Solutions if you don’t want a first look: 1. (If you want more alone time or to talk with your spouse before the ceremony) just do a good old phone call and just talk :) 2. (If you want more time for pictures) you could do the bridal party (and bride) and groomsmen (and groom) separately before the wedding and after just do the pictures of all of you together.
This is something I wasn't sure about and you totally convinced me to do a first look. I think the reasons you listed are very convincing and I know I'm going to be nervous the day-of.
My fiance and I are actually planning a pre-wedding portrait session way ahead of time. We wanted to do this so that on the day of our wedding, there wouldn't be as much pressure to look "perfect", we just want to spend that time with our friends and family members. On top of that, that portrait session will serve as my hair and makeup trial. AND we will already have those photos by the date of our wedding so we can post those as soon as the ceremony wraps up! I know this is unconventional but it works best for us!
I’m loving your new intro!! My husband to be is adamant he doesn’t want a first look but I really think it would be beneficial, he keeps saying he wants the time away from everyone during cocktail hour haha! I have until September to change his mind 😏😏
You have sold me in the first look!! Wedding spring 2022 , I NEVER knew the reason behind the “ traditional” not seeing each other..... and I like the idea of seeing my soon to be Husband Fresh and REFRESHED 😊!!
I think she has convinced me too. I was completely against it and my fiance really wants to do one. We are getting married Spring 2022 as well! Congratulations to you!
@@kaseymehaffey76 the wedding is off 🙏 turns out he is a narcissistic jealous controlling cheating “ect ect”..... glad I dodged that bullet. Once he put the ring on his truest colors showed. But hey congrats to you and your fiancé!! Keep God first and everything else will come in alignment 💕!!
@@IncomeAffectmarketing oh I’m so sorry! I’m glad you were able to find those things out about him before you tied the knot. Thank you and best of luck to you! ❤️
We thought about doind the first look, but the place we are getting married doesn´t allow to dress there (comfortably) so we would have to wake up really early (is a morning wedding) and some of the guests would arrive early too! So we are planning to do a post-wedding session either!
How about a first touch. Like holding hands around the corner. I’m not sure if I can convince him. But it would help to calm our nerves. Picture holding hands at a corner so we still can see each other. But holding hands say a little prayer. You get to see their voice. Still very exciting and a cute photo opportunity!
I love this video, very comprehensive! I'm pretty sure I don't want a first look with my partner because I'd want the big moment walking down the aisle, but I DO want a first look with my dad. Would the timeline of a first look be roughly the same for doing one with my dad?
You would choose a "no first look" timeline but add in an extra 10-15 minutes for a first look with dad at some point before you get ready to leave for the ceremony.
Very helpful video thank you!! We’ve gone back and forth on this for Months now & still cannot decide! Have you ever had a couple play music while doing their first look? I feel like I will be extremely disappointed if my fiancé doesn’t cry during the first look & I feel as though the music would make him cry lol but not if it was just him and I and the photographer in silence.
Our daughter and her now husband did do a first look that excluded the parents. As her mother, I was looking forward to seeing him seeing our beautiful daughter for the first time, but was sort of blindsided by it. It was pretty disappointing for me.
Where should the first look takes place? I’m planning to get ready in Boston and do my first look at the public garden because it’s special to us but our venue is a hour away.
I recommend letting the photographer choose the space based #1 on lighting then #2 on backdrop and #3 on trying to make sure those two can be in a quiet space away from people :)
That's a great point - it can certainly be trickier. This is where having a skilled photographer comes into play. You just need to be more discerning about where you shoot the first look and the portraits after. Also - making sure you schedule your ceremony about an hour and a half before sunset will make it so that the first look isn't *too* early in the day.

So awesome!
Great idea!!
I have been a wedding photographer for 3 years and this is an absolutely AMAZING idea.
This video really needs more 'thumbs up' such great info. You explain the pros and cons of a first look so much better than I've ever heard before.
Thank you so much Jared, I really appreciate that :)

Aww, thank you! I was wondering when people would notice :) Haha! Yes, just talk through all of the pros and cons with him.

Love!! Isn't the traditional reason so awful!? The first look now is really sweet and that private moment is something to be cherished :)

I hadn’t seen your new hairstyle yet! Love it and the intro!
Aww, thank you so much!
Just found your channel and love it!! Could you talk about rain weather some time?
Sure, that's a great idea!
Thanks for this information. I was really divided on this. I'm going to have my fiance watch this so we can make an informed decision.
yay!

I haven't but you totally could! Get the photographer to set up a phone with song before you start walking down!
So during the first look should the bride wear her veil, or save it for when she’s coming down the aisle?
I cover this in my veil video :) ruclips.net/video/84rEJOc4f7M/видео.html

First looks usually do not include parents. It's a moment for them and them alone.
You convinced me to do it
it'll be great!

Are there any lighting concerns with doing a first look as it probably falls more in the middle of the day when their is harsher lighting.

Fire thank you!

Hey! Do you travel within the United States for weddings?
I do, as well as internationally :)
I like your new intro!
Thanks!
