I can’t be the only person that feels sympathetic towards Raul, can I? His life was filled with tragedy and heartbreak, and was a victim of horrible circumstances.
Raul was an amazing villain. The only time you ever felt like you had an advantage over him was the very first mission in which you see him. He's menacing. He's calculating. Even throughout the campaign, you always felt like you were a few steps behind him. By the end of the game, even if you get the ending where you put him in jail, you never can shake the feeling that all of this was part of his plan.
I honestly like Menendez, he's a cool character. He doesn't kill David when he has the chance (when he was young) and he leaves Woods to suffer instead of executing him. Yeah...
Menendez is a fucking crazy ass, he killed Hudson the most badass guy I know in Black ops, he made Woods almost or kill Mason. I think you need to see a councillor
For me I think it's hard to decide which villain in all of the cod games is better (Makarov from mw2-mw3 and Raul Menendez Bo2-Bo4) Backstory wise it goes to Menendez but when it comes to the extent of being evil I guess it's both tbh, both of them did some evil stuff like Makarov just massacred an entire airport while Menendez uses drones and shit from the U.S Military

One of the greatest game villains I’ve ever had the pleasure of facing. Everything about BO2 is just perfect. The campaign had such an amazing and emotional twist. He’s so maniacal and ruthless, nothing but pure genius.

He just had plot armor. That's the only reason he survived. Like come on, everytime they got him he was captured instead of killed, and was always able to escape. Not realistic at all. Also, survived a bullet to the eye, a frag grenade blast fom 2 meters distance..... just wtf Yeah i know i'm a year late

@@arie8515 it was really stupid to dumb down the franchise characters just to prop him up, like they had two opportunities to kill him and check if he was really dead, never did anything about their suspicions of Hudson after Kravecenko spilled the beans, trusted Noreiga of all people after getting betrayed by the Mujahadeen, and shot a guy with a bag over his head. So out of character for the dudes that brought the Soviet Union to its knees and really set up the rest of the black ops series for failure
There was also black ops declassified for the ps vita, which showed the death of menendez’s father. Menendez escaped, and when mason went to shoot him, woods stopped him and said “hes just a kid, we dont need to worry about him” which is a neat little connection between stories
I feel like Black Ops II’s campaign doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It was probably the darkest campaign in the series and it was a story of a man driven to insanity and hatred through the consequences of the government’s actions told beautifully if I’m honest.
I think it does get recognition. I mean people are literally asking for a remaster. If infinity ward can do it for MW and MW2 im sure Treyarch could do it for BO1 and BO2.
the reason its not as well known as much as it hurts to say, is the rest of the series not only is MW considered the best series by many (and it honestly kinda is), and BO3 and 4 where pretty bad, and most importantly Black Ops 1, it is probably the most praised CoD ever, and while i think it sure desserves the praise, its kinda chipped away and didnt really give BO2 the time to shine, specially since BO2 was the last golden age CoD, after it we only got shitshow after shitshow, BO3 then kinda upped the standard only to be crushed by IW, and then WWII, not to mention the most celebrated feature of BO2 was MP, sure it deserves it, i mean its the best CoD multiplayer to date probably, its just that all attention went to it and not so much to campaigns not to say that the campaign is in any way underrated, i mean without a shadow of a doubt it is one of the most popular ones, its just that its predecessors (specially MW3 and BO1, being probably the best CoDs along BO2) where very tough competition

Raul is one of the best antagonists in the COD campaigns, it’s also kind of symbolic how he’s very vengeful but only has one eye like “an eye for an eye makes the world blind” great villain
I really do hope that they add specialist HQ missions for outrider, zero and Spectre because that would help explain more of the story and even how zero and outrider tie into the story
Canon ending isn’t with Menendez being captured. Canon is when you kill Menendez and America is in anarchy, because that’s where Black Ops 3 picks up. Best ending doesn’t mean canon ending

The option where he dies, Menendez is killed by special forces while disguised as an US Soldier... That's what really happens.

A bit late but I’d like to mention that while technically Menéndez did kidnap Hudson, Hudson was actually a rat, and Menéndez manipulated him into setting up woods. Kravchenko hinted towards this when he said “he even had people working in the cia” hence why he was acting so strange on the mission in panama. I didn’t figure this out until recently, I thought it’d be cool to share
He's also technically in bo3 but he is good in that because he helps American Ally's in a fight against the original enemy before the DNI drives your friends to insanity.

If you do strike force and prevent chloes death you see in the final missions his plan starts to fall apart and you actually get one over him
