    I tried this recipe almost exactly 3 years ago and it was THE BEST double chocolate chip cookie recipe I've ever had in my life (just so perfectly gooey and chocolatey--exactly what I'd want from my favorite type of cookie). I finally got to try an actual Levain double chocolate chip cookie this year and I can confidently say that they don't even come close to this recipe. This recipe is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION and I'm sooooooo glad I tried it back in 2020!!!

    I made this 30 minutes ago. And I actually had to increase cook time by 5 more minutes coz my first batch turned out like in the video, and to my own preference, I don't quite like it, so I bake it a little longer and it's in the right texture for my 2nd batch. Definitely tastes very heavenly. It's the most gorgeous chocolate cookie I've ever seen and tasted. 🍫🍪

    Followed the recipe and did half peanut butter chips & half milk chocolate chunks instead of just chocolate chips. Oh my they are so so beautiful!! Didn’t realise the peanut butter chips I used had salt in them, in which case i would probably reduce the salt I put in the dough, but other than that they were divine! Tried it and wife, kids and family and they love it. I have to make a double batch every time I make it, they don't last. The only thing I did different to add another taste was add butterscotch chips to it with the choc. chip. So I used 400 grams of choc. chip and 200 of butterscotch chips (for 2 batches) in order to keep more of the chocolate flavor . I used Selbourne brand for butterscotch chips which is rich in flavor, not to promote there product, but was one of the better brands that I saw and can smell the difference in quality.
    I also use this same recipe to make a special cookie for my daughter, minus the choc. chip and cocoa powder and added 300 grams white choc. chip and sprinkles (40 grams of sprinkles) and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. That was a big hit as well

    This recipe is beyond sweet by the looks of it. 250gr of combined sugar for 113gr butter. That's insane!! And the addition of semi sweet chocolate will render this recipe inedible. If you're able to eat 1 6oz cookie, i guarantee your teeth will rot and fall out the next day sweet. I suggest cut the sugar quantity in half and add 150gr of dark chocolate chips instead if 300gr.

      Yes you refrigerate them for 30 minutes. Please refer to the video and recipe on my blog for the baking instructions.

    is it okay to use hand mixer vs stand mixer

  • @nca4794
    @nca4794 Месяц назад

    It seems this recipe has more flour than your chocolate chip walnut. I thought with cocoa powder you can reduce the flour by equal amounts. Did you try this? I'm a new baker and was just curious.😊 Thank you, and thanks for the recipes.

    Is using a mixer mandatory?

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons  4 года назад

      A stand mixer or hand mixer is highly recommended for ease and thorough mixing because this is kind of a stiff dough. But you're welcome to try by hand 🤗

    I dont have a mixer, can i just melt the butter?

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons  3 года назад

      Do you have a hand mixer? That would work.
      But I do not recommend melting the butter. At most it can be softened butter that you're able to whip using a whisk (if you don't have any electronic mixer)

    Hi can use unsweetened ricoa powder?

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons  4 года назад

      Yes! Unsweetened cocoa powder is what the recipe calls for. I used natural (un processed) but you're welcome to use dutch cocoa powder and add some extra baking powder (~1/2 tsp extra)

    Can I use Dutch cocoa?

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons  4 года назад +1

      Yes you can! Try increasing the baking powder to 2 tsp, though, as dutch cocoa is not acidic (the way natural cocoa is). Hope this helps! 🙂

      I would advise against it. Sorry! Maybe for the chocolate chips, but not for the chocolate base of the cookie dough.

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons  4 года назад +2

      Yes, I'm sure it could, but because I haven't tried it myself I'm not sure what other ingredients would have to be adjusted to compensate for the decrease in protein. Possibly a bit less baking powder.
