Been there. When our parents hit the 80's, it's a slippery slope of life. First my dad, then our mother 10 years later. I live across the streets, and I was lucky to be there all the time. ❤❤❤ Take care of yourself at this time of healing, and support of your mother! I missed you!

Maybe you will have enough fabric to make all your siblings a mini quilt or something from his shirts also. When my dad passed away, my mom and I made teddy bears out of his clothes to give each family member.

Hiya Sharon bless you I totally understand having lost dad 11 years ago (mum 21 years ago). I took a lot of comfort knowing dad passed away relatively pain free ….. like a clock winding down. He was a 2nd world war commando and he was my hero. You truly have good memories of him those last two days what wonderful thing he said to you. What a gift. Be kind to yourself we willl be here with you and your lovely sewing projects. 😊

This is such a rollercoaster journey for you and your family. We know that he's in a "far better place", yet the pain in your heart is very real for the loss. When my Mom passed I was quite shocked at how I experienced the heart pain physically. Yet, we rejoice. We hurt and we rejoice. Your family is in my prayers. Take care of yourself during this time. Give yourself grace to grieve in your own way and time. God bless.

I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 9 months ago. I spent everyday for two months at her home caring for her. After two or three weeks, a decision was made to go on hospice care. She couldn’t really walk and talking was getting less and less. I decided to play her LP’s so she could be surrounded by her fav’s. My daughters had a friend come in and give mom a light massage. Hearing all that you did for your dad… well, we love them through the transition. ❤ prayers of comfort🙏
So sorry to hear of your father's passing. He's in heaven now, with a new body, and you will see him again one day soon! Your father's passing sounds very similar to my father's passing back in 2003. He also fell, broke his hip, then couldn't walk because of chronic knee swelling. Was in a nursing home for about 6 months or so before he died of congestive heart failure at 90 yrs. Two weeks before, unbeknownst to our family, he gave his life to the Lord according to the pastor at the nursing home that happened to be a college friend of my brothers and conducted my father's graveside funeral service. For me, my father's funeral became a joyous occasion because he had finally given his life to the Lord after attending church weekly for 50+ years. I'm sure your father's shirt quilt will come out beautifully. Being made with his shirts, with your love, and for your mother.... 🥰 BTW: I have that same Jiffy men's shirt pattern that I bought back in 1978. Made a couple of shirts for my boyfriend.

Thanks Cathy. This past year was so, so hard. So many emergencies, so many calls and meetings I did long distance. Like I said, I'm happy he's out of pain but oh how I miss him! He never even had a chance to wear the shirt I sewed for him for his 90th
