Totally agree. After my mom had an accident in her Camry, my parents got a used 760 gle. They wanted something safe. Although it was probably one of the safest cars in the 80s, it’s no where as safe as modern cars. But I do miss the big side windows.
@Matthew Dawood Khaghani idk how but all old Volvos car are yes true unsafe as time goes except one, the 240 Sedan (not the 242 or the Wagon), turns out as it was designed for rally (and you know theres a ton of crashes), my favorite Volvo is the 960 sedan (safer than this and the 760 wagon of course), new designs are safer such as the Tesla Model X or the Vovlo SC90 or even the Honda Jazz, but the Hyundai? Welp a 3/5 is quite bad, now imagine trying to drive one straight to let say another car that is not a Mustang, Kia or Tata, you would literally die. So in the end, the Hyundai is just as bad as an old cheap ass volvo
They also freely shared their three point seat harness patent to the entire world.

Thanks for posting this... I remember when this ad was new, and "nobody" wore seatbelts back then... This is a classic!
I really want to see non-Volvo's of the same vintage do this to see the difference!
but its the same force of the normal wall testing at 30mph
The result would be simlar to getting the car into the car crusher .... of course no survivors.
mercedes w126 ??? or Fiat Chroma
@marckemp9955I think the RWD fullsize Buick should fair better as it's body on frame. Ever been to a demo derby?! Those cars are tanks!

probably the other 2 volvos in the video (3 volvos where used in this)

Volvo™. A car you can believe in. (Count on it, people!)
When a volvo survives something that crashed most army focus vehicles, you know there is an series competition to the Nokia 3310.

Was expecting the sound of rev limiter at 0:17 haha, but they kinda cut it at the wrong moment
In 1985, there was no rev limiter, as this is a carbureted engine. This was just before the era of OBD I, which was 1988-1995, and 1996 on is OBD II
I love my Volvo but I noticed when it flipped the second time they didn’t finish the video
It must be an error, The narrator truly said 14 and it is abput 14 in real too. But anything else is true. 14 m is about 50k/h speed crash
