    I want to thank you for this video and some of your others. I made this cake plus added some color flow drop flowers and made some fairies. Wish I could attach some photos.
    I did 3 - 6 inch cakes and made two batches of your chocolate buttercream frosting. One batch with less coco powder for the lighter brown on top.
    This was a multi day process for all the pieces.
    My daughter loved it.

    This is awesome! What did you "paint" the fungi growth with?

      Thank you so much! I dusted it with edible dust with a brush in a circular motion after the fondant dried.😃🍄

    What size are the cake layers? Is it better to have 4 - 7inch layers or 3 8 inch layers

    • @tastebakery
      @tastebakery  Год назад +1

      I used 5 - 8" layers (in a 2" deep pan filled half way with batter) which gave it a taller thinner stump look. If you use 4 - 7 inch layers it will look closer to the shape of my tree stump than if you used 3 - 8 inch layers which would make it look wider and shorter. So it really depends on if you want your tree stump to look taller and thinner or shorter and wider. The only thing that this will really effect is you want to make sure you have enough room to add the fondant pieces you want to add on the side. Other than that it is truly just your preference. 👍😊🍄

    What tip is that you used to make the tree bark?

  • @mandabec826
    @mandabec826 Год назад +2

    How did you attach the semicircle fungi that is on the sides?

    • @tastebakery
      @tastebakery  Год назад +1

      I just stuck it in the buttercream. 😃 You could also push it into the cake a bit too if you think your buttercream is not going to hold it. You could also add some buttercream just underneath the fungi to hold it up where gravity is fighting it and it actually gives it a cool look like the tree grew around the fungi.

    Beautiful. I'm making a tree stump/fairy house cake for my niece's 18th birthday soon. I can use this as inspiration 😊
    What's the name of the tool you used at the top to get the circular pattern?

    • @tastebakery
      @tastebakery  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you! The tool I used on the top is called an icing comb, usually used on the side of cakes to make a line pattern. Have fun making your fairy house cake; it will be adorable! I'd love to see a picture of it if you feel like emailing it to me go to tastebakery.com. Let me know if any questions come up! 🍄🧚‍♀️😃

    Hello how did you get this brown colour of your buttercream please

    • @tastebakery
      @tastebakery  Год назад +1

      Hi! I used brown gel icing color. I like Americolor or Wilton or of course you can use chocolate buttercream.😊

  • @Emma-li8cy

    hello what did you use with vodka? is it a gel colouring? thank you

    • @tastebakery
      @tastebakery  Год назад +1

      Yes it is gel icing color.😊 I like to use Americolor or Wilton if I need it right away.

    • @Emma-li8cy

      @@tastebakery is the gel colouring not enough? is it better to mix it with alcohol? thank you

    • @tastebakery
      @tastebakery  Год назад +2

      So what the alcohol does is thin the gel icing coloring out. It's basically how you make edible paint if you want to paint on a cake for example. The gel is just too thick and clumpy to paint on. So for my purposes in this video in order to accomplish the rings in the tree stump on the top of the cake I had to thin out the gel icing color and I did this by adding alcohol. I only added alcohol to the gel icing color for this specific part.
