Im 6 '2" and never clicked on a video so fast in my life.. Do it for AP!!
Im 5'7", so iusually watch james stewart short guy tips
It’s tough being over 5’ 10” on a Nike
agreed Im not a very good rider at all but I've never felt really comfortable. Like I need 8" bar risers and the pegs lowered...
I can relate and im just seeing this lol
@@jamessharp9790 at 6’3 my Nike’s fit just fine… but looking to start riding. I’m looking for a good beginner learning bike. Thinking the new ‘22 Honda 250’s because they’re less torquey than the once dominant Yamaha 250YZ’s. If I had any experience I would probably get a Yamaha 250 but the new Honda’s are killer bike’s and I think are closing the gap on Yamaha’s dominance. Obviously I’d be riding stock and the Honda’s are easier to control however being a slim 6’3 at 200/lbs I’ve heard Yamaha’s are better for taller riders and feel less cramped. It’s basically a toss up because I really want fuel injection with electric start and Honda has that but if I’m gonna be knee gripping to help control then the Yamaha might be my better option
As a 6'8" 300lb rider I appreciated this
Pastrana's attack position always impressed me. He had his tall legs locked and his whole upper body leaned completely over the front of the bike. Josh Hansen also seems to do that a lot
Millsaps too but you don't necessarily want to LOCK your knees. You're better off having a very small angle on your legs. With your ass being the weight that you can move around to change distribution. Any whoops or rollers you want those knees behind the footpegs to keep the ass end of the bike under control. Elbows up ALWAYS.
I always found being only 6’2” a disadvantage but I’ve seen much taller pros , not sure how they get those big ol legs and feet moving so fast.
How can anybody not be a fan of this dude?! What a genuine and fun guy!
seems like a legit real down to earth guy
@@kevindoyle2347 always smiling and not speaking like a robot! He's my new #1
Bro he is so high 😂 I love it
One of my favorite riders who’s tall but has an amazing style on the bike that’s absolutely killer is Arminas Jasikonis, dude is awesome 👊
He’s an animal on the bike when he has that day!
Jasikonis is rapid
Pastrana was always awsome but he always wound up out riding him self. Kdub was probably the smoothest though. Problem is weight is what holds back taller riders.
Ap is what the sport needs! I really hope he gets the bass pro shop hook up
We need more tall rider tips on RUclips
We need bigger shoes, longer beds, comfier cars, it’s tough world out here for us
@@aidanwinn8736😂😂😂 facts
6'6 280lbs always like to see videos like this, being this tall makes it hard to keep proper positioning
Yeah I'm 6'2 and struggle with keeping a good attack position. I catch myself standing tall because staying in a proper attack position causes fatigue. So once I get tired I'll catch myself getting lazy and standing more upright.
AP is such a great nice genuine guy! keep ripping!
I remember when Aaron was passing me on a 65, when I was on a 85 back in his harescramble days
dont lie, you were on a 450
@@jhamelin119 lol nah 250sx 2strk 4lifeeeee
@@goinhot9133 as long as it aint an E bike its all good
6’9 250 lbs here just got my first bike today. Kawasaki KX450 and all my friends ride and they fooled me. They said a 450 would barely be enough to move me. Bro, this thing is fucking spooky to learn on! It doesn’t let you just cruise 😂
3:30 these pros are only thinking about breathing right , they train so much for a reason and that’s to do all the techniques stuff automatically bc it’s a habit but one thing you can’t train for is breathing right and what I mean is when riding pay attention and you’ll notice your holding your breathe not even realizing it , all these pros have this issue and have to remind themselves to breathe right
I grew up with him and his brother Dalton growing up as kids. Lived a street over from them I have so many awesome memories with em
Hands down, best dude in the pits every time I say hi to A A Ron he’s smiling!!!!!
Key and Peele.
Love both these dudes for what they do but....this interview about AP giving “technique tips for tall riders”, ended up sounding like a couple of stoned dudes talking about what the best food is when you have the munchies.
Yeah this clip sucks balls
At 6'5" you definitely start to think its not the sport for you
6.4 and the 250 defanetly looks like a 85 big wheel 😂
Knew a guy that was a pro privateer who was 6'10. Literally look like a 6 ft dude on a 80 big wheel. Some of the oddest whips and man handling I'd seen.
Tall on a dirtybike is a good thing!!!! I'm 5'6 and rear fender black from my riding boots, with that said AP is super humble and I enjoy his podcasts and see him do well on the track.
My all time favorite rider AP and he's from Ohio got a race tomorrow thanks for the advice 🙏
My old man used to say "Don't look back don't slow down and look back waiting for them to catch up, go go go"! I broke both legs when I cased a jump in my teens, ride for fun ever since
Fastway pegs and taller Gutts seat does wonders. I used an orbital sander on the seat foam so it’s only 1/2” taller. Pegs only drop about 1/4” so no rut is gonna care, if they do stiffen suspension. And the higher straightest bars are best for taller dudes, Ktm high bend they help you arms no to drop.
6’4” you bet I clicked this video lol
Would have been interesting to hear what his view is on moving the handlebar in the most forward triple clamp position (hole) and (slightly) raised bars
love that he plugged ole scotty in there!
Feel like my elbows are out when I’m feeling the flow during a race, also working on keeping those bad boys out all the time
I think the techniques are basically the same regardless of your height. For tall guys a bit more difficult to do well and take more energy. Shorter guys hit that attack position and their mass is lower on the bike which is always better. You can try moving the pegs around a few millimeters etc. but it still won't make you feel like a shorter guy on the bike imho. I find it hard to believe 5 mm down is really going to do much or make it any easier. There might be a placebo effect I suppose.
"When in doubt 'tack it out!" I'm pretty sure that's the phrase he was looking for there at the end.
There's a Attack position and a open standing position, Both are appropriate in there situations, FEET UP in the woods.
Ass out and an rj wing seat makes a big difference.
AP the coolest dude on the sport
This is like asking Jordan how to dunk. He can describe it, but you still ain’t gonna be able to do it. 😂
HAHAHA
handlebars type and position as long as footpegs and bike height might matter a lot for taller or smaller people in my opinion. we also see people changing footpegs heighht position
Are most long guys using offsett fotpegs or standard? Im 6' and feel a bitt cramped compared to my mtb..
I'm 6'2 and I use after market pegs in stock position. If you feel cramped try a different bar bend, there's also bar risers.
I'm 6'5" with really long legs. On my 2018 300XC I run Fastway lowering pegs, an undermount stabilizer that raises the bars ~13mm, the GPR top clamp with the mounts in the forward position, stock bars, and tall seat. I still look and feel like I'm teetering over a child's bike and my knees are above the seat, but it's a whole lot better than stock. I race desert yet if I was to race motocross I would switch the seat back to stock for seated cornering as the tall noticeably alters the center of gravity. For the desert whoops though, the tall seat and lower pegs are the best band aid I've put on the bike to help me grip with the lower legs.
Out here gripping with our shins
@@streetrider11 🤣🤣🤣
The pegs help but don’t expect much. I’m gonna try and add a tall seat and I’m gonna cave and get some bar risers
Dad said WFO!!!!!
I'm 6'4" broad shoulders, and can't squat to shit. I definitely feel like I have a disadvantage in the corners. I'll try working on my squats so i can stick but butt out better
There needs to be a video like this but for short riders lol
I went Road racing first an jump back into MX an had a bad habit of getting in an aero position an letting my elbows drop if u let them drop u cant move to the front of the bike...when i started studying how McGrath rides i really got better at keeping my elbows up because i had to to row forward as u fly off the face....elbows down they block u back an u get stuck mid bike
Are both these guys high AF?
No doubt
You guys are high AF

Bar to chest thought- think of dead lifting that’s what I do no pro over here but better then most 💪🏽🙏🏽
I have been told I look like plessinger when riding and every thing he said is how I ride
JASE change ur bars ti a higher bend if u feel to tall..an get a taller seat foam for ur longer legs legs...but try higher bars first
Really struggle with the knees. Cant get it tight cus my knees are above the seat anyone has tips?
lower footpegs and try out some different boots some have really really thick soles like SIDI crossfires id avoid
Im 6"3 and got a nary ryder style i keep my feet on the pegs and heavy on the throttle
Well I’m 5’10 and I’m 13 so I’m more like Aaron so this is helpful
What a character😂😂
Attack position becomes muscle memory at a certain point. Don't get set in bad habits.
He’s got the look of the Moto guys I grew up watching . 👍🏻🍺🇺🇸
Ap and Malcom Stewart what a great combo👍👍
Not anymore after this season - Malcolm went to Rockstar. :(
@@jonathondavis170 Oh wow I didnt know that! Glad he still has a decent ride
You can feel the bike pulling it's kinda a traction thing overall balance! Zig n zag braaaap n braaaap
TEAM WFO
Crazy :)
Riding a bmx track will unlock your hips build ya up too
6’6
Love ap7 such a cool dude hope u kill outdoors bro yeww🤟🏿
I’m 6’3 and I can wheelie but my progress has plateaued because I think I’m too tall to hit the rear brake while wheeling
This makes no sense
im 6"2 like AP said ass right out bars to chest head over front takes the stress off your arms.
ive been rising crf450 2020 - kept bars stock / seat stock to stay low for cornering. i moved my bars 1 position towards me in the clamps (xtrig) aftermarket
im gonna try rise my bars 5mm MAX as i keep hitting my bars with my knees i cant lift my knee / leg high enough in some of these ruts
What bikes you like for taller dudes I’ve riden
New yz 450 23 model found it’s comfiest and my old rmz 450 2013 - like Travis pastrami said the suzi is best for taller riders ..
who else thinks this ??? there behind the ball mark ni electric start but for comfort … I think they almost win
Crf feels ok / kx feels decent/ ktm feel ok / yz unil the 23 model felt shit / really love the 23 yz
what about for a 6'6" person...
im 6 4 saw this title and was like instant click
His dad probably used the old Bob “The Hurricane “ Hannah saying, WFO......Wide F___in_ Open
I’m 6’4 and it can suck at times
JASE GET TALLER BAARS a small height increase will feel like a lot just watch for a bend tall u really like...an a custom taller seat foam will help ur leg be in a stronger spot so they arent bent as much use ur helping u use ur longer limbs
Does this apply for 6’5”
How do I watch the motocross in Australia? The peacock season pass says not available in my region.
You could try to get a VPN like express VPN is who I use and then you can choose what country it looks like you are signing in from. Then you can choose a different region until you find one that works. I know the any of the US cities work. But you would have to have it on every time you log in. There are a ton of VPN services out there and you can usually get a discount code or trial period. Good luck!
No it comes natural if you hold it open like AP7
Moto X has always been a short man sport.
Not many top tall riders through the history of moto x.
In my day Steve Stackable was tall.
Not many FAT riders.
Jimmy Button was super tall. I used to ride Jimmy Button bars as I'm 6'3"
6'7 and looking for answers 🤣
What's his intro say?
Do this same video but for short dudes
Yessir take off that damn seat make damn champ out of you
Being tall is a plus when u use ur legs as an extra8 inches of suspension folks dont have that luxury
Tall guy tip...
Buy Magnum's.
Why am I watching this being a shorter 14 year old riding a 250 four stroke?
@Cuntsplosion 69 projecting much?
@Cuntsplosion 69 do you want to go on a date with me?
@Cuntsplosion 69 tommorow at 7pm in the mc Donald's parking lot, sound good?
When in doubt, pin it out
Pastrana and Kevin Wyndham were tallest
have a short rider on so they can talk about tips for short riders lol
Everyone is a short rider lol… not many Pro 6’2 riders so he’s definitely a hero to us tall minorities in the sport
Cut the subframe and run lower bar bend bars. Setup the suspension to have a lot more sag in the rear
AP is cool and all, but Jesus Christ is he hard to Listen to, his thought process is so slow, is he high?
Total crap, Ricky C was short and could throw bike where ever he wanted, likewise James S!!!!
Yea I’m sure you know better than AP😂😂
They didn’t say they couldn’t ge just said tall guys got more leverage making it easier to do so
