from the likes of Mardaves. GT12s have 13.5 turn brushless motors, and the 1s lipo was originally designed to compete with the 6 volt nimhs. It really is a great hobby and if you miss racing I thoroughly recommend getting into it.
I have the atom2 with the steel chassis’s i thought it would be a cheap way to get I to indoor carpet racing. I was faster than the house cars people could rent but everyone else was running a carbon fiber chassis and had even drilled holes to get it down to the min weight. Mine, box stock, was 30% heavier and 2-3 SECONDS slower than everyone else. I put it on an asphalt track and was able to beat it with Nikko buggies from the 80s and a cheap TT02. I took those to my local carpet track and they didn’t work at all! Traction rolling everywhere. You’re doing awesome Kev and I look forward to seeing you in the A with Murray!
Atom 2's with a carbon chassis are all under the legal weight. Racers typically require the 120g mid weight and a 35g lipo weight, then another 10-50grams depending on electrics weight to meet 950g. They're designed to run at 950grams. Anyone running them lighter are not running them as they're intended to be
I started watching the channel for the helicopters, I got bored of playing with cars and planes. I still watch to see what Kevin is going to break next.
On the M17, all you need to do is go back to where it highlights the name in white/red, then use the little dial wheel to go to where it says 'change' and hit the white dot in the middle of the touch pad. Done!
Hey my friend I haven't made a comment in a long time however, I used to race RC 12i rc12ie' one was carbon fiber based one was not however they had the old nickel cadmium the style batteries in a 4 cell, or 6cell configuration and those were 12 scale same kind of chassis same kind of basic suspension some have an early triangulated micro shock system on the rear motor pod! 10th and 12th scale as well. Many other us manufacturers did the same thing from this'80s through the 90s! Love the video thank you
I just got a Maxx V2 after a long time of debating it. Wish you would do more videos on it. But, you have a lot to do so I will wait! I love it so far. Have only ran it on 3s though.
Not gonna lie that looks hard lol good driving kev for real o would have gotten kicked out for not making turns left and right I’m not ready for that yet it’s fun to watch you tho.❤️❤️
wow, Kevin, your workshop is actually a playground, lol, if you don't have some there, send them to me, lol, congratulations on the experiences and showing us....
love the race vids. Kev 👍🏻. I've had several 1/10 pan cars. Very fun racing. I won the 2003 dirt oval points championship at Coppers RC in VA. Fastest dirt oval on the east coast. I've raced against Tony Stewart there. You can look the track up on YT.
That wallet looks awesome. I changed to a slim front pocket wallet and it changed my life. Sitting on a wallet your whole life will screw up your back fellas. Get that front pocket wallet and never look back!
hi love the vid traxxas just released a mini trx 4 can you compare it to the axle scx 24? its a 1/16th scale i believe and its basically a trx 4 bronco (or landrover whatever you prefer) but miniature
Schumacher has always been top of the line. My friend Adam Bailey worked for them here in the US at their shop in Tampa Florida. He's not that much more of a better driver than I am but it seemed like he always had a bit of an edge and I'm sure that it was the car. We always had a little friendly competition between us because he drove and worked at Schumacher and my last name is Reedy and have always driven and loved Associated cars. But all in all the people at Schumacher are class acts and always very nice and helpful at the track no matter what kind of car you drive.
Dang thanks for the heads up didn't realize I was binge watching your amazing content without being subscribed... no worries that has been corrected. Keep up the brilliant work my dude!
Been watching your videos for what feels like a year or so and I was wondering if you painted a layer of 5 minute epoxy on your plastic rc parts if they would give them added strength or not would you consider doing some content on this idea
I used to do indoor racing like this back in the 90's, bought back great memories. The tech has moved on a lot since then. Thanks Kev!

I had a Bolink back than looks pretty similar to this car .

I like your approach to racing. You’re definitely trying, but still keeping it light hearted and fun. Love your racing vids.
Loved seeing this.

Can you please do more Crawler videos over the winter Sir Talbot ?
The point is kevin makes fun videos hes not a professional driver. He just enjoys the hobby and shares it well

Been subscribed since January 2019 and through the years I’ve always seen that car on the shelf
I loved watching this kind of racing, really wish I had something like this around me!
They have them all over the place. You should look around. My local Hobbytown does indoor carpet racing and drifting.
@@zacharymurdock6721 No.. they don't.

Good driving Kev. I got one of those, only used it once, you've inspired me to try again soon.

I have NO IDEA how people think that LEATHER is "environmentally friendly."
Kevin Talbot got me into RC cars and I’m grateful for it
After a hard days work your channel definitely puts a smile on my face 😂
What would be a good motor and esc combo to run on 3s for a brushless upgrade on a rustler 4x4? I want around 50-60 mph.

What a burn to Vinny the mechanic. “Get a professional to tune it up and probably come first” 😂
absolutly loved this video kevin. more carpet racer videos please!
Car looked pretty good, just need some more practice and you will get quicker. Also the right tyres and additive plays a big part

Your driving is so good! Really cool video, Kev! I really enjoy your stuff lately, no idea why but I’m all for it hahaha
They are missing the best YT rc channel out there
Hoping Kev finally bought his dream property, and is getting it ready for all kinds of cool new content.
Great result Kev, more than held your own against the rest.
Good fun to watch too.
